IF you are a TRUE Lobo fan, lay off of it. Let the team do their talking on the field. Every time you post, some SLC fan brings up the PAST. The past is just that, the past. We can't do a thing about it. Yeah, we haven't won since 1937, hell some teams haven't won it at all. We haven't beaten Lufkin in 9 games, wow. The overall record is still fairly even. I would rather lose to Lufkin than a team from Dallas or Houston. I have a lot of respect for Lufkin as a team, and the majority of their fans.

You can't deny what SLC has doen, however they've done it. Yeah, they're blowing everyone out, but they will get some competition in the playoffs. That's the beauty of the playoffs, there is actually competition there, even if there may not be in district. I'm so glad we don't do it the way the day it in D1 NCAA football, that system is a joke.

My point? myround, you're making all of us Lobo fans look like fools. You are not gaining respect for us or the team, but losing it. Let the TEAM do the talking. Sit back and enjoy the ride. Win or lose. If we lose, it will be because we met the better team on THAT day, even if we felt like we had the better team all year long. National polls are a JOKE. For that matter, the state polls mean nothing. Yeah, they're a good yard stick at times, but they are just people's opinions. The good teams win on the field, the not-so-good teams go home.

From one Lobo fan to another...at least that's what I gather....LAY OFF for now. You're making us look bad. I've been there when the Lobos started 5-0 in non-district, only to miss the playoffs for the first time in many years. I was there from 94-98 in the band. I witnessed the '97 season first hand, every minute of it. I was there for the cockiness. We all expected to win. Boy, we had our bubble burst hard that day in the Astrodome. It happens.

This team is so much better than that '97 team. It's not a one man team. There is no one "star" player. They are all stars, playing as a TEAM. We don't need Vondrell to run for 300 a game, or Carlin to throw for 300. Stats don't matter, the only stat we need is the one point more than the other team on the scoreboard when the final buzzer sounds.

We know our team is good, we've seen it. Just how good has yet to be determined. IF we meet Lufkin again, I think it will be a great game, just like last year. Last year was a disappointment to Lobo fans for sure, but I can bet you that EVERY fan at SFA that day would say they witnessed one of the best HS football games ever. We have seen some great games between Lufkin and Longview the last few years, even if we have ended up on the wrong side. Aside from the championships, Lufkin and Longview are a lot alike. Their fans are alike, their bands are alike. We are all die-hard fans.

Myround, just sit back and enjoy the year. It doesn't happen that often. Good luck to all the teams as we gear up for playoffs. Hope everyone goes in healthy and no matter what the outcome, that your kids leave it all out on the field. They are playing the greatest sport in the greatest state for it. High school football is probably the most pure version of the sport there is. The kids play for their school, for themselves, and NOT for the money. They give their blood, sweat, and tears for one prize. A prize that many strive for but only few achieve.

I understand that dragon. It is just getting old with him getting on the other teams. I know there are bad apples in every bunch. I would personally rather play the underdog. It shocks everyone when you do what they don't expect you to then. Noboy expected us to beat ECA when they were #2 in the country. Or beat Midland Lee when they came to Lobo Stadium as #1 in the state. We won both games, and they were great games. Not many are expecting us to beat Lufkin, or maybe even win the title this year. I am in no way saying we will do either. I'll deal with those items when/IF we get there. I think we'll earn the respect in tiem. The team has the Lobo fans' respect, and to me that is all that matters. Let other teams not respect us....not saying that they don't. I know a lot of other fans have respect for the Lobos. So, don't take it as me saying that other teams don't respect us. I know they do. Just some of the fans don't respect/expect much from us. But, that's the fun of being a fan, supporting your team no matter what. I just try to do it objectively. If there's another team that earns my respect, I will let it be known. Respect is not given, but earned. And I think the Lobos have done a lot to earn respect at least in East Texas. Let the Dallas teams do their thing, and they'll come up against East Texas in time.

Good luck to SLC....boy, if you DO end up playing ET in the first round, that would be one helluva game. That'd be one I would skip our game to watch if they conflicted. It would be cool if we play our game close, then that game is later so a bunch of our fans could come over that way to watch the game. I know a few that would come with me probably. But, that isn't even decided yet. We'll see how it goes.

thanks man, yea itd be interesting, after this weeks, gvine-fridge game, it'll be more evident, i hope we dont go d1, thatd take out a great team early, thatd be unfair to both team, but i know what you mean with the whole respect thing. i dont care if people respect us, but i will give respect out to the people who earned it, and reconize them for doing things like that, good luck to you and the lobos

Lobo, I have to agree. This is coming from someone who hounded the board for several months last year. It's not worth it to make everybody mad; and believe me they get mad when you constantly dog their team or paint them in a lesser light to make your team better.

I respect Lobos than any teams and I didn't even make an excuses when Lobos beat us. I encouraged them to win the state champion for Division 2. I respected them when they beat us.

Since when did starting threads about users become so popular?

Redskins, I'm all for voicing an opinion, but myround is making the Lobo fans look bad.

Raiders, that is what I am talking about. I have a lot of respect for Tyler Lee, and JT. I have a lot of respect for the other teams we've played as well. Not just because we might have beat them, but because I know we're in for a good game no matter what. Lee's kids were overwhelmed after the first half last Thursday, but they never gave up. The fans might have, but the kids on the field didn't stop lining up and trying. You can't fault them for that at all.
