Was at the game, great playoff atmosphere. Music. Food. Dancing. Everything.

TWHS tried to beat Westfield at their own game. They failed, bigtime.

Westfield's defense was sloppy at times. But it didn't matter. Just ask #9.

I said it before and I'll say it again. You defend the run and they'll torch you with the pass. Stop the pass and they'll run you over.

Westfield QB once again throws for 4 tds, back-up RBs goes for 3tds. Yes, back-ups. Bo Walker is hurt, or it appeared that way.

And the secondary? Int for a 105yd TD return. A new school record.

Folks, Westfield is here to stay. Next up: RR Stony Point!!

Mustangs played well and TWHS needed to have one of their best games of the season to have a chance.
I thought they'd bring in Lasko and that would have an impact, I also thought they'd spread the offense and move the offense around more, including the tight end. I knew we were in for a loss when the first 3 plays were the same crap we always run. I know someone will tell me that Schmid does that to see what the defense will do....that's the problem, he waits for the other team to set the tone and we're always playing catch up. When you go against good teams, you have to play your game and push the envelope. You don't change against lesser teams either or they'll bit you in the :Censor:

TWHS play calling (offense and defense) is anemic and needs to change...which I'm afraid will only change when the coaching staff does.
Schmid's record:
2004 8 wins
2005 7 wins
2006 6 wins
2007 3 wins

Lookin' forward to baseball.....

Who was missing last night? I know Milo was. Did Tweedy play? The freshman RB looks like he's going to give TWHS the running game it badly needs the next 3 years. They're ok at WR. I think if they are able to be a running threat from the QB position, they should be ok. Defense allowed 55 though. Looks like there's some work to be done there. Although the Defensive Coach's medical problems earlier in the week could have been a distraction.

Tweedy did not play

Only real problem I have with offensive coaching -- after Logan Rowe moved from RB in to WR in 1st qtr ( good move to get Lasko in ) -- there wasnt 1 ball thrown to him . Why ???? -- Rowe has proven to be on of the best WR on the team ( one of the best all around players -- has started at WR , RB , Safety , CB , kick returner ) --to have him line up at WR & not even use him does not make sense --especially with Tweedy & Eastman out

Now --defensive coaching --that is another story

BUT -- no denying that Westfield out-played & out-manned TWH -- they deserved the win --only drawback I see in Westfield is they look a little free-lance --in other words -- making it up as they go --kinda like sand-lot --- but hey --it worked . More power to them

They needed to be healthy and playing well to have a chance. With your 2 best offensive weapons out (Tweedy and Eastman), no chance. Puzzling how they did not throw to Logan Rowe. They will be so talented next year, it's scary. Question is, will the potential be maximized?

Can someone discuss just how good that freshman running back is to go off for 260 yards against the Westfield Defense???

Nice win but was expected. The woodlands was 3-7. Good start.

The westfield defense is somewhat of an anomaly at times.

Not much of an anomaly. It just depends on how pissed off they are at the moment :D

That freshman is bullet fast. If he learns to run left or right, he will be something. I was surprised that when he was in, they didn't utilize 22 as he seemed to have skills as well. The Wood line should be proud, they blocked well for fresh.

WF had several (4-6_ key injuries and play second and thirds in the fourth. I don't think anyone will miss next week though. The int in the ez was fun.

CavDad,
There's a lot more offensive power, they've focused on Tweedy/Eastman and I think that gets to your last point...with the incoming talent, will the potential be maximized...doubtful. The changes required for that to happen are pretty difficult for a school to make and I don't see us having the guts to do it.

We'll be at the CP game this afternoon cheering our neighbors on!!! (that would be CP by the way...)

I have been watching Highlander FB for 20 + yrs --he is the most promising freshman I have ever seen @ TWH -- 2 big IF's --if he progresses & doesnt get hurt -- I think he has a chance to be the best ever at TWH & maybe be something VERY special state wide -- he played part of Magnolia game & all of Westfield game. He played 7 games on freshman & 1 game on JV --his varsity stats for 1 1/2 games :

27 carries --355 yds , 4 TD's

Although he is VERY fast in the open I think his best asset is how fast he hits the hole ( if there is one ) --the best description I can come up with is like a sling-shot --he just explodes thru the hole. In other words he has the fastest start I have ever seen. If the line can open a hole & create a crease thru the LB's --he is GONE

A lot of TWH fans last night were of course disappointed in the lose ( and the season in general ) but most said in was worth coming to the game to just see Lasko & are looking forward to seeing a whole season of him.

TWHSDad - you are just one of those people who can only complain. You're complaining about the offensive scheme/play calling that scored more points against Westfield's defense then any other opponent other than Cy Falls this year. The same defense that shut out the high-powered Klein Oak offense that just put up 59 on CP.

The TWH defense obviously was not up to task last night. The coaches clearly decided that they were going to shut down their running game and Westfield did a good job of making them pay for that with their play action passing game early. Then, as the game went on, the Westfield running game finally wore down The Woodlands.

Despite the loss, it seemed that the fans I was sitting with were more upbeat because the future looks so bright with Lasco and all the other underclassmen that got so much experience this year. I for one can't wait until next year (except it will be nice to go a few months without TWHSDad's constant negativity). I know my son and his friends are looking forward to their chance next year. There were a few over at my house the other night and they were already talking about the offseason and getting ready for next year.

Too bad you don't read all the posts, they're not complaining, they offer constructive criticism and if you're satisfied with the program, that's great, reminds me of a baseball coach that once said "I don't mind losing as long as it's close"...back off the personal attacks.

Wow! Be careful which direction your fingers point. Don't make me pull out the play-by-play. I'm not saying the D was perfect by any means but they're the last group you should criticize.
