Texas Tech University.
We have a crazy Pirate Coach that runs the best offense in the country.
A firebreathing basketball coach that's a loose cannon, but a great example in many ways at the same time.
We have a spirited group of passionate fans (Not counting the blue hair that sits on the west side of Jones). Tech never will have the most fans, but we love our team. We high-five and talk up other Tech fans when we see them because we're an extended fraternity of brothers and sisters. So far, nobody is a Tech fan because it's the cool, bandwagon thing to do.
We're aloof, crazy, and different. We definitely march to the beat of a different drummer. The cool thing is we enjoy the banter and back and forth of college rivalries. Some get bent out of shape, but most just enjoy the pranks and teasing. It's cool to root for the outsider, 3rd party team.
People like to talk trash abut Lubbock, but most of us like it OK. I prefer Lubbock to many places in Texas and it's fine that others want to live elsewhere.
We're proud to not be Aggies or Longhorns and most of us don't wnat to be like either of them. We're also proud to be from Texas unlike the Oklahoma teams that have to import their talent. Some of us like me really enjoy the fact that Tech steals more players out of Oklahoma and Arkansas than anybody else in Texas. It's about time we get back part of what Oklahoma takes from us.
