Ridge sacks West to kill the drive at Ridge's 40 and the teams go into halftime at 21-14. KEEP WORKING COBB! The kid is having another big day. Ridge is too fast for a gimpy McGuffie to get to the corners.

It was a good game for the most part - couple of break away runs by Ridge (one was a kick off return of 100 yards!). Sam was held in check but Wesley Cobb had a great day. Congratulations to Ridge on something that is NOT easy to do in this district...they did it and deserve this outright championship. Now let's go kick some butt in Playoffs!!!!

Ridge got all the bounces today. 2 td passes that were well defended and tipped by Cy Fair defenders. Sheperd IMHO pretty much held in check despite around an 80 yd td run that should have been called back due to a plain as day block in the back. Either way Ridge would have still won this game.
I still don't like Cy Fair's play calling. I wonder why we never throw the ball to Sam out of the backfield. I seem to recall reports during the summer camps he dazzled with pass catching skills.

Can't agree more. Ridge got the breaks and the calls, but it is HS football.
In spite of those, I won't take anything away from the Rams. they had the hustle and the will.
Congrats Champs! Fair didn't rollover, well earned W.
Play calling for Fair, hmmm.... Lot's to be desired.
Special teams has some work to do before the PO, and the D is still questionable, keep working boys, keep hustling, in the PO's, anything can happen!

I think the game was closer then the final score indicated. We also had our chances in this game. Several times we had recievers that got behind the Rams defenders, and the ball was either underthrown or got there late.

Good point, forgot about that. I saw only once, was good for 6, I think. I didn't see it again, was that the one where Sam got 40 yards out of it?
Anyhow, good change, Coach.

The Rams’ victory this afternoon was pretty much a snapshot of how our entire season has gone – lots of frustration on the part of our opponents, who I’m sure leave the stadium frustrated at how it seemed like they woulda-shoulda-coulda won that game while also trying to get the license plate number of that drag racer that just ran over them by three touchdowns. Take the Fair-Ridge game, for example. Fair dominated time of possession, had many more first downs (I think, w/o seeing the stats), and very well could have had a decided edge in total yardage. Yet the stark reality is that the final score was 42-21.
On top of that, two of the Rams’ touchdowns were on deflected passes that one of our “unintended” receivers took in. And one was a 108 yard k.o. return that Hasan worked his magic on. Now unless you’ve watched the Rams all year, you might be inclined to say we’re lucky or “the ball was bouncing our way” or the like. But when it keeps happening over and over, it’s hard to keep chalking it up to luck. In point of fact, it’s much more than luck. It’s how the Rams’ have molded their identity this year – a quick-strike team who takes advantage of every opening. It’s one thing to get chances; it’s another thing to get to the point where you expect to get them and to capitalize. Cy-Fair competed hard and showed their own offensive firepower (especially Wesley Cobb, who looked much more lethal than Sam). They would move down the field only to have two things happen more often than not: (1) the Rams’ defense would come up with a big play to thwart the drive; and (2) the Rams’ 3-play-80+-yards offense would strike. Just a crease and BAM!! From the opponent’s viewpoint it must be: “Hey, we’re doing pretty well here.... How in the heck are we 21 points down??”
But now we can all unite in hopes of turning our respective strengths against foes outside of 17-5A. Go RAMS!! .... and Eagles, Bobcats, and Crusaders, too.

Best of luck to Cy-Ridge (Falls & Jesuit too!) in the playoffs. We are so d@mn predictable on offense, drives me crazy. We blitzed a LB or two occasionally which was very effective at stuffing the QB/RB exchange for a loss. Too bad we waited till the 4th qtr to think of that.
It's been a frustrating season to put it lightly, hopefully we can put all this behind us and come up with a respectable play-off run. Go Bobcats!

Had a little outting after the game this afternoon so i'm getting back in a little late.
A lot of things can be said for the game this afternoon. First and foremost, Congtaulations to Cy-Ridge on their championship this year. They deserve it. Second of all, congratulations on the win today at Berry. They were as tough as expected and we knew it would take a lot to keep up with them. It just didn't happen. They are a very good team and it will show in the playoffs.
I still think Cy-Fair could have played better. In some areas, they just didn't seem to play like they wanted it that bad. Like they knew they were already playoff bound so why give it your all? I noticed that the play calling was quite conservative until later in the game when we tried to play catch up ball. I hoped we would have come out passing (the unexpected thing to do) but no..business as usual. I just feel certain that a few passes right off the bat would have set the tone differently than what was shown. Of course Ridge was expecting "run" just like everyone else, and a few passes would have changed the mindset. Every opponent since the end of last season has always thought "McGuffie...McGuffie..McGuffe", or "Run..run..run". The O-line just isn't good enough this year to have that mindset. I really wish they would change their way of thinking on that. They would certainly benefit from it.
I know it's been said already, but Ridge did get "lucky" on a few plays that ended up in unexpected scores. Tipped passes for the most part. We called a blitz and Peter Hand had Shepard already going to the ground when Shepard threw a desperation lob that appeared to be thrown away, but it ended up in a receivers hands and off he went for six! Just a few of the kinds of breaks Ridge had today. Fair had plenty of opportunities to score.. they just didn't use the "stuff" that was working when they could have used it the most. Very predictable.
I noticed quite a few starters sitting it out today. Moose, Lathrop, Thompson, Strickler, Ashford, and a couple of others were out. Moose played some of the second half but quite a few were nursing minor things from last weeks game.
Cobb had one heck of a game. He ALWAYS gives 100% of himself. Never quits, or lets up. Who ever nabs him for college ball will be fortunate. Moose is one heck of a player also. A lot of heart in that boy.
Fair needs to step it up from here on out. I know Cinco will give it everything they've got for 48 minutes, so there are no more excuses for not getting it done. Play with Heart. Play to Win. And most importantly,...GET IT DONE!

I learned my son's senior year that there is a BIG difference between an ankle sprain and a high ankle sprain. Ortho said the high sprain actually takes longer to heal than a fracture. They are nasty, nasty things.
FYI...high ankle sprain is where the ankle joint rolls up between the two leg bones, thus spreading the bones apart and tearing the ligaments that hold those 2 bones together just above the ankle. For severe HAS's the only remedy is to run a screw threw the 2 leg bones to hold them together. Bad news.

Cy-Ridge is good no doubt, but it never fails with this district. Every single week when their is a big game whoever wins it goes out of their way to cover for the losing team for the better benefit of the district. I've seen Cy-Fair on TV every game this year and was not impressed in the least bit. I saw Cy-Falls and was not impressed with their D. What happened when I brought it up? Random fans from the other teams in the district go out of their way to tell ME I don't know what I'm talking about and that in reality all these teams are just AWESOME. Cy-Ridge appears to be for real and will probably make noise. Cy-Falls offense will carry them against the weaker teams at first but will eventually get exposed just like last year. If Lamar is any better than they were last year they will beat Cy-Fair.

I haven't been all that impressed with Cy Fair this year. If you looked at some of my posts you would see that I haven't thought the defense isn't that great, and for the most part the offense has been hit and miss, and IMHO more miss then hit. I've publicly questioned the coaching all season long.

I would have to agree. They are clearly NOT the team they were last year.
They seem to remain focussed on how they got so deep last year. This years team is entirely different and haven't learned to improvise for those setbacks.
