He's traveling with the team and will be a game time decision. I do not expect him to play and I think the plan has been in place for a while. You hate to say you don't need a player like Newman but the Chicago passing game is anemic. If he can rest another week it will only help the injury.

They gotta get him well for later. These early games, while troubling on defense, will only build depth when guys like Newman and even Tank Johnson are ready to play.

if the pokes were 0-2 I might feel differently. i say to err on the side of caution for now.

Completely agree. We definitely shouldn't push Newman too early in order to stop a non-division team with one of the worst quarterbacks in the league.

I like the idea of the defense getting better as the year goes on. I think it will be huge that this defense could be adding a Newman, Ellis & Johnson for the second half. If we can improve and continue to secure victories, I say let the guys gets healthy.

Why would we bring him back against a team we probably won't need him against? He'll just get re-injured and we'll have another Terry Glenn fiasco.

I agree with letting him heal up completely before putting him out there to play on an injured foot. Although, something tells me that WR Benard Barrian for the Bears might just go deep a few times in this game. It is no secret that the Cowboys secondary gets beat deep, and without Newman, we don't have the speed at CB to keep up with Barrian. That is the only thing that worries me...then again, Newman being only at 70% or so wouldn't let him use all of his speed anyways. So either way we need to find a way to keep Barrian and Hester from beating us deep.

Gahh I have two exams on Monday in a span of 2 hours. I don't know how much football I'll be watching this weekend.

I agree, I would rather that than like last year when they started off strong and ended up playing horribly

At the half way point most teams are really feeling their injuries. The Boys would potentially be adding front line starters to the line, the lb's & the db's. That's a shot in the arm you don't often get. If we can stay healthy and keep winning games, the smart money is on these guys healing completely. Maybe no December meltdown this year.

I agree with everybody when I say, sit Newman for as long as possible. I don't want him injuring himself to the point that his career maybe over if it happens. This is kinda the same thing with the Colts last year. Defense couldn't stop the run for squat and after awhile, they got Bob Sanders back from injury and BAM!, their defense got that much better. The Boys will be fine!
