One awesome game.....like I said earlier this week Creek is the dark horse in 24-5A. Fastest young men the district, just needed to learn how to win.

At least alek showed up to play the game and I dunno scored touchdowns and kicked EP's. Anyways we're out; last year was a nice story but maybe we'll be back in a few years when we get some i dunno big guys and more talent than just RB's Sledge, McKinney, and Brooks.
Pearland also beat Ball so congrats Oilers on winning 24-5A, you deserve everything your earn this season.
24-5A End of year prediction
Pearland (6-0) Good luck in the playoffs.
Ball(5-1) Good team, Pearland is better.
Creek (3-3) Creek is back and for real, great team for the next 2 years at least.
Alvin (3-3) Loses the tie breaker
Brook (1-5) Close game, beats Lake
Brazoswood (1-5) Put the nail in Lake's coffin that Creek hammered.
Lake (0-6) Fell apart like an Uzbeckistanian Motorcycle.
The only game we will be in is the game against Brook and I'm just not seein it and thats our HC to :( .
Note to future teams: You can't play football without a O-line and a D-line.

Congrats to Creek on a well deserved win. The enthusiam of their team and fans was truly inspiring and should continue to build momentum.
Lake has a serious confidence problem. Can't overcome adversity...most of it self inflicted. Continue to put themselves in bad positions at critical times and can't take advantage when they get in position to score. Talent wise I don't see them as being that far out against the teams they have played this year, they just aren't making the plays that make the difference in the game while their opponents continue to capitalize on numerous Lake mistakes.
When Oiler1 posted "it could go downhill in a hurry" b4 the Pearland game I didn't think it was possible but the wheels have definitely come off and Lake is now playing for pride. If they don't start believing in themselves again, it could easily lead to an 0-6 district slate. Still love 'em but it sure is painful to watch.

The wheels are not completely off yet but there are definate weaknesses that I was pointing out. I don't think that Lake will go 0-6 in district. Alvin couldn't stop Creeks running game so they definately won't stop Lakes.
Rajon Henley went out of the game against Pearland with a dislocated elbow and is questionable for the season now. Lake could still get 3 wins but only if they can eliminate the turnovers and mistakes. They had 460 yards rushing against Creek and thats nothing to sneeze at.

Ok this brings up alot of questions...
Creek's QB is a sophomore???
Lamarque05 is from Lake???
Ok maybe just 2 questions, it seemed like alot when i opened this reply...
Yeah Lake is just not a 4th quarter team i suppose, if we were then we would have won 3 more games than we did. Well it seems like now is as good of time as ever to start testing younger players to see who's gonna restore lake to their semi-decent status. We might even be able to squeeze in a few playoff runs if we are lucky!
The class of 2010 looks to have a few great athlete's in it, we even have developing Blue Chip kicker coming up!
Hurrayyyy

Creek's QB is a sophmore that started on JV A as a Freshman to develop. He is also the head coaches son and he has been getting groomed for QB for some time. Gets better each week and played the Lake game with an injured ankle from Alvin game. It seemed to make him stay in the pocket longer and pick Lake apart instead of running for yards on the scramle. The OL is the key to the pass at Creek...all 5 starters played on Varsity last year and they are all experienced. It doesn't hurt that the OC and head coach are both from Baytown Lee where they developed Drew Tate.
Bottom line with Lake is that Gilmer is not an option QB and the special teams are killing Lake. Box score does not reflect the 35+ yards a carry the return guy was getting against Lake. This is nothing new because the young man has been doing that all season. Surprised Lake kicked to him. Small note that the kicker from Creek missed almost all his PAT last year, not so anymore. New coaches at Creek don't neglect the special teams like the old coaches did.
While I picked Creek as the dark horse or spoiler in the district, I would not be surprised if lake won their next 3 games. Hold onto the football and Lake would win more games.

Do tell CLFalcon since you're so full of information. Sounds like you're too full of yourself. I happen to know that John has alot of friends and they support him. He isn't the only team member. It appears to me that you enjoy bashing him and you are too clouded to see the big picture. This is a new team and they are learning. Let me guess--you don't play football or anything else as far as that goes and you are just a very bitter person who has nothing better to do than to slam someone on the forum. GET A LIFE!!!!

I see that CLFalcon2006 decided to erase the bull that he posted. A bunch of lies of course. Lake will get it together. The triple option is hard, that's why alot of teams don't go that way. The special teams needs some work, as do the defense and the offense. WE dont have the size that we had last year or the speed. Both of those hurt the Defense and the Offense. NOt many holes are opening up for the offense. John was always a passing QB and good at it. STop bashing your own team. You should be pulling for them and picking them up when they are down.

Your right about that but I had heard some appaling stuff just before I wrote what I did so I got carried away in the heat of the moment based on something that may or may not be true. Once again I do apologize.

Ok honestly Gilmer makes alot of bad decisions trying to be the Option hero that Oswald was a year ago...
What everyone is forgetting is that Scott also had Elrick Jones running on the outside with him, and 5 Solid O-lineman to protect him up front. Lake also had something of a defense to protect their lead all game long.
So why does everyone bash Gilmer? Because he doesnt have the speed and elusiveness to get around a corner, or the mentallity to run over anyone. Watching him run around a corner, whenever it appears as if he is about to get hit, he does a little half spin and gets knocked over. I observed the second String quarterback, Cole Mueller during the Brazoswood game, and watched him sprint around a corner and instead of "spinning" Cole ran over one guy and stiff armed another, breaking 2 tackles and gaining an extra 3-4 yards on the ground. Also at the end of the Brazoswood game it looked like Gilmer didn't even care about attempting a come back... so Lake lost... That's why people bash gilmer....
If you really want to find a problem with Lake, look at both of the front lines. Chad Brandon (DT) goes down injured, Dave Anderson (DT) transfers to a smaller school and Tyson Fox (LG) breaks his leg. Coaches have kids that could be playing wide reciever playing offensive line, and has our best OT Brad Paul playing both ways to clog up holes on the DL as well. If a triple option team has no offensive line, then Geno won't be effective at all becuz lineman will be in his face from the start. If we have no inside game, then teams are gonna load up the outside and wait for Gilmer and a halfback (too many to list) to come around the outside. Which means, no offense. So ok i wrote an epic story about how lake's lacking offense.
Discuss..

Lakepride06...you have one flaw in your analysis. The offense is still getting its weekly yards. 460 yards against Creek is no sneeze. Geno got his yards in this game but he couldn't do it all. Lake's special teams have cost them 2 games in the 4th quarter. Every team practices hard each week to exploit this flaw (Creek spent 2 weeks preparing to block the kicks). Coaches at Lake are making mistakes with some pretty good talent.
Your right and everyone else notices it as well that Gilmer is not suited well for the option. He came up through ranks throwing the ball and beat every school in the district doing so. He continued to win when Lake changed to the option but that was against teams other than Pearland where speed mattered. Put Gilmer in the same scheme as Creek runs with their receiving core and I believe he would thrive. Thats one of the problems in High School football, you don't always have all the right players to fill in the gaps for a system you may have been successful with the year before. (Example: triple threat Oswald, Blow and Jones....tough to stop.) Creek was most worried about Geno the whole week because he was the one most capable of the big play. They stopped him the one time it really mattered.

theres to much talenet in Lake and to many players with a lot of heart and drive to not get a good showing. The option hasn't been stopped buts its been severly hindered which still allows it to put up solid numbers but there is no way this team can gain the amazing numbers of last year. I remember seeing a stat where oswald had nearly 400 yards in a game, we put up 400 against creek as a whole team.

Chronicle finally corrected the box score and lowered the total yards rushing from 460 to 360 while bringing Geno's totals down to 160. The fumble stat is where the game turned along with the two blocked kicks. Special teams and turnovers are killing Lake. Top offense statistically and second best back in 24-5A and in last place in district. Wheels aren't off but definately some steering and suspension problems.
