Wow, I realize how clueless I have been when going back and looking at my top 20 in past weeks and seeing how they've fared.

But I do think North Shore and Cy Ridge have separated themselves from the pack of contenders chasing after the clear #1, Katy.

Strake Jesuit is about to crack my top ten, but not just yet. I think it's getting to be obvious that Cy Fair is really missing a healthy Sam. Am wondering if ESPN2 wouldn't rather switch to Falls vs. Ridge.... ??

Anyway, here goes this week's effort (which will be next week's humiliation):

1. Katy (4-0, beat Alief Taylor 38-0.)
=============================================
2. North Shore (4-0, beat Deer Park 38-17.)
3. Cy Ridge (3-1, beat Langham Creek 55-13.)
=============================================
4. Pearland (4-1, beat Clear Lake 42-17.)
5. Brazoswood (3-0-1, idle.)
6. Cy Falls (3-1, beat Cy Creek 57-32.)
7. Hou Lamar (3-1, beat Chavez 28-7.)
8. Stratford (3-1, beat Spring Woods 35-23.)
9. Clear Lake (4-1, lost to Pearland 42-17.)
10. West Brook (3-1, beat Atascocita, 44-6.)
11. Strake Jesuit (4-0, beat Cy Fair 21-14.)
==============================================
12. Nimitz (4-0, beat Northbrook 32-0.)
13. Galv Ball (4-1, beat Alvin, 27-12.)
14. Pas Memorial (3-0-1, beat Rayburn 41-0.)
15. Clements (5-0, beat Kempner 42-7.)
16. Westside (3-1, beat Milby 35-6.)
17. Cy Fair (2-2, lost to Strake Jesuit 21-14.)
18. Langham Creek (3-1, lost to Cy Ridge 55-13.)
19. Marshall (3-1, beat Willowridge 14-0.)
20. Mayde Creek (3-1, beat Katy Taylor 14-10.)

OK, I'm ready. Bring it.

I was wrong about Langham Creek, Pearland, and Klein. To me Klein must be pretty dam good and CyRidge is right there with them.

North Shore and Pearland are equal in my book. North Shore has been real quick out of the gates the last 3 years but seems to improve very little as the seaon goes on(I blame it on the bad district that doesn't give them a chance to figure out their weaknesses). Pearland is the opposite. I think it's gonna be a coin flip by the time we face them in the playoffs...

So you would actually rank Klein higher than Pearland. That's good info. Let's see what the KTs do in their top 25. I would too, based on the fact that Klein beat Marshall on the road and Pearland barely got past Kempner at home. Marshall would crush Kempner just like Clements did. I know you probably can't give Clements more credit for that though;)

Looks good to me...B-Wood @ Pearland this week, so that should shed some light on #4-#5, S. Jesuit making some moves w/ some good wins...FB Marshall makes the 20...i knew they would... N.Shore locks up #2 only Katy can beat them imo.....

That team A beat team C who beat team B stuff is bogus. It's all about matchups... A triple option running attack that has rolled up yards on everyone could not compete with us. What makes you think one single back is gonna do anything against us? Did you see what we did to Mcguffie? Watch what we do to Yobes Walker this week... Klein vs. Pearland would be a mini version of Klein vs. Katy...

I wish I had gotten in on that pick'em contest...

He's got a good feeling about Cy Ridge. I haven't seen them but I can see why he likes them. I was like that with Cedar Hill last year. One week into the season I just knew they would dominate all year.

can you honestly say Pearlands O would put up more than 14 points on Klein??? Plus if anyone watched the Katy game it was a completely different Klein team. Changed our RB and Flanker and about 3 players on Defense / Special teams doesn't get all of those penaltys and errors they got against Katy

Having seen both Cy Falls and Pearland, I will say this... Pearland's "D" is better than Cy Falls "D". But Cy Falls "O" is better than Pearland's "O".

On a scale of 1-10:

Pearland
Offense = 6
Defense = 7

Cy Falls
Offense = 8
Defense = 6
-------------
Pearland = 13
Cy Falls = 14

Cy Falls is better than Pearland. But it would be a good game to see.

a 7 for Pearland's defense that is giving up 5 points per game?

Not exactly a bunch of tough tests for Pearland... Kempner, Houston Memorial, Clear Lake and.. (4A) La Marque - of whom P-land lost to. Then again, it's just my opinion. Plus, there is no defense (that I've seen) that would receive 10 pts, on a scale of 1-10. (Miami Northwestern would get a 9, due to their above average secondary.) I will say.. there is no Texas defense, that I've seen, that is better than Pearland. Katy is equal, defensively.

Still a 6 for the Cy Falls defense (of which there appears to be little) and a 7 for the Pearland defense (which is its mainstain) is a little skewed. Your reasoning for a 7 on Pearland is fine as long as the Cy Falls defense comes in at about a 4. I saw them in the 5A final last year and if thats the best they've got, then a 4 is generous.

I saw them in the championship game, last year.. and I saw them vs Westfield, this year. Perhaps grading on a scale of 1-10 is skewing things, but I will say, Pearland's defense is better than Cy Falls defense, while Falls' offense is better than Pearland's offense. JMO! Overall, including special teams.. I say Cy Falls is better than Pearland. However, I would definitely be the first person to arrive at the stadium, if the two teams met.

I think cy-falls is also too low. They have an outstanding offense . i have not seen much of the D. Pearland must improve after the break , we cannot keep giving up quarter consuming drives. If we fall behind this will be costly. Last year b-wood was good on D. It should be a good game hope we can get revenge.

one thing on pearlands d is that the last two weeks weve given up 8 minute drives but have stepped it up in the red zone to allow only field goals both times. The defensive unit needs to step up between the twenty's, we've only given up 3 td's all year but conceded 4 fg's.

The Falls/Ridge game is Saturday night, 6:00 at Pridgeon (located off of 1960 and Bobcat Ln - just past Jones Rd. - the poor man's Berry:)).

My opinion of this one is that it will be a whiplash game - heads going back and forth in the stands, track meets being run. Both offenses are so powerful right now...whichever one comes out with the better defense on the evening wins this one. I think Falls wns this one but it will be a close one.

It will be a close one, but, I must disagree. Ridge has the better defense right now. This is a scary game for me. Hope the kids are up for it! This year, the kids must go out each week working to gain the respect that so few in the state have been willing to give them. Each week, earn a little more.

I, too, am a little concerned about this one - the defense will have to do better than they did this week but I still think that was some cobwebs from the week off. There was a lot of stuff going around about how Cy Creek had nothing or very little which I disagreed with before the game. This offense is going to be much more potent though. I think the Falls defense will step up their game. What they lack in size, they more than make up in major heart...just need to complete the plays (which I saw a lack of on Friday). They need to take PMP to heart this Saturday night and help the offense out a bit!

I would never pick another team to beat the Eagles - just can't do it - so I think we take this one in a tight one. Bring the Nitro and Advil!!

Simple answer - no. There is no team I hate...those kids work too hard to hate them and why would hate even enter the equation...how can you hate someone you don't even know. There are very few people in this world that I have ever hated. Strongly disliked - yes. There are some here that I don't care for and they don't care for me so it all comes out in the wash. But, whatever someone says on here has nothing to do with the actual team. I admire any kid - football, band, drill team, etc - who takes time out of their lives to do something so productive and positive with their young lives. Maybe it's the drill teamer in me and I remember when there was no practice limit and we practiced 20 hrs a week - I know what you have to put into these activities. There is not a football player in this state that I dislike...no matter the team.

Now, wording it that way, yes I could see that:). Although I usually don't actively sit there and hope another team loses just because of their fans - we fans are just fans - we don't represent the team or the school in an official capacity so most of what we say probably should be taken with a grain of salt:D. I do root against any team that we are currently in battle with - this week, I am against Cy Ridge;). But if they were playing another team out of district, I would root for them...I'm weird I know.
