Wow 29 Seconds TD McGee. I had a sick feeling that Lee might win this one, but Vondrell pretty much erased it with his last carry.

Lee is doing a great Job upfront clogging the holes its just that McGee is getting to the edge.. As I am Typing I will say never mind TD Chris Ivory 13 yard pass from Freemen.

Tyler Lee looks horribe. No wonder they have lost SO many games. I heard Lee is playing without 4 starters....QB/OL/DL. Trinity could have scored triple digits against this team!!
SLC puts 8 in the box and stops Longview. Longview would have a very difficult time passing on SLC. I think SLC would give Longview a pretty good beating!! SLC defense matches-up very well against Longview!!

I feel sorry for Lee, they're banged up and obviously not playing with any confidence. It's a fine line in High School Football between playing with confidence and playing with uncertainty. I'm afraid the brutal schedule they've played has taken its toll. As for Longview, I would rate them a notch below Southlake and dead even with Euless Trinity. Vittatoe is a better QB than Carlin and the backfield of Nance and Handy versus McGee and Ivory is almost dead even. O-line goes to Trinity, but the biggest separation may be the receivers. I think Longview's are noticably better than Trinity's They have size and athletic ability that is superior to Trinity's. Very impressed with the Lobos, they won't be challenged until the playoffs. Would love to see them and Trinity get together!

If the Lufkin/Longview...somehow ends up in Waco...which it won't....but I hope it does...pre-game B-B-Q and post-game beer bash is a Wide's house....who's comin'?
If Lufkin/SLC play...pre-game B-B-Q and old school/new school football game at Cameron Park....post game beer bash at Wide's...if Lufkin wins...everybody is invited...in the event that Lufkin loses...only Lufkin natives are allowed at the beer bash...

Longview has one heck offense and is more likely can beat Euless Trinity! Imagine if Malcolm Kelly was playing in there if he was a senior, This team would be have been the best team like 2003 North Shore. I am telling you, Longview is one heck offense and ok defense. We lost our 1st QB.

Now, now.....that sounds familiar....8 in the box was going to stop Katy in 2003. James Aston had about 300 yards in that game as I recall, and a state championship to boot ;)

Unfortunately I havent had an opportunity to catch the entire game(damn work) however from what I've seen with score already 35-7 I've seen very few kinks in Longviews armor. However I'm only gonna disagree with the Great Evaluator on Longview having better receivers than Trinity. However since I have plenty of respect for Eval it aint worth debating. Pt. is this has been a nearly flawless performance as the 3rd quarter plays out.

That's because Tyler Lee fans are wishy washy and were originally JT fans, but have since abandoned them for the "up and coming team". You'll start to see more JT fans after this game. They'll just slowly migrate their way back over until the stands look like JT's games at the end of last season.

Rose Stadium is ridiculous trying to get in and out of. First of all, there are only two tiny two lane roads in and out of the stadium, so it bottlenecks you in, and then there are a bunch of police officers and traffic people who have no idea what each of them are doing when it comes to showing you where to park. A cop will send you one way, only to be sent back another way by another cop. When you finally figure out to just park in a neighborhood nearby, it still takes nearly 30 minutes to walk to the stadium and make your way through the ridiculous amount of people.

Well...I said Longview was the team to beat in DII back in June and I still stand by that statement. Chris Ivory would start at tb at virtually every school in Texas except 2 or 3. McGee is possibly the best rb in Texas, and hasn't even played a full game yet.
Yes, Lee was pretty whipped going in, but Longview had this game salted midway through the first qtr. and Lee is at least the fourth best team in this district. I think Lee will regroup and fight for the final spot - but who knows.
Longview is very good, no glaring weaknesses at all. They are solid, though not spectacular on D. The O is pretty darn lethal.
Smaller Weaknesses for Longview? Freeman has essentially no arm strength - any pass over 25 yards is going to be much easier to defend with a good secondary. As someone stated - Longview will have to contend with 8 in the box against good teams - and Freeman will have to deliver. He's certainly capable - but he's not a top 10 qb in Texas. Plus, a good D line will get hands up when he passes. The kid is 5'8" in shoes. And, Longview's D is going to be at least a little suspect on pass coverage. The D line is good, but not super fast, and the d-backs are good, but smaller (as are most).
Longview is a bit banged up on D - but that D is plenty good enough to beat anyone but SLC right now. I think they still have two D starters out, not sure of their status. Bottom line - I see no upsets to Longview before a deep playoff run.
I also think we need to remember they played a Lee team that is just plain defeated right now. Hope Lee regroups - sad to see.

Freeman has essentially no arm strength? You obviously weren't watching the game. He threw two or three bullets in one drive. He can't throw on the run but you give him time and he can throw very well. Pound for pound the best qb in 5a.

Im not real sure that be effective for the entire game...SLC's defense is no where close to air tight and when they play a team that can score as much as them and play defense (Lufkin, ET, Longview, Westfield, NS) they will more than likely have a difficult run. But hey who doesn't. Im just not sold on the "outscore me if you can" theory. That can't work for too much longer. Right?

Longview's ticket is punched - barring injuries - or a horrendous upset. I think Lufkin could very well be there for SFA Round 2 - or wherever it is played, but lots of football before that, so, I'll refrain.
Sorry to burst your bubble Rclisle - your green-tinted glasses are a little strong. Freeman is a very solid qb - likely good enough to wear a state ring. And, because I like Longview - I'll back off of that statement a little. Compared to the elite qb's in Texas - his arm strength is noticably inferior. And, his lack of arm strength could be an issue. Don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about - I do - I've watched the kid several times -- and, unlike you, I'm unbiased. His pick against LP last year was a 20 yard out that floated badly - a beaten Ayres had ample time to step in front of it. Don't tell me about a 12 yard bullet - show me a 30 yard pass with tremendous zip/pop on it -- and I'll watch. His passes last night were on the money and his execution was solid, other than when he tried the cutesy hide the ball on your hip for 5 seconds that Lee snuffed out on the 5. Freeman won't beat you if you play Lobo ball - but his limited arm strength could be an issue. If Longview HAS to leave it's run orientation - they are in trouble.

Man for man, the SLC D matches up against Longview very well. I believe they will stop the run and Longview will struggle in their passing game. The SLC D struggles some with defending the spread. The old style of offense Longview runs suits SLC VERY well. SLC will backout of the 8-9 in the box once they get well ahead. Longview has never seen a passing game like SLC. This is not smack, it is personal opinion and not intended to stur up the longview faithful! I think Lufkin, Abilene & SV pose more of a threat to SLC but that is why they play the games!!

I thought Lufkin's ticket was punched in 2003 but they ended up getting punched in a shocking upset in the 1st round. Once a team believes they have it made is when they will lose. Favpack my friend, if you were watching the game last night you would have seen 2 30 yd passes with plenty of zip on them. They were perfect passes. One was dropped by our best WR and the other was caught by Mcgee. I've been watching this kid throw 40 yd bombs for three years now. I know very well what he is capable of. I said pound for pound this kid is the best QB in Texas, of course I know there are D1 recruits much better than him in some aspects. That's not green tint, those are facts.

You're obviously on up-to-date on Lviews offense. This is probably the best pass team in the history of LHS. We practice it alot but don't use it often b/c noone can stop our run game. You have it twisted, Lview will control the clock and not allow SLC to score 100 points and in the end your D will be dog tired and won't be able to finish strong.

I've said it on other sites, I'll say it again. As much as you'd like to think, you are not as strong without a 40 TD season from J Lane. You WERE NOT stopping Vondrell. When a guy shreds your D for 180 yards on only 18 carries and 2TDs, that is an embarrassment. We lost that game due to pride on a players part who didn't want to tell the coach about a broken hand, thereby costing the game. Those aren't green tinted glasses either. Those are facts you can't ignore. NOTHING like that will happen again. In the event of a rematch with Lufkin, I guarantee you the first time one of those guys fumbles , they're heading to the bench.

I would not start discussing recipies for Crow just yet! There is a lot of football to be played yet and anything can happen. With the Dragons, you have to stop the offense. Has longview ever faced an offense that Averages over 600 yards a game? The SLC defense is called on to make 2 or 3 stops a game and then give the ball to the offense. If you can make the Dragons punt 3 or more times a game you have a chance.
Tyler Lee's defense was able to force Longview to punt. When you play the Dragons, if your offense has to punt then you lose. That has been the formula for over 3 years now.
Until you have seen the Dragons play you do not understand my statements. I have seen Longview play and the Dragons play. Longviews secondary will be tourched, and when you adjust to protect the secondary the runners from SLC will pick up over 300 yards.

See what i mean Lufkin always gets involved in these topics and no no no!! losing 9 in a row to one team in 6 years is embarrassing not giving up 180 yards to a stud rb. Getting shutout on your homefield is embarrassing like Lufkin did to your beloved Lobos in 2003 not giving up 180 yards to a stud rb. I have never in my life heard so many excuses for a 10 point loss in my life. Yall have to get that under control it is embarrassing. The last time i checked when 2 even teams go at it the one who turns the ball over more loses 99 percent of the time. This is not earth shattering news it has been going on since the beginning of football. Get over it already!! it has been close to a year and your lobos still LOST the game!! Do you see us Panther fans making excuses to SLC fans about last year's game every 5 seconds?? NO!! Because we are man enough to admit our losses. Try it sometimes it is a good tension release technique!! ;)
Yall have a great team once again and i usually cheer for Longview vs everybody but Lufkin but some of you guys are making it extremely difficult.

We most certainly have. The defense held them to season lows each time.

I have seen Lufkin play a lot of teams and SLC without a doubt is the best offense i have ever seen at the hs level. Yes Lufkin held them well below their average in yards and points in both games but it Lufkin rarely ever gives up 30 points in a game and SlC scored 30 plus both times. Lufkin scored 30 both times but the SLC defense just has to be solid not great. Trust me, their offense is special!! A slc vs Longview game would be fun to watch but i sure hope it does not happen. ;)

Last time I looked there were only a few teams averaging over 600 yards a game and none of them were Longviews opponents before you played them. (if they were then by your defense holding them to season low averages then that would mess up their average). I am not trying to downplay what Longview has done to date. Just trying to shed some light on claims that have been made in the jubilation of a great season to date.

I'm referring to past teams with defenses not as good as the one this year. Both were coming in with lots of yards and got dominated.

Speaking from experience here. Pride cometh before the fall! I am not saying Lufkin will beat Longview again this year. Heck! I don't even know if they will get a chance to play each other this year.
I'm just saying coulda, woulda, shoulda is getting old. You say broken hand (I've also heard thumb?). I say hard hitting defense.
Two years ago at this time of the season I was looking forward to a Lufkin/SLC rematch.
BAM!
The wheels came off.
Anything can happen to a team. Anything!
BTW...I was just watching a replay of last year's game this morning. At the top of the broadcast they were saying Lufkin was willing to let McGee have his yards. The key was to stop Ivory. Broken hand (thumb) or not, stop him Lufkin did.
That was last year though. This year is different.
Longview is a great football team. So is Lufkin, SLC, Westfield, North Shore, SV, etc. (Attn posters: If I left your favorite team out of this list it was unintentional.)
Play the games and the playoff matchups will take care of themselves.

True, but even if you stopped Ivory, which you did, he hadn't fumbled before that game. Suddenly fumbles 4 times in one game. Seems a bit fishy to me... It's not like we hadn't faced a hard hitting D that year.
But you're absolutely right. Would couda shoulda is a horrible way to go, but I guess it's a good thing that it's the fans saying this, not the team. The coaching staff have done a good job of programming them into thinking only one game at a time.

LOL Big Arab - you make it sound like there was an odd conspiracy - it was "fishy" that Ivory coughs it up 4 times. How about Freeman's pick in that 4th qtr. drive? Did he have a sprained tooth? Give it up man - you're just asking for a thrashing on this forum when you come here with lame excuses.
After all you went through that day - Freeman can still march the team down and win. In fact - you had plenty enough time to ram McGee down our throats one last time -- and pull out the win.
Hummm, you seem to have forgotten - we SHUT DOWN McGee in the second half my green friend. He was held in check and Longview got 7 points after halftime adjustments. Seems your memory just won't admit you got beat by 10 by a better team that day.

I think he meant it was not a coincidence that Ivory had 1 maybe 2 fumbles coming into the game with Lufkin and then has four in one game. It just reinforces the FACT that Ivory had a broken hand. Why is that so hard for some to grasp? I'm over last year but when it is brought up I will discuss it. I know Lufkin fans would love to credit their defense for the fumbles but that would be giving them too much credit. I think it will be much more difficult for Lufkin to meet us again this year. Pflugervile played with y'all for a half last year and then Lane won the game in the second half. Without Lane to bail you out we might be seeing Pflugy in the third round. I sure hope not though. In my opinion it will be a long day for Lufkin if we meet again.

Tsk, tsk - you boys just can't stand it when you get beat -- I've never seen people obsess with the past so much. Did Ivory's broken hand factor into Freeman's 4th quarter pick by Ayers that salted the game away. Oh, no wait - Jorvorski made that interception.
All your doing by talking this broken hand bit is admitting your coach must have had a brain freeze that day - he kept calling Ivory's number - lol. As I said - what was wrong with Freeman when he threw the pick? I think it was windy that day - or the sun got in his eye.
You guys are too funny.
I'll admit Lufkin was a one person team last year and doesn't stand a prayer this year in going anywhere when Longview admits the Lobos are the same one trick pony with McGee this year -- and will most assuredly be an "over-rated" team next year.

41 & Bleed,
Don't get your panties in a wad. Just because we think differently doesn't call for a bunch of homer crying!! If you guys would have read on, I clearly stated, "It is my opinion" & "that is why they play the game."
Longview looked good last night. I have to throw a disclaimer in there too because they whipped-up on a really down & out football team. I doubt Lee will even make the playoffs.
I hope you guys really don't think there is not a team in the State of Texas that could stop your running game. SLC has slowed/stopped many runningbacks in the State of Texas. The one that comes to mind is Evans at Irving HS. He averages 200-300 yards consistently a game against others. He has had very little luck against SLC. He is a very highly recruited runningback and may be very good if he keeps his nose clean. Please notice above I put slowed and not stopped.

That's not green tint, those are facts.
the one pass that sticks out is when the cornerback had time to recover and knock away a potential touchdown the receiver had his man beat...we don't have to stand up and speak for carlin...he played well last night...King shut down the attack because King is not like many coaches, he is not out to embarrass a team just secure his win and get home with his guys intact and leave the other teams program with some dignity...I just hope he doesn't miscalculate against SLC...the starters should be ready to go in that game at least 3 quarters, i don't care what the score is

I like Kurt Warner because he's a good guy.
and I'm not Arabic in any way, so you can keep any kind of racist comments to yourself. I'm as white as they come.

First off....
Kurt Warner is one of the most over-rated QB in the history of the league....period....why do you think he played in the Arena League?
and if my name was ...............WideBaptist...................don't you think people would at least ask questions....?
Like putting Arab in your username was cool....if you are not in fact an Arab............

And if you are................f'...you...............9/11...I wil never forget that day...
Say what you will, but you don't exactly pass for 4800 yards as a fluke, no matter who your supporting cast is.
And as far as the "cool username", This has been my nickname for 10 years before 9/11. But how dare you try and even lump people of all races into categories. With your logic, all black people should hate white people for the combination of slavery and atrocities before, during and after the civil rights movement. You don't see blacks walking up and down the road with banners that say "I will remember January 7th."
Stop being ignorant.

This is about High School football, not religion, race, politics. If you want to rant about something other than football go somewhere else to do it. This site is dedicated to and created to allow us "Has Beens", "Never Were's", "Proud Dads (and Moms)", and students to have some fun discussing a game played by 16-18 year olds. All of the other stuff belongs on other sites that chater to that fare.

Fact still remains...you tried to call me out as if you knew something about me. I, in turn, called you out as if I knew something about you. I apologize, but what you said in two separate threads is uncalled for.

Why argue or get so personal?
Nobody knows who either of you are.
Both of you should get over it.
