If you go to the coaches corner there is a really go video of some highlights from the KF game. This video shows how aggresive the defense is, they hit that poor qb so many times.

Here is the funny thing:

We scored on the opening kickoff = 7

Run up the middle = 7

INT return for = 7

That is the 21 points, only ONE TD of offense!! NOT GOOD!!

Last year our secondary was weak. Everyone scored over the top. The only team that had real success on the ground was Lufkin I think.

Although younger, this team is much better all around than last years team. Especially with Drabek and Smalls in the line up.

I have to agree with you, we need someone on Offense to step it up and make plays, but you can't make plays without blocking.

The Highlanders are for real on Defense.

Smith, B. Hinton and Van Mark Romero are the only seniors starters, they're very active.

An all junior secondary that is aggressive and love to lay the "Wood". They rotate 5 junior LB's and DL that are fast and strong with better than average size. They don't make too many mistakes and they cause turn overs 4 Int, 9 fumbles with 5 recovered.

They are a bend but don't break defense, that has 7 Red Zone stops so far this year. No running back has broken for a long one yet. Katy, NS, Humble, KL and Klein all have very good running attacks and they all averaged 3.4 per rush. They put a lot of pressure on the QB and that helps the secondary. Other then the Katy 4th Quater the Defense has carried this Team.

If the Offense can improve the Highlanders will go far this season!

Hey Mean Green.... you might wish to buy a game program & watch who starts. I think your missing Alan Weimar DL & Kirby Smith LB.

They sub in many players & it's amazing that the level of play is the same. All of these kids are good & contribute. Next year's defense will not skip a beat.

Hey calm down everybody, I think number 1 is a very good athlete and is capable of making some huge plays, but i still think the Woodlands should rely on there other players as well and not jsut focus on him. For example he can use his break away speed to stretch the field, but in a key situation you want the ball going to one of your sure hands. I think that this Highlander offense has so many weapons if they can just integrate all of them in in some way (like Southlake does) this offense could be explosive. Also remember there can never be too many stars on one team. the more stars the better jsut look at USC!!

#1 Ryan Montague is the real deal.....he has a waterbug type of running style like a Barry Sanders......he is definitely going to help at RB and receiver.....the best RB for TWHS unfortunately is stuck on JV due to transfer rules....Tracy Milo......he is very good! Burns seems to be running tippy toe and has been a big disappointment....he may be better served as areceiver in the slot. Drabek came back with little impact....they tried to throw to him twice, both overthrows and he punted twice.....he looked out of shape and his punts were marginal. It was good for the "O" to FINALLY get some points....even though it was against Huntsville......TWHS needs to get some serious Mo going, especially with next week's schedule vs KCHS and CHS. The chemistry is still not there on the "O" and they definitely need to find the right mix and stay with it.......looks like they are trying to placate all the players (Mommy and Daddy's) with mass rotations every play or two.....no consistency = no district championship, no playoffs. I want to believe but the jury is still out on this team!

It's to bad that Conroe has someone like coesmiff speaking for them on this thread. Conroe has made some major changes in the past three years and supported The Woodlands in 2003 for the title. The words and attitude from this student (I assume) almost remove any respect I hold for their team. I can only hope he is a bench warmer or band member because our players read this site and look forward to the Conroe game. I don't really see where or when you made comments to deserve the fowl responses he/she makes.

I will start a thread before that game next week to spike some interest.

Come on now Conroe, don't you think you've crossed the lign into WISHFULL thinking. The Woodlands is by no means on a downhill slide. They played three of the top teams in TX in their non-district games, and next year they will be ridiculously good. Conroe is going to get smashed by the Woodlands Defense, no way you're boy is going to run all over them. It is true that the Woodlands would not be here if it were not for Conroe, but it is also true that Conroe would be long gone by now if it were not for the Woodlands.

Git er Done- In no way has burns been a dissapointment. He averages almost 5 yards a carry and has been one of the only positives about this offense. He has not gotten the carries most feture backs get because of some good depth at the RB position, but has done well when he's gottne the ball. He doesn't tip toe by any means he is just so fast and smooth he doesn't even really look like he's trying. Burns is a very good back and athlete who plays much bigger than his size.

The Conroe program has improved the last couple seasons, but let's face it The Woodz has Conroe's number.

Burns is a great competitor and a good player. He has done everything the coaches wanted. I just think we get caught up in the hype of new players. Their big, run 4.37 etc...It's heart and desire that win championships.

Burns is a leader and a champion period and outstanding citizen! Like Harvard or Stanford good... He has and will make something good happen this season he already has for the past 3 years....
