It should be against the law to dominate a team like that!! I've never played on a HORRID team....I wonder what they're feeling?!
Probably saying.."Coach, do we have to play again?....darn-it!!"

Each and every week I often wonder what can the opposing coach possible be saying to his team at half time when they are down down by let's say 42 points. How do you motivate your team to go back out there knowign thing smost likely will only get worse. Honestly I think even if you took the best players off the others teams in the district and played them against North Shore the result would still be the same. There is no one in that district that can match North Shore's athletic ability.

I agree! I remember being up 42-0 over a team when I was in college...coach told us if we hit 60 to just run out of bounce or get tackled easier. Well we added 35 more points to the score. :D
On the flight home our QB told our coach, "Sorry Coach.....didn't get the memo!!"
It was wrong, but we laughed like crazy!!
The way I see it....if you want to stop getting beat 42-0 at half time, do what must me done to avoid it. Win!!! Build a program that does nothing but WIN!! That way you never face that situation!!

I like what i saw in JR QB Vance Fizer.. the kid is 6"1" , has great speed, likes to run, and also throws very well... he would be starting for plenty of other schools if he wasnt at North Shore behind Cain....could he be the second coming of Cedric Cormier? and Landry impressed me today running the ball.... future still looks to be good..

As good as Fizer is Sho there will neve ever be another Cedric Cormier. Cedric possed things that no coach can teach a kid. He just had natural instincts to make something happen every time he touched the ball. Players like him or Bobby only come along once in a life time. And to try and make anyone live up to their level of play is just unfair.

i dont agree with the once in a lifetime.. because.. the next bobby reid and cormier will come again sooner or later... there will always be players that take the torch.. and yes.. ced was a very good player... ppl said.. wow!.. thats a once in a lifetime player for NS.. he was that unbelievable.. then.. came bobby... and ppl say.. wow! there wont be another bobby... someone else will come around... just dont know when.... if it ended with once in a lifetimes... then football would be on a decline.. talent level wise.. because there will always be somone to come along and raise the bar higher ... ced raised it.. and bobby took it to another level... whos next? and this is anywhere.. at any school.
only way i agree with those statements.. are the fact that.. there is only one cedric..and will only be one cedric.. as for bobby.. wont be another bobby. thats for sure... but there will be someone with a new name.. and more talent.. to raise the bar higher....because at each level..we can say. wow, we wont see someone like that again... then.. comes bobby to play very well and win a championship... .. whos next?

"those on the vince young level" or "those on the level of roger clemens" etc etc.. sorry just had to vent that peeve...
blah.. north shore was a blowout.. and the board is slow tonight..

That is what I was getting at Sho. I know there will be someone come along that is better than Cedric or Bobby. I mean for years after Cedric left we wondered what was next. Who would come along and fill the void and that's when Bobby came along. Bobby had Ced's running prowness, but he had also had an arm. Same goes for nearly every position on the team. I guess for us Mustang fans we have just be spoiled by all of the talent we have produced in the past 12 years.

First of all, congratulations to the Mustangs on another impressive win.
But the real question is not what does a coach say when you are down 42-0, it's what does the coach do or say when you are up 42-0 almost every week?
That was always the big problem with Ike in the old days and North Shore has been bitten by the lazy bug themselves over the years.
It is really tough to get playoff sharp in these situations.

Didn't they have, like, half the starters back from last years squad?? I don't remember!!

I'm sure North Shore's returning players learned a lot from last year, and can relay the message to the new guys on varsity.
They cruised through the regular season last year, and were probably thinking that title defense aint that bad until the playoffs started.
In my opinion, there shouldn't be many hungrier teams in the state than North Shore this year...especially with Westfield out there doing as good as they are.
Between North Shore and Westfield this year, I can't help but feel like I'm watching two heavyweight fighters just passing the time with warm up bouts before the real prize fight.

You definately hit the nail on the head with that statement Kt2000. North Shore and Westfield are cruising through their districts.
Pearland will challenge NS in the first round but unless they can start throwing then its just going to be a warm up game for Shore. Even when Pearland had more fire power last year they still pulled it out.

Don't forget Willie Gaston. No, he was not CC or BR but he was a team leader and a great qb. Reid himself said he was in awe of WG's leadership on the field.
Shore is beating teams they should be by the margins they should be. I'm still hesitant to say anything great about them since the Woods game. I felt if they were that good they would have hammered TWHS. They easily could have lost. Playoffs will reveal the true team. I just hope that after last year's
showing in the playoffs Aymond will have them mentally prepared. It does look like two prize fighters prepping for the match. The D is what looks good. They have not allowed more than one TD in any game.

Hang in there Dobie08. As they say, every dog has its day. I can well remember when Shore was the whipping boy of the district and the best they could do was tie 3 ways for the district crown and lose the coin toss for the playoffs.

Yeah Mustang but that was before we moved into the Pasadena district. Since we have been in this district Dobie is the only team to have beaten us and that was when the team was kind of down. I mean we had Eric Crutchfield as our quarterback and we all know how good he was.

Yeah, i can admit we aren't as good as we were last year because of losing alot of Varsity players, but.. We still have alot of games left..like Pasadena Memorial whos undefeated..and some others...Atleast we scored against one of the best teams in Texas..IM me on AIM @ MrHanky3589 sometime, we'll talk about Texas football.

Big Daddy, if you are really wondering what a coach says at that point. Go ask Aymond. I believe he was doing that last year when Westfield was walking all over the Sho. If i remember correctly, the score was Westfield 42, NS 7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter. And you were right. it only got worse for the mustangs. the final was 56 - 14.

BDC, don't forget Shore has moved in and out that Pasadena district. They were in the Pasadena district and moved to the Baytown districts and moved back again. It was in 2001 when they played the final district game at Dement against Baytown Lee-77 to 35. The Humble schools were in a different district and it was like they swapped. The following year NS moved back to the Pasadena district.

I'm still amazed at that game. Westfield came out to play and NS looked like they gave up at the half. The bonehead mistakes of NS and the sheer luck WF had at times could only mean one outcome. There is a lot of ill feelings between both schools. You can go back to the '03 scrimmage when WF was doing everything they could to take Reid out of the season in that scrimmage. I would like nothing better than for NS to take out WF this year. That was the year WF had the rb Patrick and beat Judson. Patrick had a good scimmage against Shore's defense and you know how good they were......

Hey i dont understand your argument. Where you even at that game? Plus it was 42-7 at half against dobie. Not like NS v. West. where it was the the 4th quarter. NS and Westfield where close at the half. And to be honest with you the score was high but thats because NS gave up they had a lot of youth and unexperienced guys. This year they are seniors dont look for them to give up this year. Plus we played them on their home turf which is the hardest thing to do. Anyways they will have to play us at gpisd stadium this year. Cant wait. And if your gonna try to bash one of the greatest teams in the state then stay off our threads.

03,
i am not trying to bash the sho. I respect them and think they have a great program. Big daddy was getting a little cocky about what they did to dobie, and what the dobie coach was saying to his team at halftime. i jsut want to remind him about what westfield did to them and aymond was having to say the same thing during the 4th quarter.
i don;t no what world you live in but 21 - 7 at half is not close.
that being said, i think the sho will play with wf and has a good chance of winning.

I don't think BDC was being cocky about the win. I think he was just making a statement about that type of situation in any sporting event. Think about it. How do you motivate your guys? There have been comebacks. 2 years ago in the playoffs, Aldine had a Beaumont school down 35-0 at the half and lost the game. It was unbelievable. What did the Buffalo Bills coach say to them when the Oilers had them down at the half. Same way with the Red Sox and Yankees last year. Wideout is right. At the half against WF last year NS was down 14-0 (I think thats the score). Anyway it was not a great lead by WF. Shore was in the game but gave it up for some reason and it looked like they quit. There is no one I know in NS that will deny it when Shore gets a butt whippin'. If it's deserved, then kudos to whoever does it. It happens.

Believe me that rainy day at George all of us Shore fans had to set through the kind of misery we have dealt out to so many other. Was it easy to set there and take hell no it wasn't, but it is something every team has to expericene one time or another. The difference is when it happen to you do you totlaly fall apart or do you keeo fighting. Idon't really think Shoire gave up in that game at least not the entire team. I think that day was just Westfields day to shine.

Yes Dobie has soom good players on their squad. But they were just completely outmanned the other night. NS and WF are loaded from top to bottom with top notched athletes. Like BDC said, it was very humbling to sit thru that whipping they put on us last year. It's goona be a good one for the ages come the 2nd round.

I just happen to be driving buy George Stadium yesterday - and memories of that miserable rainy saturday afternoon last year came to mind. I came to the conclusion - "I just hate that stadium"
Everything went wrong that day. Farr droped a pass up the middle. Gillium kept slipping and sliding. Cain couldn't get it going. Rutland couldn't make the toss on the option. Everytime the def. got close to Beasley or about to sack him - he threw the ball to the opposite side of the field to a wide open receiver. Their backs had no problem with the wet truf. Ours did. IT WAS JUST A BAD DAY!!!!!!!!
But hey - I give kudos to Westfield - they were playing in the same conditions.
I went to their subsequent playoff games against Judson and all the way to S.A. to the Championship Game to root for them. Too bad they lost.
