I just dont understand all these polls. I know i shouldnt get bent out of shape about it but no one is giving ns any credit. SLC #1 give me a break i know they won the tittle and havent been beaten but id pick ns over them anyday this season and that goes for all the rest of the teams except westfield i think they are the true number one team. Polls are meant to be played out over the course of a season. Like everyone else in the state, North Shore will get what they deserve when all is said and done on the field.

your opinion is your opinion, i guess???? SLC are the reining state and national champs----until they lose or NS beats them(which i don't think would happen anyway), they deserve to be #1.....plus, there are a few other teams out there that might want to make the same claim that you have made about NS..............

For a team to be #1 they have to win a few games and at least a State Championship. As far as I can see SLC have done it all. Checking the records I see the following achievements :-

SLC Record :-

3 - Consecutive 5A State Championship games – Current State Champions
2 - 5A State Champions
Unbeaten in all 5A regular season games
Unbeaten in all 5A district games
6 – active current consecutive play-off wins
17-1 : 5A play off record.
21 – active current consecutive wins

North Shore Record :-

1 – 5A State Championship game
1 – 5A State Championship
0 - active current consecutive play-off wins
15-10 - 5A play off record
5 – active current consecutive wins


Yes, I can now see why you would think that SLC are overrated at #1 in most polls. Yes, I can see now that you have real genuine grievance that North Shore is not ranked higher. The numbers do speak for themselves and I can now see that everyone is doing North Shore a great disservice. I just cannot understand why most people would consider SLC #1 and not give that honor to North Shore.

After your performance against Dobie, I doubt seriously that you will get beaten by Westfield this year. I had my doubts about Shore after the Woodlands game because they just don't have it all together this year. But you have picked up the pace substantially and I don't see anyone in D1 that you could'nt take down. But, there's a lot of games to be played.

NS is a good team this year but not a great team. The jury is still out. SLC would probably beat them (although there would be a heckuva fight) but as I've said in other threads SLC's D is suspect to me and so is NS's O. Yeah, maybe if Shore was in D2 like SLC there might be more titles, who knows? Right now, SLC is ranked no1 for good reasons. I myself think Westfield would take them but it's only my opinion. :D

It is historicly harder to be the D2 champion because it is 1 more game and the higher number of better teams go D2. If you are suggesting that D2 with the likes of Abilene, Lufkin, SLC, Longview, Irving, IMac, Smithson Valley, etc is the lesser of the divisions then I would have to disagree with you!

SLC has won 2 State Championships in 3 years and has been in each of the last 3 State Championship games! SLC has played more football the last 3 years than any other team in the state of Texas! Since moving to 5A in 2002, SLC has played 16 games a season! This year the SLC offense is more explosive than any of the last 2 years!

North Shore might look great after beating Dobie (who?). But you have to get er done in the playoffs to be #1.

thats a tough assumption to make...... either way... because the two champs dont play each other... however.. the only way that even holds a little water is if you are basing it on the # of games they play.. but.. thats why we have playoffs.. to PLAY the games.... not basing it on the # of ranked teams in div I as opposed to Div II...so.. i dont buy the fact that ppl say one div is tougher than the other.. they both are tough.. and its funny how you say div II is tougher.. especially since you are a regular in the Div II playoffs.... id be willing to bet that there are also many regulars in Div I that say its just as tough... etc etc... just depends on what side of the fence you are on

I said "think again". You can't reach a conclusion year in and year out which division is tougher. In 2004 D2 was probably tougher. Over time who knows?

Look i didnt say i thought NS should be number one but im tired of NS not getting the credit they deserve. Like i said i wasnt trying to affend anyone or make anyone mad? Some people took this the wrong way. But NS is a lot better than everyone thinks this year i just cant wait till the playoffs so everyone can see. Oh and D1 is tougher you have bigger faster powerhouse teams playing. And for the whole NS V. SLC i dont know but im pretty sure shore would win. This year atleast.

You remarked "who is Dobie?" but I can't see SLC's schedule being much different than NS's. I can easily say "Who is Grapevine? or "Who is Collyville Heritage?" And yes, you have to get it done in the playoffs. Believe me, NS's win over Dobie has not convinced me they will win a state title this year. I will say again I think Westfield is the best team in the state this year.

plus this year to be in the top ten carries alot of weight....probably the best(deepest) top ten texas has ever had. katy has one of its best teams(compared very close to a katy #1 2000 team) and they are ranked #6....that right there says alot about the top ten this year. man what a year this is. I cant wait for the 3rd season.

Dead serious. I think in 96 and 2001, Shore could have taken the title in D2.
Like SLC this year, '01 NS had an unstoppable offense. You could only beat them by out scoring them (sounds funny 'cause that's how you win) but since you could not stop them offensively you had to match them score for score and that's what Madison did in the playoffs. Might've been the only team in the state that could do that. Possibly Lufkin with MCneal.

nobody knows what will happen in the playoffs.westfield is far from unbeatable.i watched the ganders give this so-called powerhouse a lesson in the passing game.if baytown lee can pass on westfield then northshore will be able to as well.the only thing different is north shore is a far superior team than baytown lee.i see this game telling who will win it all this year.
