They made us proud..we just needed to get them all on the field at once! Tommy Avers, our soph RB was the player of the game with a 100 yards rushing, keeping the pressure off of Riley having to do it...

The defense was the question mark going into the season and it seems they are getting better and better.

It never fails... I convince a friend or my dad to take a long road trip for an SLC game with me promising "this will be a good one, I don't think it's gonna be a blow out"... and then SLC comes out with the kind of focused first half that just crushes even very, very good teams. It was Abilene in 05, Evangel in 06, and Cedar Hill this year.

The first half tonight was some kind of statement.

How about those LBs/DEs and their performance containing that speed...wow. Did not take Maynard and Tomlin long to get back to playing outstanding ball. Young defensive ends might be the best set in the state next year. Luke Anderson's 10-20 yard burst might be the best in the state from a safety position this year... once he diagnoses a play, it's over. Tommy Avers... unbelievable performance. Forget the comparisons to previous groups, it looks to me like this one is figuring out who they are at just the right time.

Not to suggest I understand this side of the game but isn't their a college coach with a need for an athlete with that 10-20 yard burst and an ability to always being around the ball? On that same note, how underrated is Jarod Freeman?

Freeman...Who, No doubt if you mentioned him in a conversation (non dragon) most would not know his name. He is the ghost of the receiver core and as such glides through the game with little attention directed his way. The best part of watching him is that the opponent rarely adjusts and he keeps on putting on a great show. He's also a great threat on returns.

This years defense got a bad rap from the early games with MNW and Rockwall and was written off by many "experts". Since those games despite all the injuries, they have improved weekly to the point that they are now givng up less PPG than 2004 team and are almost even with the 2003 team.

Zero points in the 2nd half was the difference.
