explain to me how SV got beat by Madison by two scores, and yet is able to remain much higher than Madison. explain to me how Judson is the only team in the district that is undefeated and yet is way behind SV in the rankings. If all 3 teams have the exact same record, Judson is the only team undefeated in district, and at the time of play, Judson had beaten two teams in the top 10 (Leander and Madison)......how can Judson not be ranked ahead of both Madison and SV? Yes Judson got throttled by Tivy, but isn't Tivy undefeated right now?

I am not saying Judson deserves to be top 10, so please don't try and overanalyze my post. Madison's success was for the most part dependent on DT. He's out for the year. If they played SV again without him, I believe SV wins. JMO though.

irregardless, Madison beat SV. You cannot take that away from them. Nor can you ignore the fact that Judson beat a top 5 team in the state last night.

Also, since Judson beat Leander, they share the same record, and Judson seems to have the tougher schedule, make sure that Leander stays below Judson.

I think a lot of people who attended the game were over-emotional after everything that went on last night....from what happened at Halftime, from fans falling out the stands,and to that gory UGLY image on the field that forced me to leave early and kept me from sleeping.

I actually think MNW was the BETTER team.....in this case, on this night...Hastings wasnt as good as Katy made them look. They have a team that allows them to take advantage of mistakes and Katy kept giving them chances....I agree......this may have been a good thing for Katy.

I actually think MNW was the BETTER team.

Could be, IMO Southlake was the better team that had a bad day. The outcome of games is more than what the two teams bring to the field. There's the element of turnovers, refs, funny bounces and happen stance on top of that goes into the make up of a game. It's clear that SLC played well under par. Ive watched them for 20 years, I dont know about you. Of course the quick comeback for that is to give credit to MNW for every miss step that SLC had which might be patronizing sportsmanship but isnt necessarily the truth.
Any game that has a team staying within 8 points while giving up 5 turnovers isnt automatically the worst team on the field. I think its fair to say that MNW was better that day. Or another way to say it is they made less mistakes. Of course that being MNWs 4th game and SLCs second didnt help matters.
MNW scored 27 points against SLC while utilizing 5 turnovers.
Rockwall scored 42 on SLC while utilizing 2 turnovers.

Rockwall had more yards passing and more yards rushing and more points against SLC without the benefit of 3 extra turnovers.

So what can we conclude from this? Is Rockwalls offense better than MNWs? It sure looks like it doesnt it? But what is reasonable to conclude is that when two teams face off just about anything can happen on that day.

offense gave up 7, of that 10 points scored by SGP. and on offense,

Permian will get tested this week, Abilene Cooper's D is also giving up very few points, we will see just how good Permian's offense is this week. It will be the first real defensive test they have faced this year (including ET). Cooper's defense is very soldi this year.

Madison is not the same without DT. Period. End of story. You cannot argue against that. He put up more yards than the team as a whole in at least one game (the team actually got negative yards against his positive to bring down the total).Judson may be undefeated in district, but polls are not based completely on record, and almost everyone except for a few Judson homers and reagan fans think that SV>Judson>DT-less Madison. Judson did win, but against a team who was not the same as the week before. Madison minus DT does not in any way equal Madison with him. You cannot say that if Mad beat SV and Judson beat Mad then Judson is better than SV.

I'd like to make a correction to my original list. I had Klein instead of
Klein Oak at 20, without knowing the score of this Tomball game. I
think Klein has a pretty good team and might also deserve top 25
ranking and may very well best Klein Oak when the time comes, but
I'd like to see more of the undefeated teams start to bubble up into the
top 25 is my main point in this list, and Klein Oak is certainly one
deserving of more recognition. Some team from that district will
likely advance in the playoffs.

Well, I'll give him credit for creativity. :p I don't understand the need to puff up before a game saying we (or anyone else) has never faced someone as good. Like what we fans think is gonna make a difference. Good grief - good teams take every opponent they face as the next real test. :rolleyes:

SLC played a horrible team this week and the score was expected. I think Katy should keep thier Number 1 ranking. They did show some vulnerability but so has SLC, in some past games. With that said i think SLC would have handed Katy thier A** friday night. The coach's aren't ready for a really good spread team, obviously.

Without commenting on the entire top 25, if I were voting, I would keep Katy at #1 this week. I did not see their game, but they did manage to win. Certainly every game is not going to be a thing of beauty, even if we all would like them to be. So at the moment, it is:

Madison is not the same without DT. Period. End of story. You cannot argue against that. He put up more yards than the team as a whole in at least one game (the team actually got negative yards against his positive to bring down the total).Judson may be undefeated in district, but polls are not based completely on record, and almost everyone except for a few Judson homers and reagan fans think that SV>Judson>DT-less Madison. Other than the Denton Ryan game that is one place Abilene's D has been strong is not giving up points.

Permian will get tested this week, Abilene Cooper's D is also giving up very few points, we will see just how good Permian's offense is this week. It will be the first real defensive test they have faced this year (including ET). Cooper's defense is very soldi this year.

explain to me how SV got beat by Madison by two scores, and yet is able to remain much higher than Madison. explain to me how Judson is the only team in the district that is undefeated and yet is way behind SV in the rankings. If all 3 teams have the exact same record, Judson is the only team undefeated in district, and at the time of play, Judson had beaten two teams in the top 10 (Leander and Madison)......how can Judson not be ranked ahead of both Madison and SV? Yes Judson got throttled by Tivy, but isn't Tivy undefeated right now?

I am not saying Judson deserves to be top 10, so please don't try and overanalyze my post. I just feel that if all 3 of the 26-5A teams have the same record, but one is undefeated....the undefeated team should be ranked highest. I am trying to be objective. That wasn't a #1 that played last night. I'm with the Tigers all the way. Hasting came into our House on Homecoming and gave us a dam good scare. The Marshall Buffaloes went into Crump and although trailed for a while, soundly beat Hastings. Yes, I know Klein beat Marshall and Katy beat Klein, but we should have won this game easily. I am emotionally drained. Think I need that same medication CyFallMom is on.

As for the meds, it's only for the thyroid - don't think it makes my cheering any louder or my post-game depression any deeper:D. This week I didn't have post-game depression - after I heard the results I raised my hands in the air and gave it a "Thank you Lord" and "Way to Go Eagles" kind of thing and then remembered I was sitting in an Italian restaurant on Long Island where they play football to 500 fans on Sat. afternoons to fairly little fanfare - they don't get it like we do! I left with a big smile on my face though and slept like a dream - even without the computer access!!

irregardless, Madison beat SV. You cannot take that away from them. Nor can you ignore the fact that Judson beat a top 5 team in the state last night.


And that is why a poll is updated weekly. The poll is always evolving. What happened last night has much more merit, than what happened last month. Three weeks ago, Madison was a better team than SV OR Judson. Without DT, I am not sure the same can be said. In a little over a week, we will see who is better between Judson and SV. Judson is playing pretty good ball right now. So is SV.

To take your logic, you are saying that Judson should never be ranked higher than Kerrville Tivy. Do you honestly think that Tivy would beat Judson by three plus scores, if you were to play again? Teams evolve at different rates. Some teams start strong, and level off, while others start slowly and gather momentum.

The polls are adjusted accordingly.
