Exactly...OSU is going lower. Texas Tech barely beat Nebraska....had it not been for the idiot who decided to run with the football instead of kneeing it....idiot. ACC is much tougher...like it or not. And OU sucks so i can't see why the sips are making a big deal out of it.

And you can bet Lane Stadium aka "Hardest Venue to Play At" will be in the game.
Marcus is lookin' pretty good....told you he had a better arm than Mike. And Tech actually wants him to start running the ball more but he doesn't really want to...he likes passing :p

LUBBOCK, Texas -- Texas Tech starting safety Vincent Meeks could face up to two years in jail and a $10,000 fine after he allegedly violated his probation on a forgery charge.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Two Texas A&M football players have been charged with alcohol-related crimes after they shouted racial slurs outside a fast food restaurant.
SAN ANGELO - Edward Britton says his status with the Texas Tech football program is "still the same'' as when he signed and that he plans to move to Lubbock by early June to begin training for the upcoming football season.
Britton, who won the 100 meters at the Region 1-4A track and field meet Saturday, was arrested April 20 on a Class B misdemeanor theft charge. He was a two-time 2,000-yard rusher in high school at El Paso Montwood.
In conversations since his arrest with Texas Tech coach Mike Leach and assistant coach Dave Brown, Britton said he was given no indication that he's not still in good standing with Tech.
So don't act all self rightous...at least he was suspended what of these people right here in TEXAS  .

Mike Williams was kicked off the team...PJ Tucker (the best basketball player) was kicked off the team...Edwin McCullough and one other 5 star recruit form VY's class were not admitted due to grades...Aaron Ross was forced to take two years of classes before he was admitted because his grades weren't acceptable...Cedric Benson even sat out a game his junior year... your obviously some icognito aggy who has nothing else to talk about because your team is pathetic, and yeah OU sucks, but they will still beat A&M

With the new AP, Coaches and Harris polls out, Texas has a projected lead of .09 points over Virginia Tech for #2. Furthermore, the nerds are saying that if Texas can remain in the top 3 of all computer polls and keep their #2 ranking in the human polls, it's not possible for anybody to jump Texas for #2. Of course, everything changes Saturday when Notre Dame beats USC.

Tech SUCKS, just stop. My god, they have looked pathetic against the likes of Kansas and Nebraska, the only two teams with pulses they have played to this point. They should have lost to Nebraska, that was the luckiest break I have ever seen, that defied logic. Texas will beat them by 30 points without the game ever being close. If it weren't for the fact our defense and offense was already better I dont know if anyone has noticed how bad Tech's kick off and punt coverage is and how good Texas is at running those back...

Texas running back Cedric Benson was arrested early Saturday morning on charges of alleged possession of marijuana under two ounces, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of alcohol by a minor.
The arrest was made in Benson's hometown of Midland, but the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year posted bond Saturday morning and was back on campus Monday.
Marijuana possession is a Class B misdemeanor, which can result in up to six months in prison and a $2,000 dollar fine. The other two charges are Class C misdemeanors and can carry a fine of up to $500.
So did you want to kick him out of College football??? I think not so must be double standard then!!!

Marcus Vick needs to shadow Michael
Published: Thursday, February 19, 2004
Article Tools: Page 1 of 1
Mike Vick has withstood several temptations in his journey to becoming one of the NFL's best young quarterbacks.
Vick spent two years at Va. Tech with a flawless record off the field and has continued his good behavior over his first three seasons in the NFL.
While one Vick has set an example of what to do, another Vick, younger brother Marcus, is tarnishing the iconic last name.
The 19-year-old sophomore quarterback has managed to get caught sleeping with a 15 year old among several other things that big brother certainly would not approve of.
Marcus is being charged with four misdemeanor counts after housing and serving alcohol to three underage girls on Jan. 27.
The incident occurred in Vick's off-campus apartment that he shares with two other teammates, Mike Imoh and Brenden Hill.
All three were charged and were forced to pay $2,500 bail.
The affidavit stated that three girls told officials that they were served vodka and rum, which led to their table dancing and later strip show.
Two of the victims accused Vick of taking their friend to his bedroom and then proceeding to have sex with her.
According to Virginia State law, consensual sex with a child 15 or older is just a misdemeanor, but contributing to the delinquency of a minor is punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine for each account.
The Virginia Tech athletic department's code calls for no automatic suspension in a misdemeanor case, but will call for a review by the athletic director.
Which pretty much means if you're really good you'll get slapped on the wrist and if you're a role player you will be made an example by someone trying to save their own tail.
We all know that the game is bigger than any one player, but then again, that is contradicted time after time in sports.
It's not that I'm hating against Marcus Vick, because that could not be further from the truth.
What if next time the young man isn't so lucky and a young girl screams ****?
Now that would be a whole new ballgame.
Let's just hope baby brother can learn from Mikey.
Next time the Vick name won't be enough to get him off scott-free, especially if the charges are more severe.
Thank you talented athlete that has all the potential in the world.
Thanks for spitting in the face of all other thousands of NCAA competitors who actually sacrifice things for their team.
Those athletes are the ones I respect, the ones who will never play professionally, but still give their lives to the sports they love.
Forget Marcus Vick, and all the ungrateful prima donnas, who will be making millions in three years, while the real athletes will be struggling to find a job in this stiff job market.

Vick, the younger brother of Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, settled on the plea agreement rather than pursuing an appeal of a juvenile court conviction and 30-day jail sentence on three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
As part of the agreement, Vick received a suspended 30-day jail sentence, was fined $100 and ordered to perform 24 hours of community service. The judge also prohibited Vick from contacting the teenage girls who were at the party.
While Vick was acquitted of a charge of having sex with one of the girls, he was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $2,250 for the other charges.

I was not guilty in the court of law, but that does not mean that he was innocent. The kid was deserving of a second chance for what he did, but I feel he screwed that up when a few months later he was caught speeding and with marijauna. The bottomline is the kid did not learn his lesson.

I never said he WAS innocent my point is people say he should be banned from the NCAA for what he did(marijuana, alchohol) but their are others and they don't say that. If its one way for this person then it's one way for everyone. Go back and read the post and you will see how this got started. By no means is he innocent but you can't make a blanket statement about him without putting everyone else who has done the same thing in that statement.

I understand what you are saying and I think that the people that said Vick should be banned did not say that because of the alcohol and marijuana, but because of the incident with the girls. Many people like me do believe that his punishment was not severe enough for what he was accused of doing. I also do not think that he was punished enough for what he did against West Virginia. He needs to be held to a higher standard because of his previous infractions. In the NFL he would have been fined for sure.

The only reason why you all are making a big deal out of Vick is cause your scared of him and Va. Tech. I'm almost positive when I say this but I don't think he's the only player that has done that (flipping off fans of an opposing team). And if your flirting with a girl, do you stop and ask what her age is? Your more interested in other facts.

he was caught on tape doing it and has a past history of problems. If other kids have been doing it how come I have not see footage of it? Age is very important especially when serving alcohol

If it's someone from out of texas doing something wrong, you want them booted and Cedric Benson who was caught with drug possession should be kept...that's double-standard my friend. May wanna slide those heavily orange tinted sunglasses down just a pinch.
no, cedric was not caught serving alcohol to underage girls months before he was caught with the marijuana. Cedric was also not accused of having sex with an underage girl. I don't think these two cases are the same do you?

Accused and convicted 2 different things my friend. He was convicted of marijuana possesion and giving alchohol to some girls at a party as were the 3 other players who were at the party. Because it was his second time in trouble (traffic incident)he was suspended for a year. What else do you want???

I don't want anything else. I was just defending Cedric Benson. You said what Cedric did was the same as Vick. That is not true. I would have like to see him not start the game after WVU too. He needs to be held to a higher standard than the rest of his team because of his past improprieties

Higher standard OK first offense he and the 3 other players were suspended. Second offense he alone was suspended whole year. I mean whole year of eligibility for an athlete is a big deal. Flipping off a fan well....let's throw the book at him.
What is really amazing is right on this very board there was a discussion about a high school senior 19 having sex with a girl 15 and half the people defended the guy. In this case(Vick) he did NOT have sex with the girl, did not know her age, just accused and you call him a rapist. Same ages for both situations how is it one case is defended and the other is a rapist?? Personally, I would not call him innocent by any stretch but lets apply the same punishment to everyone not just a few.

I did not defend that kid on in the other forum. I would have like to see Vick not start the next game. I don't see a big deal with it. Just like Adrian Peterson did not start for missing class, but came in two plays later. I would like to see a similair thing with Vick, but it is not a big deal.

I bet you didn't say that when Cedric Benson got arrested for drug possesion and then later when he was sentenced for trespassing now did you!!
Cedric's drug case was a setup based on the facts, I believed he showed up at a party and it was raided, they found dope in a purse in another room and because he was in the apartment (that was not his) he was arrested and charged. Cedric was suspended for a game for the TV issue and the girl even tried to claim attempted ****, it did not fly I guess she was thinking civil suit. Marcus Vick was kicked off the team for that season because of his choices. If he has not change the NFL will not mess with him. All Texas needs to do is win all their games and whether or not they get into the BCS championship game claim to be the national champs and hold a parade and Piss off college football.

there are two human components, the coaches poll and the harris poll. They make up 2/3 of the BCS
Well dragon back to football... UT is catching USC in the polls but look again and
VTech is also closing the gap on UT. Will be interesting what the polls do if UT struggles with Colorado Saturday and I do say IF.

Never fear my Ut fans. It is early. Ask yourself who would win between Ohio state and West Va? Then Ask yourself who would win between NC state and OU? Who knows, but these are the only two quality opponents both UT and Va Tech have played so far this year. Despite what you think, Ga Tech is weak and by the end of the season we will all see. Is Texas win at Ohio state worth less than Va techs 4 pt win at NC state? I would say that their schedules are a wash. The BCS is giving credit for strength of schedule to tech for games that they have not even played.
Remember the BCS is about money and TV ratings.
How much would the BCS salivate over USC vs. Texas?
You have the two biggest states involved in a national championship game which would bring loads of TV viewers along with the UT alums which bring more money to the table than the whole state of Va.
Praise the almighty dollar, HOOK EM HORNS, and just let it happen.
Don't worry.

So how do you know Cedric was setup and it was for money, But Marcus who HAS A MILLIONAIRE BROTHER and 3 other football players having a party with 3 girls who posed as being of age was not a setup. What makes Benson any better??? I am confused how one guy is set up but the other could not have been. When I say setup I mean by the girls not the police.

You could be right but just for the sake of argument lets say Notre Dame throws a monkey wrench in all your big plans this week what will the BCS do then???

Texas will get the #1 Ap and coaches ranking if USC loses to the golden domers and then the debate will between USC VA tech and FSU to see who plays Texas. Again I am not worried and just like the year USC did not get to play, I predict you could see a split national championship. Everyone take care of business and let the cards (Er dollars) fall where they may.

lets take a deep breath and establish a few facts...if we kicked everyone out of college football who smoked pot .... well lets just say our black guys with dreadlocks count would go way down... that being said Dusty Dvoracek almost killed someone with a bat, he should not be allowed to play anymore period. Cedric Benson smokes pot...wooo...how about we try this, everyone on this board over 21 who HASNT smoked before can knock him....AND just to be fair, everyone on this board that hasnt gotten a 15 year old girl drunk and had sex with them can talk about michael vick...there you go, no double standards...

IF that is the case and $$$ is the issue you can bet they will find a way to get Notre Dame in the mix. A 1 loss Notre Dame playing in the NC over an undefeated team. Imagine that!!

I have an interesting take on the Penn State vs. Ohio State game. Many old school voters I think will favor VA tech over Texas, but I think they will favor Penn State the same amount as VA tech. If VA Tech and Penn State are undefeated I think that they will sort of split the "east coast" vote for the number two spot.
As for Texas gaining on USC, it helps when Texas has the national spotlight like it did against OU. The good news is they still have a big game against Texas Tech which may be ranked in the top ten and if Nebraska can run the table they will have a high profile matchup which people will probably will bring up the inaugaral (sp?) Big 12 championship game. If these things continue as well as USC coming out flat against inferior competition, plus a Reggie Bush injury. Texas may be able to continue to gain and widen the gap between second and third. Texas has a pretty wide gap in the Harris and I think that may be able to get bigger, but the gap in the coaches may get dangerously small by the season's end.
On the bright side, when I was looking at the big 12 schedule today I realized Texas still plays Colorado who is in the top 25, Texas Tech and a big 12 championship game. If Baylor beats nebraska and OU they may be able to squeak in the top 25 which would take a miracle, but it is possible. If OU runs the table as well they still could end the season ranked. The big 12 is down this year, but not as down as I originally thought.

Texas Tech appears to be the biggest challenger to Texas, and the Oct. 22 showdown with the Longhorns should be the biggest game of the season. Oklahoma is in the unaccustomed position of rebuilding, and Texas A&M's defense struggled even before it started playing South Division teams. Even Baylor still has legitimate bowl hopes and should escape the South cellar in front of struggling Oklahoma State.
The conference's mediocrity could be its biggest story down the stretch, particularly if it acts as a liability for Texas' national-title hopes. Texas appears in good shape in the human part of the Bowl Championship Series equation but will struggle in the computer polls because of the Big 12's lack of strength.
The Big 12 currently has only three teams ranked in the national polls, which matches the lowest number at this point of the season in the history of the conference. That means Texas' schedule likely will be weaker than any of the other potential national contenders.
Coach Mack Brown will have more trouble selling his team to the computers than he did last season to human pollsters. It might end up that the Longhorns got to the Rose Bowl a year before they really to needed to be there.
I Like this :D

I want to chime in, i think the whole Cedric case was proven that he was innocent of the marijuna, however a few other Texas football players got in trouble in madisonville when pulled over and found durgs in the glove compartment.
Now about Dusty Dvoracek, what he did was wrong and he was suspended for a season. However what Brock Edwards did to a 150lb frat boy was just as bad, caused the guy to have several reconstructed facial surgies. For anyone who does not remember the Brock Edwards incident, he was at a frat party, and beat the living hell out of some 150lb frat rat, Brock was a 6'4 250lb TE for Texas, what was his punishment or the difference between what he did and Dusty did?
