I'm afraid we're going to do something stupid like muff a punt at our own 10 yard line or so.
My fear in every game against a weak opponent is that we are going to take them lightly and get surprised...

This game will be a blow out. If lake can put up 28 before half and only give up 7 with their starters in, until they put in there back up's in. I expected Pearland to put up at least 28 by half and give up zero points the entire game. Carrier will have a big night as always.

Pearland wins in the first true blowout of the season. Starters out by the 3rd. I'd like to see backup QB Thatcher do well. He looks like he has a great arm in warm ups and I'm pretty sure he's faster than Allen. This will be my first game to miss because it falls on my birthday. Good game to miss because blowout win + homecoming + A bunch of Alvin people in our stadium = no fun.

Thou shall not lose to alvin in anything.
should be enough motivation to make this game a blowout.

That seems tobe the norm around here , the we played the first qtr. in creek nothing would surprise me.
There is no opponent that pearland can take lightly. remember b-wood was the district champs last year loosing only to !!!!! ALVIN. We are not good enough to start picking margin of victory , etc....

Man i dont know why everybody hates alvin so much. I know lake does becuase of the fight that broke out in the basketball game in 2003. It started with the players and ended up in the stands. It seems like you Oilers also have a strong disliking for them.

Offense may not be what we are accustomed to , "D" is better than we have had in years but along way from a dominate "D" (you will see once playoffs begins) Our defense may have scored once or twice this year can't remember. I think we avg. around 20 per game and give up about 9. This is good with the way the ground game works for us. hopefully we can get some shut down "D" working again here before the playoffs begin.

Yeah I remember that too. I think that was the year after we tore down part of their bleachers. It was probably a good idea the coaches quit scheduling that as a non district game. That rivalry could have gotten really ugly.

I can remember when GP put live yellow jackets through our windows and how hard it was trying to dodge the darned things during Texas history class. They were swarming everywhere. I can also remember when they painted Thunder black/gold stripes. Heck, my dad was a rebel in the 50s. He and a group of guys fed the Pasadena Eagle glass. That's when Pasadena used to be the team to beat. Rivalry now seems to be more vandalism than fun though.

Back in the 70's Deer Park broke into SOHO's locker room and somehow busted the septic pipes... SOHO got them back by slashing their bus tires after the game... Deer Park hung the La Porte bulldog in the late 90's...

Care to elaborate, I played for that team and I dont recall any cheap shots, and i know the guys that played in that game, so i would just like you to describe how my team was hateful after your viewing of one of our 13 games that season.
Now we did play with a chip on our shoulder, but that resulted in the fact of us being picked last and our district and picked to lose to laporte, but we went into that game respecting our are opponent especially the combination of boogie and castille. I dont remember any dirty plays in that game but i was playing and didnt get to see everyplay.
Earlier when i said that teams hated us, i meant the teams in 24 5A and if you played in that district, particulary baseball you know there is a lot of friction between the teams in 24 5A. And as far as i am concerned the rivalries between the teams make for fun competition.
Thanks

In the latter part of the game one of the BW guys did a late hit (intentional) and literally knocked one of the guys on to the track. It not only was a late hit but it really hurt the LP player. I can remember the people in the stands just gasping. It was on the LP side so you probably didn't see it. If a ref would have seen it I am sure it would have been an unsportmanship call. I just remember it made me sick to my stomach and there were some mad fans on the LP side. He literally threw the guy on to the track and being so close it made it even worse....seeing it up close and hearing it. I just asked my daughter if she remembered that and she said, "Oh yea." If there would have been a penalty then you might have remembered it.

When I was in school LaPorte slit all the tires on the North Shore band and drill team's buses....after they beat NS 72 to 0. We had to sit in the band hall until 1 in the morning.

I think if it would not have been so visible it would not have been so bad, and just hearing the fans gasp. When I hear BW now I think of that game and that association. I don't dislike any team and things can happen in the heat of the moment. It is very hard sitting in the stands as a "mom" so those kinds of things don't go over real well. It's in the past.

well heres answer to why people dislike bwood
from a soccer point of view, they are one of the dirtiest teams in district my sophmore year we stayed in LJ til midnight waiting for coach to get back from hospital cause a player took a cheapshot elbow to the face spliting his lip in half reguiring 8 stitches, and then last year we played down there and the coach cussed out one of our players, not to mention the officiating is equivolant of traveling to the rock to play gball.

Dang, pretty bad when the coach gets hurt by the players! I really don't know that much about BW. I'm thinking LP used to play them in the 90s when I followed LP, but I can't remember. I just went to the game last year because NS was out and I wanted to support the school my kids attend.

First of all its kind of funny how far this post got of topic, so ill take pearland against alvin by a few touchdowns
Now to touch on a few topics, first every team that plays each other every year has there own reason that they "hate" the other team.
Second that picture of the late hit on carrier is uncalled for, I was at the game and yes i agree it was late, but un purpose? highly unlikely. Every game has there late hits but it doesnt mean the players are playing dirty. It was unfortunate that carrier got hurt on that play.
And as far as who is the team to beat in 24 5a, well take your pick. 24 5A is one of the toughest and balanced districts in the state for baseball.

Poor Alvin. I can remember traveling to Alvin with LaPorte years back and I always felt sorry for them. Have you just ever wanted to stand up and cheer when the other team scored. That's how I feel about Alvin. I remember last year (but not the team), when the opposing team scored and all the fans on NS's side stood up and clapped and cheered.

We(offense) played sloppy actually. I mean we started pulling it together and each week we get a feeling of what it means to be that good of an offense that can help our defense get us into week 16. Hopefully we really pull it together next week at Ball.
It should have been 35-0 at the half, atleast.

beat me to it... offense didnt score in first quarter, fumbled on opening drive, we need to start putting things in order so that we can start and finish strong. Another strong finish with 2's and 3's playing some of 3rd and allof 4th quarter.

First game I missed this season but it's cool to hear that Ian Gray got some play time finally. He's a freaking monster. He needs to be dressing out just so we can send him out on coin tosses for the intimidation factor.
He was blocking a alvin lineman and it look a man vs a little kid no joke.

That would have been enough for me to hang up my high school football career.
