Heads up 5aTexasFootballers......
I ask all of you to please pray for Arlington Martin assistant coach Bob Rose.
He has been coaching in the Arlington ISD for over 25 years, spending time at Bowie and Martin High Schools alogn with Hutcheson Jr. High School.
He was both a football coach, and a biology teacher of mine at Bowie in the early-mid 90's.
While a coach at heart, he is also an academic as well as a kind and selfless man. Very few teachers were able to get me to really care about the subject matter they were teaching. Knowing and caring are 2 different things. But this man spurred me to REALLY LEARN Biology, and it's various elements from entomology to botany to the wonders of the human body.
At the same time, he has ALWAYS exhibited real interest in his students, and has been instrumental in producing men and women of sound character.
He has been battling cancer, and received very bad news recently in regards to his prognosis. That being said, I pray for healing and for his family as they face this unbelievably difficult and emotional challenge.
May God be with Coach Rose.

I played for Hutcheson Jr High in 87 before going on to Carter! When did he coach at Hutcheson?

I know he was at Hutch in 88-89 year to 89-90 years when I was there. And then was at Bowie when it re-opened in 91.
Also at Martin with Coach Rose, is Coach Scott who is now an AP at Martin.

From the Arlington Martin Booster Club:
Greetings All,
I am writing to share the update on Coach Rose. As many of you know
Coach found that he had lung cancer in the spring of last year. This was a
total surprise as he was not a smoker.
In August Coach Rose needed to retire due to the illness. For much of
the fall coach came out to practices when he wasn't in treatment. He
became ill during much of each week and spent time hospitalized. Without
exception he gave that 110% and attended every Friday night game in the
press box offering support to the coaches and team. This was done
without pay. He was/is an inspiration to the program and players.
As you can expect financially the family is strapped. Susan is
seriously needing to explore selling the home in January. Coach has made major
improvements in the home over the years and Susan believes moving coach
right now could be devastating.
Many have asked if we could explore fundraisers and set up a fund for
the family.
The Booster Club will have a one time line item for a Coach Rose Fund.
100% of the funds given will go to the Rose Family. The key is time is
of the essence. Anyone wanting to give will need to send a check made
out to MHS Football Booster Club (Memo line ROSE FUND). The checks
should be directed to our P.O.BOX:

My coach. My teacher. My friend.
I am forever in your debt.
Your example of class, commitment, and integrity were exemplary.
Your spirit lives on in the hearts and minds you helped influence and build.
You were not only a great coach, but a truly great educator, and the best Biology teacher any punk kid like me could have asked for.
27 years of service to the Arlington Scool District.
including 1991-2001 at Arlington Bowie 2001-present at Arlington Martin.
Many Warriors and Volunteers grieve today, yet know that your absence with us means your presence with Christ in heaven.
My tears are sincere, and my mortality is only a breath away. But I shall endure with your memory etched in my mind and heart.

Its been a very sad Christmas holiday.
First, Larry Johnson (Former offensive Coor. at humble, and Principle of Humble High..and Father of Marquis Johnson, PV A&M DE, and Jerrod Johnson..TAMU QB)
Then the death of Humble ISD's School board President...(Father of 6 children)
and now this. i will be sure to pray for all of them, and pray God guides the Families of our leaders through this holiday and keeps them strong
My prayers go out to his entire family, let us all remember that God indeed is in control.

The Funeral Services for Coach Rose will be held Friday at Moore
Funeral Home in North Arlington on Davis street at 3:30pm.
The Rose Fund is now at $8,000.00. We will continue accepting
contributions through Friday and the desire is to present it to the Family this
weekend.
Your generosity has been tremendous. The Bruener Family, Ashworth
Elementary and the countless numbers in the Martin Community Thank You.
Your support just continues to amaze me. Each of you are very special
people.
It will be difficult for Susan to thank everyone individually but,
please know that each of you have gained a jewel in your crown in heaven.
This is what this season is all about.

Thanks WarriorDad for the confirmation. I saw that online also on the star-telegram obituary too.
People should really go read the tribute page and comments people are submitting about Coach Rose.
He was just such a special person.

I just saw his Obituary, and I realized that he was one of our assistant coaches at Hutcheson Jr High after seeing his picture. He was a great guy! My heart is heavy, and it goes out to his family and friends.:cry
