Plano has to much offense, Mesquite will not be able to stop Burkhead, Defense should play better this week.

Prediction

Plano-38
Mesquite-21:)

Looking at Mesquites season and their stats on the DMN. It seems their offense is pretty average. Top rusher is QB Page with 265 yards rushing and passing is Luke Haplin with 1017 yards passing. When the lost their running back Hernandez to ACL in the second game really hurt their offense. He had over 100 yards against Plano in game 1 and was a real burner.

Their defense is their strength and will decide if they keep the game close or not. Another point is Mesquite has not beaten a team all year with a winning record.

Mesquite does have a better kicker than Plano. He hit 2 FG's in game 1 and has 7 for the year while extra points for Plano is still iffy. We missed one again against Rockwall.

Plano obviously has trouble against high octane passing attacks such as Allen and Rockwall against less steller passing teams they are able to keep them to 14 points or less.

I see this going the same way. I say Plano 28 Mesquite 17.

The Skeeters hang their hat on defense and it will show in this game. I think they can score just enough points to win. I'm looking for a low scoring game, something along the lines of 21-17 or 17-14, with the Skeeters advancing. That said, a Plano victory would not surprise me either. I think these two teams are very close.

I saw Mesquite twice this year, and I've kept up w/ them as best I could from afar (my spouse is a Skeeter). Plano was in absolute control of game 0. They have gotten WAY better, especially on offense. Their defense is a swarming hord that can be motivated by thier coaching staff. (witness holding Rockwall to 7 points in the 2nd half AND Rockwall's high pressure offense unable to punch it in from inside the 5 FIVE times when the game was on the line).
Mesquite has been under performing to their talent all year, re: no wins against winning teams.
I do not believe Mesquite's offense is comparable to Rockwall's at this point.
I know their defense can be overwelmed by a team that can run a ball control spread offense.
Barring unseen intangibles, this could get ugly quickly.

I think it turns into a defensive struggle, and I just have a feeling Mesquite will eek one out. Either way, it will be a good game I think, as most rematches tend to be.

Thats why I put the Lakeview record in the post. Little Lakeview beat Rockwall about as bad as Plano* did....Never mind.

Hey, DD. Saw your beloved Wildcats last Sat. Quite a game. As usual, total team concept -- which we are also accustomed to at SL.

Have watched Mesquite about 5 times this year. They can surprise you. So the Kitties need to be careful. Their defense and special teams can be a force. Win/loss depends on the offense -- been spotty throughout the year.

Mesquite has a really good defense, but they did not have any offense early in the year. After some personell changes they will be tough. The last time we played them there cornerbacks struggled and there defense was on the field most of the night. It will be a physical game. There defense will give our o-line trouble.

Have not seen Mesquite since we blew them out zero week. We finish with the same records, but they are in and we are out. I thought Kelly Page would have a much better year than he did. Mesquite played Lufkin tough... But I still expect Plano to win by two touchdowns.

Go Wildcats!

Chill out. with the censors. Call me misinformed, don't call me liar. Tyler Lee finished at 5-5 for the year. That is not a winning record I don't count 6-4 Molina because they are a poor DISD school and wouldn't even be in the playoffs if they weren't in the disd

I was told today that IF Plano wins and Westfield wins they are looking to play at RR. IF plano and SP win, they have not agreed on a sight. they may flip home and home. interesting.

I think Plano will play either of those teams anywhere but Waco. I am sure GB will avoid that place like the plauge considering his record there.

what is his record there? i went to the Plano-Lufkin game there when Reggie McNeal was with Lufkin and Plano did not have a very good team that year and they pretty much controlled the game. they played very well until Brence decided to blow the game at the end. it was a very surprising game.

I think he has lost three there I was at the Lufkin game you were talking about. I believe another was Tyler John Tyler and I think another Lufkin but I will have to search the stacks.

Bottom line is Brence has not had a good run in Waco.

Plano played westfield in their title run in 94. We played them in Huntsville. Plano put a whipping on them 20-0.

Hopefully the game will be in TS.

Same ''Stuff'', on the Westfield v. Stony Point thread. Except then they "spanked" them 20-0. On and on and on. 0-10, 5100+ enrollment, Southlake?

Interesting. I think he mentioned that Plano fans have no right to be on threads about Garland schools however they are more than welcome to come on and talk about games and programs they have no allegiance to or really know nothing about except enrollement numbers.

Ok. back to the game at hand. What do expect Plano's defense to hold Mesquite to? Do you see another game similar to game 1. I remember Mesquite had a bad snap on a punt that really blew the game open.

Oh thats right,Not suposed to talk about enrollment. Recent playoff record?,
0-10, recent finals, recent semi finals. hows that.
Now go over to the Mojo, Trinity, San Antonio threads. Spread "it" around
I think you have the "right" to be on any thread. That seems to be important
Go Skeeters

I hope they come out better than last week or they will need alot of super glue for the BEND defense. Me or other fans did not see emotion from the defense until the 3rd quarter when the db finally hit a wr and caused a fumble. Then they got fired up and played hard. great game by both teams.

I think Mesquite will be ready to play and it will be closer than game 1. 24-17 Plano

Plano's defense has issues with strong passing teams like Rock and Allen. However when teams have average offensen's then they excel pretty well. That's where Mesquites offense is. If we win SP and Westfield are the same way not huge passing teams. Hopefully that bodes well allowing us to get to the region final.

reports are the precip will likely start after our game is over, but this is Texas.
this time of year i like to see them fired up and not just going through the motions.
The place will be filled with Maroon and white

Game Day!

Heading out for some breakfast then on to the game!

70% chance of rain at game time and 40 degrees which is the high for the day. Temperature drops during the game.

I originally said that the Wildcats would win my 2 touchdowns. With the rain, maybe only by 9 points.

GO WILDCATS!!!
