I know many are attending this game Friday so for my journalism class I did this.
History
Last Year's Meeting: Trinity 35, Bell 14. Trinity pulls away in 2nd half with win.
Trinity has won 7 straight.
Basics
The two teams share Pennington Field, so:
Home Side: Trinity
Visitor's Side: Bell
The two schools are located about 3 miles apart.
Trinity will wear black jerseys, black pants, with white numbers outline in red. A black helmet with a T on it.
Bell will wear white jerseys with white pants, with blue numbers outlined in dark blue and a blue texas on the side of the white pants. A blue helmet with a white facemask and a blue/white B with a knight behind it.
If you are not a Bell nor Trinity fan it will be advised to attempt to find room on the home side since the visitor's side will be packed in like sardines.
Many pregame activities will take place on the field.
Halftime
The two bands will play, then the drill teams will pair up and dance in a friendship dance.
Memorable Games
1982: Bell 20, Trinity 7... both teams entered the final game of the year with identical 9-0 records. The game was so big it was moved to Texas Stadium. Bell won this one 20-7.
1982 Playoffs: Bell 14, Trinity 14 The two teams met again in the state quarterfinals. The Blue Raiders won on penetrations and advanced to the semi finals. They would eventually lose in the state championship.
1997: Bell 3, Trinity 0... A field goal is all it took to send the Blue Raiders into the playoffs.
2002: Trinity 34, Bell 21... A district title on the line, the Trojans pulled away late in the 4th quarter to take the 5-5A crown. Both teams made first round exits in the playoffs.
Allright enough of this... time to preview the game.
THE EDGE BREAKDOWN... ** is by a lot, * by a little
Quarterback
Trinity: Sr. Trevor Vittatoe(#10)
Bell: Soph. Tate Holbert(#7), Sr. Joe Mauro(#12)
Joe Mauro is doubtful for this game so sophomore Tate Holbert will start. On August 1st Holbert was competing for the starting sophomore team job. Luck and hard work led him to be the evenutal backup for Mauro. However this will be his first start. Vittatoe on the other hand is experienced and ready to go. Mauro still may play but it will be a game time decision if at all.
EDGE: Trinity **
Running Backs
Trinity: Sr. Dmitri Nance(#5) and Sr. LaDerrick Handy(#25)
Bell: Sr. Terrance Lavine(#26) and Sr. Alex Miller(#8)
Trinity may have the best 1 2 punch at running back. They average a lot of yards per carry and per game. An absolute monster. Bell's backs are capable of big plays but don't benefit from a tight end or two like the Trojans do. But they can catch teams off guard.
EDGE: Trinity **
Wide Recievers
Bell: Sr. DeAndre English(#1), Jr. Andre Lampkin(#5), Soph. Blake Cantu(#21), Sr. Ryan Stankus(#80), Sr. Kevon Bradford(#19)
Trinity: Jr. Robert Davila(#3), Sr. Marcus King(#23), Jr. Derek Chouinard(#80), Jr. TE Jordan Scoggins(#40)
Trinity doesn't pass much but has a high yards per catch average. Their biggest plays are from trick plays. Bell's offense is passing oriented, so their recievers are more used to catching. All 4 starters are capable of making huge plays and can be dangerous.
EDGE: Bell **
Offensive Line
I think this one is self explanitory. Trinity is huge and experienced. Bell is average sized and inexperienced, as none of the 5 lineman have started a varsity game before this year. However the Bell line will work hard and give it a full effort.
EDGE: Trinity **
Defensive Line
Trinity: Sr. Henry Niutei(#90), Chris Tshimanga(#94), Solomane Vakalani(#99), Mao Leota(#33)
Bell: Sr. Charles Taufa(#33), Jr. Will Finau(#98), Soph. Mafileo Taufa(#95)
All 7, 4 from Trinity, and 3 from Bell, starting defensive lineman in this game will be Tongans. Both have varsity experience and are strong. It should be a good battle on both sides of the ball. This one is pretty even.
EDGE: Even
Linebackers
Trinity: Ryan Foster(#9), Siosaia Moeakiola(#47), Kevin Carlton(#49)
Bell: Jr. Jon Henson(#34), Sr. Scott Gilchrist(#43), Sr. Daniel Longo(#44), Sr. Corey Clarkson(#30)
Bell is very experienced here. For Gilchrist, Longo, and Clarkson, they are 3 year letterman so they will be facing the Trojan Varsity for the 3rd time. Henson is very fast and quick for a linebacker. Trinity's linebackers have been getting it done this year and Ryan Foster is a playmaker.
Edge: Bell *
Secondary
Trinity: Sr. Matt Steward(#2), Sr. Tory Pinkerton(#20), Fr. Prinz Kande(#8), Fr. Earnest Norman(#21), Sr. Sione Vaitai(#4), Sr. Mike Smith(#13)
Bell: Sr. Bernard Flanders(#9), Sr. K.P. Tatum(#2), Sr. Alex Thomas(#6), Soph. Jayah Kaisaimba(#31)
Bell's secondary has shut down the pass this year after their opener against Bowie. In two games they have held the other team under 50 yards passing. KP Tatum is among the area leaders in interceptions and could be the best defensive player Bell has. Bell returns two all district secondary with Flanders and Blackwell. Trinity's secondary has been getting it done but are vulnerable since this will be their first test against a one-back, pass first team.
Edge: Bell *
Kicking
Trinity: Soph. Pery Niegoros(#35)
Bell: Jr. Andrew Dolph(#15)
Dolph has yet to miss a field goal or PAT this year, Niegros has missed quite a few. Dolph has more experience and a powerful leg.
Edge: Bell *
Coaching
Trinity: Steve Lineweaver(6th year), Power Run Offense
Bell: Gary Olivo(1st year), Spread Offense
Both coaches know how to win. Olivo has 2 state rings and Lineweaver has 6 straight playoff apperances. Its about as even as it gets here.
Edge: Even
Overall
Trinity: 6
Bell: 5

Prediction
Bell 41, Trinity 38, I'm sticking with my preseason pick here. Should be an entertaining game, its a rivalry, who knows what can happen. It may look like the Trojans will smash on paper but we feel that we have what it takes!

What boat did you just get off of!!!!!! You think Bell is going to score 41 pts. on Trinity!! Got to give you credit for taking time for your analysis. I know Lineweaver has a state ring with Commerce. Where did Olivo come from? Our kicker has missed his kicks because and only because of bad snaps. That sophmore probably has the best leg around. I hope you are at the game to see your goofy picks come through!

I envision alot of Bell parents, die-hards, THE BAND, the team....and Trinity's following would consist of, just, Nance....and the O-Line!
Parking situation: Anywhere, except where Bell's Band Members park!
Ticket price: Free (< The advertisement is as follows: "Come out and see Trinity play football.....and L.D. Bell, at half-time!"
Time to arrive: Anytime before half-time.
Time to leave: Anythime before the 3th Quarter....when the game will be over!
Again, final score....

I really doubt that the score will get up into the 60s and 70s...
Lineweaver is a classier coach than that...
I say 44-13 Trinity.
On another note, what is it with Coppell fans thinking that games will be 70-21? The only school that is hated enough for a coach to let his team score 70 is Coppell High. Why don't y'all just get your football team off the field (though you are better than the altogether dismal effort put forth by my Rangers this year) and go to the only place in town where y'all are sort of good...the hockey rink!

Trinity is the home team for this game (north side of stadium.) There's going to be a lot of empty seats on Bell's side and they all leave after halftime. On Trinity's side there are the stadium seats--only bleachers on visitor's side. If I were a visitor, I would be there by 7:00 at the latest. Visitor's parking is on the east of the stadium and the home's team parking is on the north and northeast side of the stadium.
Pennington Field still has reserved sections and general admission. I don't know how much the tickets are since I have season tickets. Hope this helps.
Getting a peek at Trinity?

Be there no later than 7 to get in line for a ticket for sure - the lines are LONG! We have season tickets and will be there that early just for the pregame stuff.
Best advice - once you choose a side - either root for that team or don't cheer at all - both sides don't take to kindly to fans sitting on our side and cheering for the other team - especially in this game!
This is the one week that is no holds barred!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TROJANS!!!!!!

I certainly hope you didn't call this a research paper! You should get an "F" for writing such false information. But you should get an "A" if you said it is fiction. This is as bad as when Nance and Vittatoe were accused of getting MIP tickets. You can wake up from your dream now.

Where did Olivo come from?Olivo was the head coach at Fossil Ridge from 2000 to 2002, compiling a 22-14 record with playoff appearances in 2000 and 2001. Fossil Ridge advanced to the Class 5A Division I state semifinals in 2001. He was the offensive coordinator at Grapevine from 1986 to 1999, helping Grapevine win two Class 4A Division I state titles.
Both Olivo and Lineweaver have roots in Southlake. Lineweaver coached there and Olivo lived there for many years.

There are a few mistakes in that information.
Scott Gilchrist is not a three year lettermen. He started JV Sophmore year.
Our Kicker, Andrew Dolph, has had at least one missed extra point, and has had a field goal blocked, against Macarthur.
Besides that, I wish some of you would stop looking at the paper battle, and understand that this is a rivarly game...Bell always seems to come out with a bang in this game, at least the last three/four years ive seen it, and the Trinity teams always out pace them, making the best of bells early second half mistakes.
I really think that it will be a better game that it has been in the past. I really believe that this team has a lot of heart. A lot of this Varsity team is the same team that came back from a 14-0 defecit in the Trinity V Bell JV game last year in the final 2 mins of play to tie the game at 14-14.
Good Luck to Bell in this game.

That's really funny...Jesuit was 3rd in the DMN All Sports standings if you only took the boys sports...behind Carroll and Rockwall. And Jesuit's wrestling team isn't really that good. Our best sports are swimming and diving (the UIL sport which got us the most points in the All Sports), Rugby, and Hockey.
Your soccer team has the benefit of an easy region. Jesuit lost to Klein in the region final...I bet we would have beaten Coppell in 05 if Klein was in Region 3. You have NEVER beaten our soccer team in the UIL. Even when y'all won the state championship in 04, you didn't beat Jesuit. You tied us twice.
It's the same in every other sport. We are very even, but Jesuit has a slight edge, at least according to the DMN.
Coppell fans need to get over it. We are AS GOOD OR BETTER then they are in EVERY SPORT...we have always been and always will be. Get over it...(this year's football doesn't count because we aren't that great this year).
