Fortunately no one from Conroe Oak Ridge was hurt, though the qb was knocked silly. The team was bad, but, man, I can't recall ever seeing a 5A school come with 25 fans and 22 band members in jeans. No drill team, no halftime marching band - and not much interest from the football squad.

The score was 37-0 with 2 minutes left in the first quarter. I've never been part of a game where a team could win 120-0 -- but the kids obviously just start coasting after a while. We applauded when OR got a first down - you gotta help out somehow.

I was really amazed at the lack of interest by the fans of Oak Ridge. I thought since they were 5A that they would have a large band/drill team and more fans. Does anyone know if this is normal for them to have such a small showing in the stands. I truly felt sorry for these guys because who were they playing for? It looked like noboby from their town/school cared they were out there. This just made me really proud to be from Lufkin and be able to give my support to our guys!!

You were probably like me -- checking your watch at 7:15 wondering when Oak Ridge would show up. Truly baffling... I didn't make it there last year - but I know they had a good rb and a much better team that last night - not sure about a marching band or drill team.

Again, this is Conroe, not some backwoods town with no money. The Conroe ISD is doing fine - not sure what the problem is at OR - I would be interested in someone who know's input also.

Pardon my ignorance but how tough is the Panther's schedule this season? 19-5A is weak this season and Katy is going to roll through it but it doesn't mean the Tigers aren't that good. I believe Lufkin probably has a top 10 team in Texas 5A this season but I'm just curious what District challenges are ya'll having?

None so far. Still have Klein Forest & The Woodlands (both at home in Old Abe). Klein Collins appears to be down from last year. Heard a lot of hoopla about this KF team that was going to rip Lufkin apart and A Woodz team with little offense took care of them. LP should roll through district play, but don't want to look too far ahead. ;)

The pack has not really been tested much, besides the Nac team which is going to be a good team this year. Our team should start to get tougher comp for here on out. Then we will know where we stand. Any team is beatable on a given night, but we take them one game at a time.We play every team as we get to them. The pack,s o- lone is getting the reps they need on these weaker teams, just to get ready for the tough guys.

I remember them having a drill team last year that must have not traveled. Why did the band wear blue jeans and why was there so few?? Odd i agree?? Maybe that made it optional on travel because they are not used to a trip like that i do not know?? Either way they was the most uninspired football team and crowd i have ever seen. :eek: Maybe they just knew they had no chance i do not know?? They were a good 4a team a few years ago. Sad thing is this!! That one first down was the only first down they had the whole game!! :eek:
