So the cops got called because people were breaking into cars near Miami. One suspect fled the police, jumped into a pond, and a gator bit his head several times and he died.

I think it's criminal that this poor gator, who was minding his own business, was put down because some low-life car burglar jumped into his pond while fleeing the cops. If anything, they needed to place "Poncho" in a luxury pond at the county jail and let him subsist on other car burglars.
