If G'Vine beats Fossile Ridge, does this just about make SLC a lock to go D1 this year?

No. There are a couple more things that have to happen.

I don't see it as happening. Fossil Ridge is still in control and playing better than Grapevine. BUT...anything can happen as both teams are pretty evenly matched. I personally hopr that SLC still goes D-II, thus leaving more of the best teams to goe further in the playoffs.

trinity will be in the finals almost certainly, if slc goes d-2. were slc to go d-1, the winner of the slc-et game will be in the finals. there aren't any good teams in the d-1 bracket in the northern half(unless the cove will go d-1).

what if Plano were to go D1. I think they might be able to give Trinity a game

If SLC goes D1 then they would get Trinity in Round 1 and then Plano in Round 2. If SLC goes D2 then the Trinity/Plano game would be the game to see. Both very simular teams seeing who is the best running team in the Metroplex!

For quality of games, it would be very interesting to see SLC play Trinity and Plano in back to back weeks.

I think this is a toss up game.

There are many Plano fans in the stands tonight talking about a possible SL vs Plano match. Still alot of football to be played. Plano just rolled tonight against a very bad Colony team 48 to 20. The back-ups were in midway through the 2nd quarter.

Game is getting closer to becoming reality though. Grapevine beat FR. Plano needs to take care of business against Marcus and East. Shouldn't be to difficult.

Obviously with fridge losing to G-vine tonight..Carroll's chances to go D-1 just improved...we'll see

All GHS needs to do is beat Heritage and they have consigned Carroll to Division I--and perhaps the greatest bi-district game in Texas high school football history.

Man, sometimes I wish we used a poll or power points like other states do (namely the Louisiana style power points) so that this game would be a state final!

Well, well, well...............Trinity and SLC in a Bi-district match-up. Hope the game is in Texas Stadium. I will be there to witness the carnage.

no not texas stadium, anywhere but there...it's so nasty. Cotton bowl? Would the game be televised? I don't see why it wouldn't, that would be one hell of a game for the TV.

Can someone fill me in on the importance of the Colleyville vs. Grapevine game at the end of the year? Someone at our game last told me that this game might play into where teams go. Help!!! Fill me in. :D

By saying "consigned Carroll to division 1" - this looks as if this is a punishment. I am sure all Dragon Fans will love a match up against Trinity and the possiblity an easier route to the State Championship, avoiding Longview, Lufkin and Smithson Valley. Playing one less game than D2, which has recently been the harder route to a State Championship game. I would write "now gives SLC the opportunity to play D1" - 'not consigned to D1' - I would make every possible effort to watch such a game.

Both schools are smaller than Carroll...for Carroll to be a D-2 school, Fossil Ridge would have to win out, and G-vine lose to Colleyville..I think.. For me as a fan, it would be interesting to play D-1..as there would be new opponents...We've seen & respect the Lufkin's , SV's, etc. it would be fun to line up with Trinity, Westfield...etc.

And C-ville would also have to win out I think. But they still have DR on the schedule. I think that is right.

I think heritage can win out. They've faced the hardest. Though the small margin fo victory over Haltom makes me wonder if they can take on DR. Richland is a gimme, so I think they might be able to take it. Depends on Ponder.

I looked into the remaining district games and these are as follows. UPPER CASE is my forecasted winner. Home team is listed first.

October 21 SOUTHLAKE - Keller
October 21 COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE – Denton Ryan
October 21 FOSSIL RIDGE - Haltom
October 21 Richland - GRAPEVINE
October 28 DENTON RYAN - Haltom
October 28 Grapevine - SOUTHLAKE
October 28 Keller - COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE
October 28 Richland - FOSSIL RIDGE
November 4 SOUTHLAKE - Richland
November 4 Fossil Ridge - DENTON RYAN
November 4 COLLEYVILLE HERITAGE - Grapevine
November 4 HALTOM - Keller

This would give final standings as follows :-

School District
Southlake Carroll 7-0
Denton Ryan 5-2
Colleyville Heritage 5-2
Grapevine 4-3
Keller Fossil Ridge 4-3
Haltom 2-5
Keller 1-6
Richland 0-7

SLC & DR would go D2/Heritage D1

Key games are Colleyville vs D Ryan and Colleyville vs Grapevine.

The only thing I do not know is how teams with identical records are separated.

No, Heritage is bigger then Carroll, as is Fossil Ridge.

For Carroll to go Division I, two of Ryan, Richland, and Grapevine need to make the playoffs. If only one of those teams makes it, Carroll will go to Division II.

And they wouldn't play a game vs two Mid-Cities teams in the Cotton Bowl as one person suggested. Why would you drive an hour to watch the game in the ghetto in an old and dilapidated stadium when you could drive 10 minutes to watch the game in the suburbs in an old and dilapidated stadium?

I should think that Texas Stadium--where we played 5 of our 6 playoff games lat year--will continue to serve as Dragon Stadium East for at least a couple of playoff rounds in 2005 (whether in D-I or D-II).

Heritage has no chance of beating Ryan. That game isn't a key game. If Grapevine beats Heritage, then Grapevine is in the playoffs.

If Heritage beats Grapevine, then there is a three-way tie between FR, CHHS, and GHS. I think they use points difference in the games involving the three teams to break a tie in that situation.

If Ridge wins out and GV wins out - there will still be a three way tie for 2 spots.

GV -Ridge -DR

Ridge plays Haltom - Richland - DR.

The big game being DR at the end

There is no way Heritage beats GV and DR.

Yes, there could be a 3-way tie for second between DR, FR, and Grapevine at 5-2. So a Grapevine win over Heritage by itself doesn't guarantee that they'll be in. And if Grapevine loses to Heritage, FR doesn't have to win out for Grapevine to miss the playoffs. There could be a 3-way tie between Grapevine, FR, and Heritage at 4-3.

There's still quite a bit that could happen.

Does anyone know the tiebreaker procedures?

Ryan won't lose to FR...so the 3-way tie for 2nd won't happen.

The Heritage-Grapevine game is important now...basically, a GHS win guarantees SLC a DI playoff spot.

Ryan, while clearly the favorite in the rest of their games, struggled against Richland and trailed Grapevine 17-0 at one point. They were also throttled by Highland Park and SLC (two excellent teams, but still ...). It's not inconceivable that Ridge beats them. Despite their loss to Grapevine last night, I actually consider Ridge the more dangerous opponent for Denton Ryan. That game will be played at Fossil Ridge, by the way.
