The is a team on the coast, can remember which, that has a goofy little boat that goes up and down the track after a touchdown. This was about 20 years ago though.

Some of these names alone are enough to keep me from wanting to set my kid up for years of mental anguish!
I just can't envision a buttload of fans from across the field, frantically shaking "weenies" with a great deal of enthusiasm.

We got the Kentwood Kangaroos over here in Louisiana..They are actually a 1A powerhouse..
Also, Britney Spears was a Kangaroo...Britney from Kentwood-go figure, huh...

Yep, went good with the "mythical" national championship too. A "mythical" mascot gets a "mythical" championship. How do they even know they were green anyway? "Puff" the magic dragon was I guess, but thats another story. The white fits in there to for the zig zags. Not sure where the black plays in..

You have no idea what a Button is do you! Central Catholic was at one time a feeder to St. Mary's U. St. Mary's mascot is the Rattlers and a baby rattlesnake is a Button. Not like a Button on you shirt. So it is really not hilarious.

Bridgeport's used to be the Lady Bulls -- really. But they've gone back to their traditional name, the Sissies -- again, really.

Yuma High School is the oldest standing high school in Yuma, Arizona. It was erected in 1909 and earned its mascot, the Criminal, after the school burned down and the students had to finish their classes in the Yuma Territorial Prison. The football team also went on to win the State title and the nickname was given by other schools, it stuck and was later officially adopted. YHS is the only school in America that has a copyrighted high school mascot.

Actually the army also had the Sheridans in the 60's & 70's. The Marines contiuned to use them well into the 80's. I was in the Army 35 years ago.

i cant believe nobody has seen/heard of the team in new braunfels. not sure what school it is, but i saw a sticker on the back of one of the cars and their mascot is a Unicorn. i also saw them playing in 7 on 7 during the summer

My wife went to Fordyce (Arkansas) High School, home of the Redbugs. The team is named after everyone's favorite insect, the chiggar, but for obvious reasons that name was not used. Even better, the girls teams are the Ladybugs and the junior high teams are the Babybugs. The even use a Ladybug as the logo on their helmets.

I still like the Sundown Roughnecks and the Roscoe Plowboys. I wish that they would open a school near the ghost town of Thurber and call them the Thurber Mighty Ghosts. Their fight song could be to the theme of the Addams Family.:Music

I actually met a man one time that was raised in Winters, Tx who dated a girl from Blanket, Tx and they were married in Comfort, Tx.

Every time we drive past Forney, my husband says, "I still think their mascot should be the Gator".

My old boss was from Robert Lee, same district as Roscoe, and he said the junior high teams were called the Clodhoppers. I guess the girls HS teams were the Plowgirls.
Also, the town of Ferris, what is their mascot? I would guess they are the Ferris...... Wheels!
