Offense has struggled. Who wins? Your reasons for picking them? Lufkin wins by shutting Longview down in Second half. special teams have been good to Lufkin past 2 games. Lufkin has better coaching than Longview. Think maybe a 24-21 game with Lufkin scoring late in game.

I think if Longview can finish their drives it's there for the taking. They IMO dominated the first half against Curtis but didn't finish their drives with points. The INT before half kept Curtis in the game which made the game a lot closer than what it should have been(Not taking anything away from Curtis). However, Longview displayed a bit of fight in the second half to come back and get the win. Longview gained a lot of confidence having to come back to win which makes them very dangerous. It truely seems a 50/50 matchup this time to me. If Lufkin's D can play up to par going to really hurt longviews O. But lufkins O is still struggleing and might cough up the ball a time or two. Longview has home field, but I would say lufkins coaches are better and there will be a ton of lufkin fans anyway. Both teams want the win badly and will play hard. I just can't say for certain, but I'm giving it to Lufkin partly because im from lufkin and I also really think that lufkins D can dominate the game if they come out to play. (now if only the O can perform to put some points up and they dont start coughing up the ball every other play)

longview certainly seems like the favorite to me in this one. Lufkin has conitnued to struggle with turnovers and that has kept some teams they should have killed in the game.....you cant do that against good teams and win. Longview on the other hand has improved each week and turnovers have not been a problem. Plus Longview has been opening it up some and we have the tools to be a dangerous passing team. I am certainly looking forward to the enormous crowd that will be on hand for this one. Get there very early or you will be sitting on the steep hill in the north endzone.

It's tough for me to ever pick against Lufkin, so let's just say I'm picking for Longview. They have some real nice momentum built up right now & the home field for this game. Some quote's in Outlaw's q & a thread lead you to believe the Pack is a bit banged up right now, too. It'll be a close one, for sure.

Ike had 1 defensive TD and 1 TD against our starting D. When it was 38-14 we pulled the starters. Now we did have a few starters in there, but it was mostly just 3 or 4. I know D Terry played the whole game, but Lufkin unloaded the bench on both sides. This game was never really close it was well in hand.

Longview will be tough, but I dont think there is anyway they will hang 35 on us. If Lufkin holds onto the ball this time it will be a long night for the Lobos I promise you. We will almost be at full strength, but I dont think Will C will play in this game and Josh Sanders our 4th WR is out for the season.

But I expect this to be very physical game. If Longview jumps out 13-0 this time then I think the Bos will have it. Longview is always one of the toughest placest to play. But Lufkin does have alot of firepower and if they put it together Lufkin will score ealry and often. LV's secondary might can hit but they are no were near as good as they have been in the past. But I will say this LV might have the fastest D in the state. Not nearly the biggest, but you wont find a defense that will play with more heart then the green machine.

Hmm, so with that statement it would be safe to say that if Longview wins next week it will be because Lufkin was down? I mean for the past 4 games most Lufkin fan's have said that this Lufkin team is not clicking on all cylinders and have played sloppy with many turnovers, penalties and injuries. You know as well as I do that this team is not your typical Lufkin team but even with all the problems we have managed to win.

I have said recently that if we don't get it together we could lose next week against Longview. I still believe that. What is sad is that you have already made a comment about Lufkin using the "injury" excuse if we lose. Kind of sad that you would accuse us of that when that is your forte. Either way I think it will still be a battle that could go either way.

I give Longview the edge when it comes to the players executing and playing mistake free football. I watched your game against JC and you looked much improved from the last time we played. You also have the home field advantage that will be a big help. I give Lufkin the edge when it comes to the coaches making adjustments and calling good plays. I don't see a blow out either way and it should be a good game.

If we win I know your fans will not be able to use the "HOME COOKING" excuse like I tend to see on Longview's message board when you play out of town. If we lose I know I won't use that excuse or any other one. Longview is a good team and they are always tough to beat. I look forward to watching this re-match.

No predictions, just observations:
1. Did we (LP) forget that we (LV) played Carter this week with our starters getting an opportunity to set out almost the entire second half (time off);
2. In reality, it was advantageous for us to have a weak Carter team this year, which gave us an opportunity (basically two-weeks) to as you say, dissect film on (LP)... The truth, who needs any additional time to dissect film when it's LV and LP (a mute point)...
3. I think you have a valid point; Outlaw is a better coach than King (no argument), which I believe to have been more of a confidence factor when we've played in the past... This time around, considering the last outing, I believe the confidence factor or lack there of, has been removed (castrated) - coaching staff and players... I believe that this time we will throw every thing at you, even the kitchen sink!!!!!

I ahve seen several Lufkin says they arent predicting anything about his game based on how Lufkin has been playing.

I come into this game with no worries at all about the Lobos. If we turn it over 3 or 4 times - we'll lose - plain and simple. If we take care of the ball, I like our chances.

My bigger concerns are an undefeated College Park team coming here one week later to start district. If we turn it over numerous times at Longview, and commit 6 or 8 bonehead penalties - that's when I get concerned because we've got district 7 days later against a quality opponent.

It is still over your head. I never said anything about the talent so I don't know why you even brought it up. I know we have talent. A bunch of it. My comment was in reference to execution so therefore my statement is true. Even in your your accusation of me making a false statement you actually agree that it is true when it comes to execution. The part about talent is void since I never mentioned the talent. Longview has had talent in the past too but just didn't always execute. If talent alone won state titles I would think that Lufkin and Longview would both have a few state titles in this decade. Too bad it does not work that way. There are a lot of teams around the state with talent but they don't always win. There is much more to the game of football than just having talent. My comment about this not being a typical Lufkin team had nothing to do with the talent we have. It had to to with execution. Where have you been? Were there many in here patting their back about the streak before the first game? I know you aren't accusing me of that but for the record, I never said anything about it. Maybe about 3 years ago but that was mostly in fun but I have not said anything about it this year or last year. I saw that we had talent before that game but we were not executing when we had a scrimmage. I have enough sense to know that Longview is ALWAYS going to be tough to beat and that streaks mean nothing when it comes to the game at hand. I am not worried about losing. A little concerned, maybe, but not worried. I have not made any predictions about this team or our team last year. In fact I just love watching the game and if my team wins then I am happy. If they lose it does not ruin my life in any way. I don't know why some fans think they are ENTITLED to a State Title by their team. God does not PROMISE us fans that we will see our team win a Title. I am just thankful that I have the opportunity and freedom to watch my team play as well as other teams in the state. That includes Longview. I always want to see the Lobos do good except when they play us.

The Lufkin D is better than anything you have seen since Week 0 and they have even gotten better. Yes, the Lufkin O has started slow but will be there next Friday night and we'll see if the LV defense can stand the test? No doubt that Longview has the talent to play with not only anyone in the state but anyone in the country. I have been saying for years that Longview would match up perfect with SLC.

But Lufkin has been inproving every week. Maybe not as much as we would like to see, but we did Just put 41 points on Ike with only 1 starting WR and the 3rd string RB. Lufkin has made tremendous strides the past 2 weeks. Nacogdoches has a very solid front 7 not to mention a LB James Ervin who will go Div 1A.

Lufkin will be at about 95% against Longview Will C and Sanders will be out, but that will not have any outcome of the game what so ever. So be careful what you wish for because Lufkin is pretty healthy and have had 2 weeks to watch film and study Longview.

This is a game of match ups and I think Lufkin matches up well against the Lobos now im not saying we are a lock to win, but I do feel like we are the favorites in this one, and you best believe Lufkin will be ready to play. Be sure to tell the RB´s to be ready because Big Jamarcus McFarland and company are coming. See ya in a week.

One of our key runningbacks, Will Christopherson will be out probably another two weeks with a broken collar bone. One of out starting OL guys is listed as questionable. However, no excuses here, we will play with whatever we have on the roster who is healthly.

This will be another close game and will be a good tune up for both teams to get ready for district play. The most important game for Lufkin is the following week against district foe College Park. So, while a LP victory would be nice, being ready to open district play against CP is more important at this point of the season.

If this game is anything like part 1 you've got to give LV a slight edge for playing at home; although LP will fill their side of the stands.

This is one of the games that should have been on national TV. I'd take it over a Fair - Falls TV game anytime.

Offense has struggled. Who wins? Your reasons for picking them? Lufkin wins by shutting Longview down in Second half. special teams have been good to Lufkin past 2 games. Lufkin has better coaching than Longview. Think maybe a 24-21 game with Lufkin scoring late in game.

While I think all agree JC was not a spectacular team by any stretch I assure you they would play most of the even the top teams in Texas close bc of their style. They are going to have 2 or 3 6-8 minutes drives and will win the time of possession easily. That is why the game was so close. Longivew played a very good game and won as a result.


And dont worry Longview is going to pass plenty. I am sure the play calling will be very similar to last year, against Lufkin we had around 30 pass attempts if i remeber correctly, but we have alot more weapons at WR and a QB with a better arm who is playing with confidence right now.

Nobody should be relating these to teams to other teams they've played, beaten, and given up points to this year. For crying out loud, we played each other just a few weeks ago, and know what the other team brings to the table talent wise, coaching wise, and fan wise. Whichever program wants it the most and makes the plays will win this game.

As fans, we are the ones who are truly blessed to get to see it played out in front of us. These two teams are very evenly matched, with a slight advantage going to the lobos for varsity experience and the home field. However, heart and focus will be the determining factor. I will be incredibly suprised and disappointed if this game is decided before the last 2-3 minutes.

He who executes wins. Regardless of the past games we've played this year, or the streak. Then, it's time to take care of business in district and a couple of playoff games so we can do it all over again:o

Anyone who keeps up with the national HS football scene knows that this was not the JC teams of old. They were good....but not in the same league with national type teams. But our defense did swarm the ball ALL day too. JC being VERY one deminsional (run) helped us ALOT.

Longview has improved the last couple of weeks more than any team Ive seen in a few years.

With 58 seniors this year, the Lobos should have the upper hand with a junior laden Panther team. Like, I have said from the beginning, these two games will only make both teams better prepared down the road when it really counts.

I really don't see how anyone could predict a blowout either way, especially a Lobo fan. According to what I hear (and thank God they are not like some fans), the players know that this game will be the toughest on the schedule and they are ready for it...they want a chance to beat Lufkin, not for the streak, but to genuinely see where they are...

This game comes down to TOs and LVs O vs the Lufkin D in the second half...John King knows he will not survive another, "no first downs in the second half," especially on homecoming night!

Those officials at the LP game were from Kilgore or something I forget and had absolutely nothing to do with Lufkin. Both teams had multiple opportunities to win that game regardless of the officials.

The penalty numbers may have been close, they just came suspiciously at inopportune times for Longview. Also, like I said, looking at film replays many times, I've still yet to see holding. Some of your fans have agreed there were some bull**** calls. That said, we should have put the game away sooner. And as to what clisle was saying, we've played much tougher competition than LP has; I think that's what he means. You get much better playing teams like John Curtis than you do when you play teams like Nac (isn't that the toughest team on LP's schedule to date other than Longview?)

I think that having a week off before the game will help LP a lot. Otherwise, I'd say Longview wins easily.

Yeah Lufkin almost doubled the Lobos total yardage in that game and LP turned the ball over twice deep in Lobo territory and had 4 fumbles lost! Not to mention Longview had 9 total yards and no 1st downs in the 2nd half. :eek:

Yeah it definitely had to be the refs and the homecooking as to why LP won that game. :rolleyes: Not to mention were talking a holding call that is always a judgment call and can be called on almost any play. I am sure the Kilgore officials perfectly timed those few calls to help LP out. Yeah right?

You're welcome. Those are the only 2 stadiums available to LISD, Judson and Lobo. All of the Junior Highs have their "home" games at Judson.

Hey why on earth would Longview put an LP team that has beaten them 11 times in a row and a team that was the last to beat them on their home field almost 4 years ago as their homecoming game? :eek: Just think that is a little odd? Homecoming games are usually against weak teams you know you will beat. Maybe King did it on purpose as motivation I am not sure?

i already answered this once. King doesnt care aout this game as much as you might think. HE knows the distractions that come along with homecoming and would rather have this game outside of district as to not risk the players distracted when the games really matter. It was either this game or a nationally televised game, which complicate homecoming even more. Understand now?

Ok, I have stayed off this thread all week because it is all back and forth between these two teams. It’s like playing your cousin……there isn’t much you don’t know about them. Sure, the Lobos have improved their offense but so has LP. In the last meeting LP held the Lobos in the second half, who is to say that LP can’t do it again? The LP offense has had the T.O. bug and who is to say that it isn't “cured.” They have had two weeks to prepare and work on that. I respect the lobos as well,know you guys have a quality team and a real hunger to stop this streak.I played for the Pack many years ago when this was actually a rivalry(streak) and remember quite well the importance of this game and I know all that are involved feel the pressure.
