View Full Version : How Will the History Books Remember the 2007 Patriots?

So when the Patriots finish the season as undefeated Super Bowl champs, will the history books talk about them as being arrogant and unsportsmanlike for running up the score the way they do, and constantly cramming it down their opponents throat regardless of score? Or will they be remembered as a team that knew they had to execute at the highest level possible every play if they wanted to be forever known as the greatest football team ever?

i'm hoping it's as perfect and a team that executed perfectly......

even though i hate all the hype they get they are that damn good, they deserve it.

I wonder if the Pats would sign me as a punter? I've never played football on an organized team, but I was the first-string punter on the Katy Drumline Team during the 2006 and 2007 seasons. I also worked kickoffs, but have more experience punting. They never really need to use their punt team, so I think I'd be a good fit.

I think I'll send them my resume, word for word how I described myself above.

Actually... they just sent their punter out... let's see how I stack up...

Hmm... I don't fare so well.

I know the more I watch the Pats the more I hate Billy. He is just like Barry Bonds in the aspect that he can't stand just being good. I'll fight for him when it comes to the cheating thing, but I still don't like the guy.

They'll go down as the greatest team to play the game of football. and this is blasphemy coming from a Dolphin fan, but Tom Brady is simply the greatest QB to play the game, ever. After this season, thats it for me... hes completing 75% of his passes.... and these arent little dump offs to his RB, or TE.... these are down the middle of the field. Im amazed....

You don't give Randy Moss (especially him) wes welker and donte stallworth enough credit here. Randy has saved Brady's butt many a times with his catches.

Marino is just amazing with the lack of talent he had.

I think the patriots are going to be remembered as the best offensive team to ever play the game. The shame is, their defense might be better.

Personally, I like the finger in the eye of the pundits and traditionalists by the Patriots methods. While they increase their risk of injury, I've alwasy thought( and experienced) that you help prevent injuries by going full speed. While the scheme is incredible, if Moss or Brady goes down, it's all over.

I like it that Brady is dominating. I think it is refreshing that the guy worked his :Censor: off to keep improving after being drafted so low. Some of the media still don't give the dude credit, because he wasn't one of their "darlings" with all of the measurables. the pro game is so different, and that's why the hype guys from the big schools don't always make it. While Brady went to Michigan, not many people thought he would be nothing other than a clipboard holder in the NFL. I think it is awesome that he is able to play consistently at this level so far, and he may have even kicked it up a notch.

I would like to selfishly thank him for boosting Wes Welker's career, too.:D

This may sound insane, and I like Brady, but he needs a bigger body of work ( more years)before annointing him GOAT. I'm not saying he won't be, but I think of Kurt Warner and how he was torching the league for 4-5 years, now where will history judge him?

When I think guys like Montana, Elway, and Marino, I think of long careers with giant numbers for their era. I would put Favre in there too.

If I remember correctly, had it not been for Drew Henson wanting to play baseball his senior year, Tom Brady would've been another Matt Cassell. Cassell was a good one in college, but he couldn't get on the field because of the guys in front of him. Henson was doing well, until he decided to give up football after his junior season, and that's when Brady stepped in. It just shows that no matter the situation, if you're good, they'll fine you!

I hope that's the case! I'm pretty sure that the 90s Bills, and some others including the 70s Vikings would drink to that.

As for the running up the score thing.

I belive it was Madden yesterday that said It was the Def. job to stop the off. NOT the Off. job to stop themselves. Like he said, strip the ball, rush the passer, knock the ball down cover a guy, DO SOMETHING. LOL

10-0
17 other teams have gone 10-0 and only one went undefeated. Look at the present. They will lose a game!
Running up the score? Thats stupid IMO your in the NFL run it up if you want your pros!

Lets not forget the Colts had them on the ropes. I can see, IF San Diego would play a GREAT game in the playoffs, the could pull out an upset. The Colts could still pull one out. How bout the Cowboys in the Super Bowl.

The season aint over yet.

Oh, I agree. But I thought Brady was one of the best going before this year. For sure the best playing... he wasnt better than Marino, Montana, even Elway.... but he was in the top 10. But, this WR corp is insane.... and the have Gaffney has a 4 wr. But its the same in Dallas, how good would Romo really be without TO??? How good would Montana been without Rice.??? We cant penalize for Brady having a crazy insane group of guys to throw to. He had three SB's before this, and what 2 SB MVPS??? and after this year... and seriously, what about next year... dont they have basically the same team?

Marino has ZERO talent around him, and hes my favorite of all time... but Brady is just incredible this year. 75%???? thats incredible
