...is a communist religion-hating bunch of garbage...ok maybe not all of that, but here is what is true.
There will be a new Children's movie out in December called THE GOLDEN COMPASS. It is written by Phillip Pullman, an atheist who hates C. S. Lewis's Chronical's of Narnia. It will be advertised to sound like a pro-Christian movie (also a set of children's books) however it is the exact opposite. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that 'My books are about killing God.' One quoted portion is from an X-nun who describes Christianity as 'a very powerful and convincing mistake.'
The movie is being softened and set up to fool kids and their parents in the hope that they will buy his trilogy where in the end the children kill God and everyone can do as they please. Nicole Kidman stars in the movie so it will probably be advertised a lot.
SNOPES HAS THE FULL STORY . . . CHECK IT OUT.

If any of you put a stumbling block before one of these little ones who believe in me, it would be better for you if a great millstone were hung around your neck and you were thrown into the sea
(Mark 9:42)
It is truly a shame that Mr. Pullman has decided that he needs to do this. I usually don't like to sling scripture about, but setting out to write a series of children's books designed to "kill God"....gives me the shivers about a person.

*shrugs* I read these books in the 4th or 5th grade and enjoyed them very much, but then again maybe I was too naive to fathom the political/religious color of the story.

something i've never gotten about atheists. If you choose not to believe in God or a higher power thats your decision, while I think its wrong, I can respect a persons decision. However I don't get why these people feel they have to "decalre war" on religion. Sure religion has lead to wars and corruption, but what hasn't in this world? Can't they at least respect the fact religion, at its core with all the strings cuts out, preaches nothing more than love, truth, trust, kindness, forgiveness, giving, honor, loyalty and everything that humanity shoud astrive to be.
I'm gonna get off my soapbox now

yeah, the movies look really interesting and I might have caught myself saying that I would like to go see it, but I doubt I can support something like this.
Sorry just not my taste. Kinda makes me sick that someone would do this.

You know most of the atheists I know believe what you just said. They think the bible is awesome and that it teaches so many good morals and even if they found the very answer that proved the bible wrong than they wouldn't tell a soul because the fact it would destroy something to great.
I'm close to most of them and I respect them alot. These people however, have lost a lot of respect from me.

atheist are a funny breed of people. You have to kinda watch it around them, Christians understand there is no such thing as a perfect person. But in the world of atheism perfect people apparently exist.
Example a good portion of atheist have a loving tendency to blame religious people for bad thing like wars and such. Atheist love to find something bad or wrong and they will run with it and never let you forget it. Religion started this war and you don't hear us atheist doing this or that. As a Christian the minute you do something wrong the atheist will remind you till he dies about what you did and never forget period.
In comparison there have been atheist that have killed people for religious beliefs. So it's not like they can say they're flawless.

Yeah and how about all those atheists who are like "don't impose your religion on me" as if atheists have never tried to change religious people? I know of plenty of people who can get enought of telling you haw you're wrong and wasting your life. I won't impose my christianity on you if you won't impose your atheism on me.

The problem is the power that is given to them. It only took one to get prayer taken out of schools. So if that is the case, what kind of magnitude would something like this movie have. It's war guys. Spiritual warfare.
