I agree- I am going with Stony Point.
I would put anyone in our district up against any team in the first few rounds of the playoffs and pick them to win. Every week is a playoff week for these teams, so IMO they have playoff "practices" every Friday night.

SP is a great team this year- and I hope they do well!

Stony point is on a roll. This is the playoffs , westfield be warned if you take them lightly stony point will upset you and end your playoff hunt. All 14-5A teams in the playoffs are dangerous. a missed fieldgoal. an interception, a dropped punt or kickoff and you are in deep trouble. Not to rain on the parade, but around the state, Westfield = scary-good defense.
After the SB Memorial game, the Mustangs have been a different team. The team didn't have its focus before that, and it showed (2-2, giving up nearly as many points in the Cy Falls and WB games as they had all last regular season.
Anyone feeling they will give up 38 in a single game with the way they're playing right now is bulletin-board material for HS'ers.
Westfield will never get overconfident (look what happened to the over-confident Allen Eagles), but they will walk into Bowers ready to prove "Offense Wins Games. Defense Wins Championships."

Stony Point has gotten better every week and is a very diciplined team. They are very well coached and have a terrific offense, many different weapons. They also have huge playmakers on defense.

I won't take anything away from Westfield we know they are legit. It will be a great game and a true battle to continue on in the play-offs...

This will be a good game. WF is coming back and Stoney Point is making noise. Those SP coaches are very familiar with WF.

Both games were extremly close, and very winnable. This was during the time they were coping with the lost of their leader on defense, Herman Mitchell. They're over it now and they're playing for something. Since the Memorial loss, they've been on fire and pretty much unstoppable with an avg. margin of victory at 20. They've outscored opponents 268-66, or 38-9 per game.

Westfield is a hard team to gameplan against simply because of their defense. You take 2 steps and they knock you back 10. Stony Point is a good program but I don't think they matchup athletic-wise with Westfield.

Offense is dominant. Defense is dominating. Westfield by 21.

The Mustangs will never look past a team- especially after seeing what happened to their Region II counterparts in Allen (Div.-I) and Lufkin (Div.-II). Meekins, his staff, and his players will be ready.

I think you should be real careful making inferences or references to players being thugs because of their physical play. North Shore has played Westfield several times and I can NEVER recall a problem other than the final score!

Not at all. we played them all in 16-5a. They are not even too mouthy. Oak is mouthy but mostly from the lesser players.

They will out execute most teams.

Not unless doing the Crank Dat Soulja Boy in the stands is wrong. I think Westfields fans have fun at the game the music is playing and the kids are having fun. I have never seen or heard of spitting and stuff like that. Few gang fights here and there but not anything that doesn't happen at SP.

WOW!!! I remember Plano playing Westfield in 95 down in Huntsville and they bought maybe 500 fans and we spanked them 20-0. I guess things have changed.

Wow, I never heard anything about this, and I think I would've by now. Why would they want to smash windows or start fights, they won that one.

The only odd thing I heard was that the management company who owns the empty strip shopping center across the street from Spring High made a point of telling fans that they would be towing cars from that lot should anyone decide to park there. I thought this was odd because there are no businesses (save maybe one tiny restaurant) left open in the entire strip center. Appletree Grocery store left many years ago. There's a Burger King and a Sonic there, but seriously, a big open lot otherwise. Why the management/owners thought they needed to tow cars from an empty lot, who knows? Tow trucks were apparently lined up ready for duty. :confused:

I've been to every game this year. I've never even seen anything remotely resembling this behavior. Nor have I seen this behavior from any of the teams that we've played. Our players do not play dirty. They are very aggressive and hit hard. They get an occasional unsportsmanlike conduct penalty like every team, but nothing dirty or sinister.

But to be the kind of blocker that kid is, I think you have to play with a "whistle to whistle" mentality that might lead to some borderline activity after the play. They definately got Oak off their game. I think they were more worried about what was going to happen after the whistle, than during the play.

Oak Dad hit the nail on the head........ Westfield is very physical and they play from "whistle to whistle" TE Gimm (He's a beast) is one of the best blocking tight ends in the nation and I'm sure all the SP fans will understand why after Saturday. That kid has so many pancake blocks it's ridiculous.
