Consol 28 - Killeen Ellison 27

Rare thursday night game for us on the road in Killeen. Consol was still in a bit of a hangover after giving away the game last week to Temple. Ellison goes up 21-0 in the first half. Consol battles back 21-14 at the half. Consol D was struggling again. Offense didn't help them by giving Ellison a short field in the first half with two fumbles.

2nd half, it was like a different team. I'm really proud of these kids for not tanking it after going down 3 scores. Ellison scored their fourth TD to open the 2nd half, but missed their PAT kick, so 27-14. Consol battles back 27-20, but misses their PAT kick. Fourth Q and Consol has a long drive down the field and scores, then executes a flawless fake kick 2 point pass. 28-27.

Still 4-5 minutes left. The consol D had to come up with two huge stops on consecutive Ellison drives and then the O came in and chewed up hte rest of the time with several first downs.

It sure feels good to see some kids stepping up and being playmakers. All phases of the game seemed to get significantly better tonight in the 2nd half. It's like they were sleepwalking the first quarter. Hopefully this is a turning point for the season for us.

I doubt anyone reads all this, since we're in a bit of a down year. But, the good guys pulled off another road district W.

I hope this game turns out to be the one we look back at as "turning the corner" this season. We'll know next week when they play Bryan. Always a tough game.

i was at the game! i wasn't even thinking before hand. we could have met up. congrats on a good game! consol made good halftime adjustments . on another note, everybody on the ellison side loved the "little person" drum major. they all thought she was so awsome!
