If Jesuit plays Desoto, it will be at Jesuit.
If Jesuit plays Bowie, it will be at ISS in Irving.
Both would be at 7:30 PM, Friday, November 16.

That sucks for Desoto or Bowie, because both places are not that great. Jesuit needs a new stadium, and the Irving schools need to upgrade their stadium.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's at the Mansfield ISD stadium. That is a awesome place to play. SGP played Bowie there in last years first round playoff game. They got the jumbotron, and it gives croud shots!

Did not seem to bother SGP that Mansfield ISD was close to Bowie last year.
I think the stadium being closer argument, when you are in the same metro area (within 40 miles) is silly.
Trinity fans would love Mansfield ISD Stadium -- I know I love it.
Trinity does not have to worry anyways -- Martin's QB broke his leg (Jake Sharum) and is out -- this hurts their offense badly. RB Mathis also got hurt versus Bowie (leg, knee?), and while still playing, clearly is hurting still from that.
Without these 2 in Martin's offense, Martin will not be able to score more than 6 points vs Trinity. I give Martin 6, because their kicker is fantastic.

Trinity will kill Martin, and Bowie will kill Jesuit or Bell. You can basically go ahead and say that 7-5A and 8-5A are 1-1 already lol. But then again, that's why they play the game.

IMac has a chance against Desoto or Cedar Hill.
But CHill or Desoto would still be the favorites.
I have the highest respect for LD Bell -- LD Bell and Bowie are similar in that for years we have been second fiddle to a stronger power in our respective ISD's. But, I do not think LD Bell can beat Bowie. Please do not take this as disrespect Blue Raider fans.
IMac will be hard pressed to contain Cedar Hill or Desoto's offenses. Jesuit would not be able to cope with the speed of Bowie, Cedar Hill, or Desoto.

Nope, we have no chance.
Anyway, Irving Schools Stadium or Jesuit High School? Those two stadiums are amongst the worst in the area... for a playoff game? Why?

The story is 7 & 8 5A have first dibs on TS due to it being on the Irving School district. Thus the first round games could be held there as a group if the district coaches wanted to. However all schools have to agree on it as a potential site, as it is a "neutral" site.
Supposedly one school that has not performed well there in recent years nixed it as a playoff site the last 2 years. Thus the Irving ISD, Jesuit Pennington, CH, Desoto and Arlington, fields become possible venues if the coaches decide to flip for a Home field site. ( you have to reserve TS ahead of time and that "team" has been involved as a possible playoff team when the reservations are required. They just don't try to get it for individual first round games. They would want it as a group)
Other coaches try not to go the flip for home route and negotiate a neutral site such as Gopher/ Warrior Bowl, Mansfield, SLC, Birdville ,Coppell etc.
Don't quote this as the fact - but it comes from a &#%$ good source.
Thus the Jesuit boys, with what I imagine to be relatively few chances to play there in their carreers, get shafted.
Now if the teams get to the second round TS becomes an option but if the team that nixed it in the first round is still in, they won't play there but the others have the option, That's why SLC and ET could play there last year.

That school that nixed it would have probably been DeSoto. Coach Meadows has made it quite clear in the past that he prefers not to play at TX Stadium. That is why last year's region final between DeSoto and CH was played at Mansfield.

In 2006, 15 of 16 coaches in 7-5A and 8-5A agreed to play their first round games at Texas Stadium, which would be a special treat for the players. One coach said no, so all of the schools lost the chance.
In 2006, the same thing happened for the second round games being at Texas Stadium. The same coach said no, and 7-5A got screwed again.
This coach does not enjoy playing at Texas Staddium, and he has done it several times. However, I'm willing to bet his kids would love to experience it, especially those who have never had the chance. And, he is ruining it for all of the other kids in the other two districts, which is very selfish.
Jesuit is going to fix-up their stadium, but it will take money and time. Since they can't pass a bond (private school), they have to raise the money. The field is fine, and the stands, although old), are big enough for a Desoto-Jesuit crowd. The press boxes stink, and the bathrooms for fans are worse. But, it is a great, small-town like atmosphere. And, both coaches agreed to flip for home or home. I do know the Jesuit players and coaches would love to experience Texas Stadium at least once, and they have yet to do so. They have played at Ennis HS and a Midlothian HS and, while these were impressive stadiums, they were also far away.
ISS is not a great venue, but it is about halfway between Bowie & Jesuit. Jesuit did not want to flip for home and home against Bowie because several 7-5A and 8-5A coaches told them to avoid having to play on the turf at Maverick Stadium. Jesuit won the toss, and the teams agreed to play at ISS since The Gopher Bowl was already taken.

That would definitely be Coach Meadows then. Another reason he will never measure up to the late Ben Dial (and I don''t care how many state titles he won in Oklahoma and Kansas!). Coach Dial made sure DeSoto got as many games as possible at Texas Stadium, and DeSoto won most of those. I just hope that after having to play at Jesuit (no knock on their school) some of the parents will have the gumption to confront him on this. If not, DeSoto wil never be in a playoff game at the new Cowboy's stadium either. :Censor:

you are correct in most of what you said but with one exception 7 5-A did not get screwed in the second round last year at TS because ET /SLC played there in round 2 . The school that played Desoto may have gotten "Screwed" but not the district. That game could not have been held any place else, Amon Carter does not have the parking for a full house.
TS is a pit but the field is great and the experience of playing there for a HS kid is something that should not be denied if possible- what memories . Last year during the ET SLC game when Campbell broke that 60 + yard TD I could imagine what was going thru his mind as he was doing the same thing on the same field as as Dorsett, Emmit and others have done.
My theory - if TS gives you bad memories of playoff games - go back there and win some -
There is about only 1 thing that upsets me with trinity fans, is that some of them have an aversion to Birdville stadium. it seems we lost playoff games there to teams we could have / should have beaten. Any time it is mentioned as a possible playoff site a bunch of them act like little girls and go running and screaming. Heck let's get over there do the Haka and get those demons out of there. geez face your problems don't run from them.

I hate Texas Stadium as a playoff site because I feel like the costs for everything, save for the tickets if it's a triple header, is extreme for average and lower income families. Also, when you buy things there, none of the money goes to the any schools booster programs.
Whereas, at least if you play a neutral game at Mansfield isd, you know the money spent on concessions is going to good use for programs in the MISD. same thing if you play at other ISD owned facilities. The money is best used when distributed to the ISD's and not to Jerry.

I think I posted this after the DeSoto playoff game last season, but I just have to reiterate what a wonderful facility the Mansfield stadium is. In addition to the great field and all of the bells and whistles, the staff and volunteers from the Mansfield ISD were exceedingly helpful.
As an extra bonus, all of the press box food was homemade.:D

I've NEVER heard complaints about Birdville ISD stadium(or any playoff venue) especially the newer one. You realize we've only had two games, two games there this decade . One was a 28-14 loss to Lamar but that game was closer than the two playoff losses at Texas Stadium considered a home away from home. The other game at Birdvilles ISD we rolled 42-21. Two games! In fact, come to think of it, they had one of the nicest lockerrooms I've been. The only "complaints" I've heard was people maybe didn't care for the food/thought it was a little greasy, LOL.

I'm cheering for Jesuit to beat DeSoto. Eventually DeSoto will run out of stadiums they haven't lost in and might reconsider playing at Texas Stadium. It's a shame for all the boys involved that can't have that triple header at TS. I'm suggesting that the majority vote rules - that'd take care of that DeSoto coach.
