No, they got more than one vote. You get 10 points for 1st and 1 point for 10th place. So if they got 10 total then they got multiple points from multiple voters.

Texas City beat La Marque and Dickinson (both of whom were Top 15 teams at the time), but La Marque is ahead of them.

Those 6 homer DFW sports writers are still hanging tight with SLC.

Actually several of the DFW voters publicize their votes and not all vote for Carroll. Good try though bud.

Yeah the 4A rankings are all whacked up.

Waco is 4th but has only lost to Euless Trinity who is a #8 5A team, who lost to Permian, who has beat 2-top 10 5A teams. :\

Why wouldn't they?

SmilinTiger is one of the few Katy fans that always wants to downplay Carroll and what they have accomplished. This is just one more shot for him to take. It's pretty consistent with his other posts.

For me on the other hand, what I found more interesting was the large disparity between Katy and Carroll...AND then the rest of the teams ranked 3-10. Not too many points seperate the top two teams, but then there is a large dropoff for the rest. I think that's pretty accurate until we figure out how good Permian and Bowie really are, and see how high Trinity has bounced back.

Someone from Midland is touting Odessa Permian?? What's up with that??:)

HOWEVER, I agree with your point. Just the fact that Permian HAS beaten both Abilene and Euless Trinity should propel them up into the top 3...especially the win over Trinity (whom I have the greatest respect for).

You'd think I'd be happy, since the Allen Eagles are #3. But, it seems like such a subjective exercise (ranking) that it's hard to take real pride in it. Better to prove yourself on the field, I think.

Mustang was talking about Lubbock Coronado having 1 vote.

I want to know who gave Windthorst 2 votes. How can they get any votes? They're 4-4 with losses to 2 ranked 2A teams, a private school, and a ranked 1A team.

Wow, I was seriously expecting Permian to move up to at least 4. Looks like thats where we will likely end the season, at number 5.

I have absolutely no problem being ranked where we are in the poll. Allen has proven to be a great team this year. North Shore has looked great as well. I think the top 5 would have to play it out to seriously determine a true ranking.

I always remember hearing about the 1980 Permian team that won the State championship and was number 3 in the final poll of the year anyway. I always got a kick out of that. Just goes to show you that the ONLY ranking that matters is the one you get with your rings and the hardware.

At least it helps me to understand them more.

The only voters that count are the scorekeepers as they push the buttons for the big board at the games...And we are finally getting to that part of the season where the scores really matter.
