This has turned out to become the premiere matchup in the district as it seems neither team will be beat until they run into each other the last game of the season. Longview seamed to be the clear cut favorite until Tyler's dominating game over Mesquite 42-6. I know this game is several weeks away and anything could happen, but Does John Tyler have a chance to Stop the green Machine.

IMO- Yes, Maddoxx is one of the Top Dual threat QB's in TX, and John Tyler is huge up front and can cause some problems for the undersized Longview Defensiveline. Madoxx might be able expose the lack of Talent in Longview's secondary. SR. Cortex Bell will have to step up because he is a proven leader out there for the Lobos. Longview brings the best Backfied in Texas will McGee, and Ivory doing the Texas 2 step threw most of there opponets. John Tyler's defense will have to step up and be up to the task of stoping the best RB in Texas. McGee runs behind a great O-Line as well and Freemen has some tagets he can hit down field for some big time catches.

Should be a great Macthup and will take 4 quartes of football for either team to win.

EDGE- Goes to Longview a two TD Favorite in my Book. To much experince and JT's defense is still a question Mark against quality offenses.

I'd have to agree the edge goes to Longview, but I wouldn't be too sure about lack of talent in the secondary. The turnover margin (mostly interceptions) is a testament to that. True, they haven't faced a pure pass offense, but the corners have been shutting it down, and the hard hitting safeties have been making receivers think twice about catching the ball. Wrapping up is the key here.

But overall, great analysis. I haven't gotten a chance to see Maddox in action yet, but I've heard great things.

longview will win and jt has made a lot of improvements but the lobos are to good this year plus beating up on a team that hasn't won alot in the last few years still doesn't prove they are big time just yet.i give jt their dues but the lobos are the only real big dogs of the district.hopefully when we redistrict we can get some good teams in the district and send those mesquite teams back to play in their world so they can feel good about themselves.

I think JT is gonna win it. I think they have just as much of a chance as anyone. So why not step out on a limb and root for JT?
If JT wins the game can we go ahead and give them the trophy? :D

I dont!! They lost to a 4a team, even though it was the defending 4a div2 champs Kilgore and they lost in ot they still lost. It would look bad for 5a if they lost to JT. Think about it??

I know what your problem is. If LP has to play Lv, then the win over Lv wouldnt seem so sweet for LP.
I would rather have the upset though. But, I'm not an "official" fanof Lufkin.

What teams have even scored 21 on us this season? There have been better teams who have scored less. Especially after the poor play of the defense last week, they'll go into the next games focused on playing better.

Why are we talking about this anyway? Rockwal is this week!

Sure...anything can happen when you look PAST them, but thats not going to happen. Especially them not looking past ROCKWALL which is this week.

But off the record, I don't see them losing either.

I think they do too. As far as the game though, I think it's still too early to see how big of a threat JT is to Longview until at least after JT plays Lee. However at this point, I think JT would stick with LV until they either turned the ball over or had to punt from their own side of the field a couple of times.

Lobo Nation . . . enough said. I hate to disapoint the rest of the state of Texas but nobody, I mean nobody beats the Mean Green this year . . . not JT, not Lufkin, not SLC, not Euless Trinity, not Spring Westfield, not Katy . . . nobody! We've without a doubt played the hardest schedule in the sate this year and we have still managed to outscore our opponents to the tune of 274 - 65 through seven games (14 points scored on kickoff returns against Evangel); more importantly, our first unit has not played a full game this year. And by the way, Chris Ivory, our monster upback played only one quarter against Marshall due to heat stress; and our sophomore tailback fumbled three times as his replacement (twice inside the red zone as we were on the verge of scoring), giving Marshall a fumble return to the Lobos six yard line. It still took Marshall six plays to score from there - Longview got hit with a celebration penalty after initially stopping Marshall on a goal line stand. And for all of you people worried about Longview's size on defense, don't - because we're not! This crew will literally knock your socks off. The consensus is, this is without a doubt the hardest hitting football team Longview has ever had and we've had some good ones. So buckle your chinstraps and get ready for war, Lobo style!

Hardest schedule? We all know that this is subjective and that nobody really knows. But if I had to make a guess based on sound analysis, I would say that Longview has most likely played the hardest schedule in the state of Texas. And we all know that you're only as good as your competition.

Marshall - State Finalist (TX-4A) - - 28-16
West Monroe - State Finalist (LA-5A) - - 21-0
Evangel - State Champion (LA-5A) - - 52-14
Tyler Lee - State Champion (TX-5A) - - 35-7

Now, as for the Lufkin game and five fumbles reference of a year ago . . . please, Lufkin fans know that we ran up and down the field on them with a junior and sophomore laden team. And I know that you know . . . by now, that Chris Ivory fumbled four of those with a broken hand. They will not be so lucky this year. Write this down, take a picture, Chris Ivory is a monster - the next closest thing to Earl Campbell. He is determined to make amends for last years debacle. Do I need to mention Vontrell McGee, Adrian Reese, Cortez Bell . . . ? We are determined to stay healthy this time around; otherwise, we could have scored 400 points thus far. Remember, all good things come to an end . . . and it's over! The Javorsky Lane era is over, "done". Believe me when I say this, "this Lobo team is good and they know it." We had a good team last year (12-1) but this senior laden team is better, much better!! So don't buckle your chinstraps; instead, stand steadfast at your own demise. Just so the joke is not own you . . . don't say you weren't warned.

SNOOPY is that You? Well if it isn't old JOE COOL himself. You sure are one cool cat.....er....should I say dog? Did you just jump on the Lobo bandwagon? See we here in Lufkin know how great of a team Longview is and we probably knew it before you. It is funny how characters like you come out of the woods after several weeks of Longview dominating other teams. You kinda sound silly coming on here trying to prove things to everyone else on here about Longview. We have already been through that discussion. Your words on this forum do not change the outcome of last year and will not guarantee the outcome for this year. I am one of the MANY Lufkin fans who think Longview can get it done this year whether we face your team or not. But we that live in the real world know that nothing is guaranteed. As for last year....yes we won when we played you guys and we all know about the fumbles and the broken hand etc. but Vondrell is your feature back and his hand wasn't broke. I also know that broken hand or not, I have never seen a Coach continue to give a guy the ball as much if all he did was fumble. I know Vondrell got alot of yardage on our D but wouldn't you have wanted to have him get in the endzone more so you could win the game? Seems like our D held up when it mattered most. Yes you held Lane to fewer yards and you brag about that too but you didn't hold him when it counted. You didn't keep him out of the endzone. So sometimes stats don't mean much if you still lose the game. And it is foolish of you to think that Lufkin football can't be played without Lane. We did just fine before him and we will be just fine without him. Besides all good things have to come to an end sometime. That is just reality so get use to it. Just enjoy the ride that you are on with the LOBOS because I am sure it is a fun one.

We heard that about Reggie Mcneal too!! We will hear that about Dez Bryant after he leaves and on and on. Sounds arrogant but Lufkin just reloads. Perfect example is the 2002 team. Lufkin lost 95 percent of their starters after the 01 championship year and they came back the very next season and was 1 play away in the state semis from winning it all again vs SLC. That is when i knew for sure that this program was now the real deal and Outlaw was the real deal.

I really think people are underestimating John Tyler. JT has a Dual threat QB that has D1 all over him as an athlete. John Tyler's heart and soul is powered by their massive O-Line which should cause some problems for View up front(lack of size and depth due to injuries). JT also has several Targets they can throw to including evacuee 6'5 215lbs Earnest Smith. Though JT will be challenged on the defensive side of the ball by Longview but then again who is not. I just think Longview has the Edge right now but I am waiting to se ehow JT plays against Lee it very well could change.

JT fumbled the ball in the endzone to lose a touchdown and missed two field goals in regulation. Then they let Kilgore drive the ball 59 yds with less then a minute left in the game to tie it, and then JT missed another FG in OT to lose 24-21. JT should've won that game in a blowout, but then again a lot of things "should've" or "could've" happen in course of ballgames. But JT deserved what they got with their total collapse at the end of the game.

We had a good team last year (12-1) but this senior laden team is better, much better!! So don't buckle your chinstraps; instead, stand steadfast at your own demise. Just so the joke is not own you . . . don't say you weren't warned.
Sorry, Charlie you don't have the hardest schedule. 4A teams are 20 points worse than the best 5A teams. Louisiana doesn't count and all of us know it. Those 2 Lousyanna teams can't beat the top Texas teams. Tyler Lee was last year's champs and that doesn't count this year.

good gosh-----here we go again????? will it ever end?????forget the Longview/lufkin bullcrap....back to the topic...Longview by 21, maybe 28 over JT....JT is good, but not that good to take it from this year's team---they won't allow it to happen.................................
JT has really only played 1 real good game and that was last week. They're a pretty good team, but they're not in Longview's class. They won't stay within 20 points of the Lobos. If they do stay within 20 points, I might have to bring up some old material from last year! ;)

I'm really glad Coach Brooks brought back the old Lion and got rid of that gay looking one along with the "powder blue" colors. Maybe that was JT's whole problem these past 3 years??? :p

........ well that and "coach" ratliff of course

Coach Ratliff is a terrible coach and he is now coaching at Stewart Middle School (haha to Stewart Students, lol) in North Tyler. I am glad too that New Good Coach is here for JT and I knew they will be good already at the beginning of the season when they stop getting bad records. I am glad to see a JT Fan on here and your probably the first one on here for JT High School.

I'm trying to start a different arguement here.. But...(always that) Did Louisiana teams count the years that ECA beat Longview and Lufkin?
Just wondering...

they count when you win and they count when you lose. when lee lost to that ohio team it knocked them down in the polls
