I'm glad Hoover, AL got beat - their coach was a blow-hard. After they beat Lakeland, FL in Week 0 he said "If we can run the table, we should finish No. 1 in the nation". LOL - kinda got ahead of himself didn't he.

Considering they have one common opponent...REL
Colerain beat REL fairly decisively.
Trinity thoroughly Dismantled REL.
There are several other TX schools that could hand it to REL just as bad if not worse than Colerain did.

He's as arrogant at is gets.. One of my best friends is an OC at an Alabama High school. He tells me that Coach Propst (Hoover) is very cocky and arrogant and pretty much talks down to everyone.
Last year during the Alabama State title game. He didnt like a call against he's team. The fans for Daphne started booing him. He started yelling nice "F" bombs at them that was caught on the large screen replay during the game.
He's pretty much classless ( for a guy that suppose to be a High school football coach). Heck, I'll put West Monroe's Coach Shows ahead of him in the class area and trust me that's hard for me to do.

O, wow. I'm sure my little Ohio friend (Concha) is proclaiming all over the world how superior Ohio football is because Colerain beat Tyler Lee (in Ohio) by 15 pts.
I'm laughing how I'm watching Colerain totally dominate everyone they play in Ohio after that game. Heck, the two toughest games they've had so far or St. Xavier and Tyler Lee.
Proves there is a major difference in the level of High school football overall in Ohio compared to Texas. Of coarse.. everyone that follows it can clearly see that Texas is the best.

I wish Concha wasn't banned so I could hear his pathetic excuses.
I am more convinced that the Colerain of Last year would have been just a top 10 Texas team seeing how weak their competition is.
It is hard for me to believe that 2-3 (soon to be 2-4) REL was Colerain's 2nd toughest opponent to date.
Euless Trinity had a tougher time with Irving Nimitz.

Ya.. I've been looking at Colerain competition. It's totally obvious they're playing against alot of weak teams. I'm sure they may met a couple of teams in the playoffs that give them something that looks like a game. But, throughout the regular season only two teams have played with them.
(St. Xavier & Tyler Lee).
It doesnt show alot for the other 98% of the teams in Ohio and their caliber of play.
Just like I stated way before the Colerain vs Tyler Lee game and I believe it even more now.
Texas has about 15 elite teams.. Ohio has about 5 "maybe".
But the 2nd and 3rd level of Texas High school teams is a Hell of alot better then the 2nd and 3rd level of teams in Ohio.
If Tyler Lee was in Ohio they would probably be about the 5th or 6th best team in the State. 100% no doubt about it.

If I remember right from what I read in other posts about Colerain, they can't play outside of the bordering states of Ohio.....so they can't come to Texas for the rematch. That is a shame. I would love for them to see how we do the games down here, in person.

steve, cool the jets. It's a rule put in place by their UIL (or whatever they call it up there). I think this was a one-time thing, so Lee probably won't go back up there. Another team might, who knows. I would love to see Longview do it, but I doubt they would go for it. I personally don't see a reason for them to do it. IF we wanted to play some other out-of-state teams, I'd say pick Springdale, Jenks, or Tulsa Union. I would like to see the Longview/West Monroe series continue for many years to come.

Our team probably not going back up there again just for nothing and if we lose again than its like nothing so we don't care about Ohio Colerain now and why us? there is like 20 other elite teams in Texas could beat Colerain and I am sure there afraid Texas.

I dont think REL or any Texas team should travel to Ohio. I think next season an Ohio team should travel to Texas on the Texas/Ohio weekend.
They (Ohio) can make an exemption for one of their teams to travel to Texas for a weekend. I would like to see one of the GCL schools ( St. X, Elder, Moeller, LaSalle) come to Texas that weekend and maybe play Austin Westlake. This Westlake team looks like they have alot of underclass kids on the Varsity team. Lets get a St. Xavier vs Austin Westlake game on line for next season at Memorial Stadium on Friday Night.
Lets get the contract out and going now. :D

The Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) rule is this: You can travel to a non-contiguous state (contiguous states are Pennsylvania, Michigana, Indiana, Kentucky, West Virginia) only once per season, but you may not miss any school to do so.
So an Ohio team could travel to Texas to play a game, but it would have to be on a Saturday evening. They wouldn't be able to fly in Thursday for a Friday game like REL did.
They put this rule in following Lebron James' senior season, in which his team (Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary) jetted all over the US every weekend playing in high profile tournaments.
If an Ohio team were to travel to Texas to play a game, it would likely be one of the Catholic schools. Teams like Colerain that belong to large leagues have no problems filling their schedule. Teams like St. Ignatius and St. Edward regularly take on interstate powers (Bethlahem Catholic, St. Joe's Prep, Muskegon Mich, Erie Prep, Pittsburgh Central Catholic, Penn IN, etc)
However, I don't see this happening anytime soon. The Herbstreit challenge, as well as a festival style event taking place in Kent, Ohio, already have a slate of National powers set to come to Ohio. I believe St. Edward High School will play Mission Viejo as one of the Herstreit matchups next year. Valdosta, GA, and Concorde De La Salle are other names I've heard.

Tyler Lee's ranking in Ohio would depend largely on their schedule. If they played the schedule of Ohio's top teams, they would be a .500 team and unranked. If they had a weak schedule and a perfect record, they could possibly crack the top 10.
Did I read that REL lost their QB? Wasn't he their best player?

Ranking Schedules among different states is absurd.
You can rank Ohio's toughest schedule or Texas toughest schedule but you can not intermix states.
Your #10 ranked team may be equivalent to TX #20.
If Elder played that Ohio #10 and a TX team played TX#20, Elder's schedule would be percieved as tougher.

REL lost their QB- Preston Hill in the Rockwall game. He's not their best player. There is aobut 4 to 5 other kids on the team that are considered higher caliber blue-chips. Plus, their backup QB-Marcus Jackson isnt that bad. He just needs some game time experience.
About the caliber of teams. Without a doubt.. Tyler Lee would easily be a Top #10 team in Ohio. Colerain is a legit top #3 in Ohio and Tyler Lee played a very respectful game against them. Remember that REL traveled to Ohio and played Colerain in their backyard...that by itself is worth about 7 pts for Colerain.
Colerain isnt "that much" better then Tyler Lee. Their better.. not my much.
IF you brought Colerain to Tyler.. it would be pretty much a "toss up" game.
Like I said long before the Colerain vs REL game. Texas has about 15 legit national level teams... Ohio has about 5 to maybe 6.
Look at the Colerain games against other Ohio teams..... Its a freaking joke.
Dont give me that weak conference stuff !!! Its weak I'll give you that. Zero .. I mean "zero" competition.
I know St. Xavier is pretty good. I know that there is about 4 other teams across Ohio that can give Colerain something that looks like a football game.
But, dont try to tell me that there is about 15 teams in Ohio that give give Colerain a "down to down" game. I'm not buying that for one bit.
In Ohio there is about 4 other teams that can give Colerain a game.. In Texas there is about 15 Texas teams that can give Colerain "EVERYTHING" and I mean "EVERYTHING" they want and more.

Steeler Dog.. see that Booker T. Washington (Miami, Fla) team that's ranked #15th in the nation.. they beat the Hollywood Chaminade team by 15 pts ( I think).
Tyler Lee beat Hollywood Chaminade and they're not even the 15th rank team in Texas..
Heck, Tyler Lee is probably about #25 in Texas if not slighly worse.
National Polls are a JOKE.. and Texas has the best quality High school football in the nation.

ohio teams that can beat colerain.moeller,masillon,st.iggy,st.x,glenville,s t.edwards,mckinley.that's 7 right their.also you fail to mention that the teams that colerain has beaten in ohio have a combined record of 7-11.that's like rel playing el paso teams and being 5-0.

Who cares where you are from...your perspective on Texas HS football is skewed....my original comment stands...the top 10 of Ohio might be mixed in with the top 30 of Texas teams..maybe...probably not...

I love it.. You 100% certain that those other Ohio teams can beat Colerain...??? Hmmmmm.. That Canton Mckinley team better be a Hell of alot better then they were last year amigo. Last year they were down right horrible. They wouldnt of been even a (5-5) Texas 4A team much less a high caliber Texas 5A.
You know there Steeler.. What you say or I say doesnt really matter much. We'll see how the next 2 months of HS football plays out. Something tells me that Colerain is going to make a pretty deep run into the Ohio playoffs and not be challenged by anyone in the regular season except (St.Xavier and Tyler Lee.) What's that say when a Texas team that is probably about #30th in Texas "comes to Ohio" and plays a top #5 Ohio team and gives them probably the 2nd best game of the regular season. Tyler Lee aint a Texas power this year amigo.
Second... I would put some El Paso teams ahead of some of those weak teams Colerain playing against. In fact I can promise you there is about 3 to 4 El Paso teams that could give Colerain alot better game then whats in Colerain conference.
Again... Mckinley.. " I DONT THINK SO." But, you can name about 5 or so teams that can play with Colerain.. There is about 15 Texas teams that can give Colerain 'EVERYTHING'.. When I say everything.. I mean "BEAT THEM."
Third.... once you get past those 5 or 6 solid Ohio teams.. The drop off is huge in Ohio on the overall caliber of High school football.
In Texas there is 15 solid teams. 15 more very good teams.. and 15 other good teams. The dropoff is no where near in Texas what it is in Ohio.
Plain and simple.

Thanks Texasfrog... You have very good points to it and I can imagine 15 other Texas can kill Colerain here in Texas and maybe 13 could beat Colerain up in Ohio. I think its so funny that Ohio people think theres so good in Football for HS and College but look at Texas and OU, almost all of them coming from Texas. Man its too funny that they thought Tyler Lee is like Top 5 Best Team in Texas but then I proved it to them ahead of us in the schedule like Longview and Euless Trinity. Wow omg Longview and Euless Trinity would have killed Colerain maybe 20 to 30 points.

Thanks.. the whole point is I've seen a few people trying to compare Stats from one state to another as far as "Teams." I've always stated that you cant do that because some States have alot higher quality competition from week to week.
Colerain is going to run up alot of impressive stats from week to week because for 95% of their schedule they're playing weak teams. The scores are like 35-7 at halftime..
I'm sure St. Xavier is a pretty solid team. They beat Colerain (7-0) in week one when Colerain was still working out their offense.
I'm sure Tyler Lee could give St. Xavier an extremely strong game that would be very close. I'm 100% sure that Tyler Lee could give anyone in Ohio a strong game. Losing to Colerain by 15pts (IN OHIO) not that bad.
If you brought that Colerain (to TEXAS) I could match them up with about 10 Texas teams right now that I'm pretty certain would beat them by over 17pts on an average Friday night.
Heck.. if you brought Colerain (to TEXAS). I think Tyler Lee would give them pretty much a toss up game.

Hey RedRaider.. I saw the Longview game on tv tonight. I'm going to tell you right now. REL is a blink from clicking. IF they dont slip up and can scrap out that 3rd place spot into the playoffs.
They have a good chance of making a 2 or even 3 week playoff run. I really feel that. Their really close to clicking.
I know some people may laugh at that. I'm not saying that REL is going to the State Title game. But, they could easily make a 3 week playoff run or maybe even slightly better.

Colerain basically shut down their offense in the 2nd half b/c their QB is a turnover waiting to happen. When they were running the triple option, they scored at will. I think the problem was that Colerain gave REL too much respect. If this game is played in week 6 or 7 and REL is without their QB, Colerain wins by 30+.
Home field advantage worth 7 points? That's pretty generous, most oddsmakers give 3pts. Then consider that Colerain had never set foot on that field until game time. REL had a walk through the day before. REL had a 2 1/2 hour flight the day before. Colerain had a 2 hour bus ride immediately following school. Colerain is also a team that NEVER travels outside Cincinnati for regular season game.
Like I said long before the Colerain vs REL game. Texas has about 15 legit national level teams... Ohio has about 5 to maybe 6.

Southlake Carroll's results this year:
#452 Heritage (Colleyville, TX) (59-28), #2184 Lee (Midland, TX) (48-25), #2631 Plano East (Plano, TX) (31-0), #2741 Coppell (TX) (56-24), #2920 Fossil Ridge (Keller, TX) (55-24).
Hmmm... Texas football really blows... Look at how SLC blows everyone away. Zero, I mean ZERO competition.
You are right that Texas has more elite teams than Ohio... I would hope so... The state is more than twice as large. But there are at least 7 teams right now as good or better than Colerain. REL would NOT be a top 10 team in Ohio, especially without their QB. If they played the schedule of most of the top teams, they would be lucky to have a winning record.
All we used to hear on these forums is how "most any decent 3A team" would kill our state champs. Now it's "our top 15 teams" are better. I guess that's some progress. You didn't invent football guys and there is nothing in the water that breeds genetic super humans in Texas. Cleveland Glenville has over 2/3 of their staring lineup with DI college offers.... Maybe in Texas there are teams with entire lineups of DI players??? Coaching? Heck, over 12% of NCAA DI-A head coaches are Ohio born. Bob Stoops, Urban Meyer, Mike Stoops, Jim Tressell, Ron Zook, Frank Solich, Randy Walker, and many more.
