It depends on if Roosevelt has their starters back. If they do not, I don't see how they could beat Judson. But if they are back, I think it will be one heck of a ball game. History shows that this Roosevelt usually plays Judson a pretty good game! Just look at 95', Judson was Div1 state champ and they weren't even the best team in 26-5a.
I am real interested to see how this Judson team responds to the loss from SV this week. In years past all a loss like that would do is piss them off and crush their next opponent. We'll see if they still have that same fire this week.

RRDrummer, what's the scoop on the Rider 6? Are they suspended indefinitely? Is it a hush hush thing or what?
Gotta go with Judson in this game.

In your last two district games you have faced O's that were more impaired than Judson's. Churchill's injury last week was unfortunate and they did a fair lob (and you guys put the points up when you had to). Madison's O comes to play a half a game of ball. That's it. Judson rises after a regular season defeat. As bad as a lot here say their O is, they will get better ever week and when those kids make it click, it will work. Your D has got to be ready to play a full game of hard nosed ball and hope this aint the week it clicks with the Judson O guys.

Yea, i didn't mean by losing their star WR they were doomed. But with the loss of him against SV they didn't not throw the ball which can make a difference. Our boys will deffinently have to come and play 4 full quarters of ball either way. Judson may not be as strong as they usually are but they can still play ball. Im just hoping for an upset :D

I agree it CAN. Dont have stats in front of me so I cant tell you about Roosevelt game, but last week Madison was 2-9-1 passing. That's 2 completed passes. And a victory to go with them. Sometimes they just run you over. :D

Curse of the Spurs is alive and kicking, Judson will have its hands full again, and will lose if they do not have #1 back for this game. I think that Judsons defense will at least keep them in the game but will be exhausted form Judson offense not moveing the ball.

In 1995 Judson's only loss came to Roosevelt. Judson won Division I State Champs and Roosevelt won Division II State Champs.
RoughRiderDrummer, I know you want to know if Derrick Williams (1) will be playing on saturday, but I am not going to tell you. You will just have to wait until then to find out, sorry man.
I think Judson will come into this game knowing that we pretty much have to win the rest of our games to make the playoffs, and it is going to be a fight.
Judson wins this one, but I am not going to put a score because I am always horribly wrong. (Remember Cowboys vs Redskins I said Cowboys by 21, and they lost by 1 so....) Alfred McDaniels will have a HUGE night behind our O-Line that is finally getting the hang of our new offense. Jose Mendoza is a good short yardage back that can break a couple for 10 yards or more. Look for our goal line and short yardage play to be much improved, but I am not going to state the reasons why, once again, its a surprise. I think our defense is going to once again hold(I think SV only had 170 yards offense).
We have a lot of surprises for Teddy this week, but I am not going to talk about any of them right now.

Just FYI I saw Williams back in JR-SV game after he was hurt.He had some kind of wrap on his knee area. So,unless he reinjured that leg in the game ,I would imagine he`ll play at Roosevelt.

It's real easy to see Judson will win.
Roosevelt does not have the any speed that I'm aware of that will give Judson fits. I can't see where they have more talent and they're not known for getting better as the season progresses. Judson comes back hard the game after losses. They're just better. Roosevelt has looked inconsistent and Judson wants to not play around with their playoff chances.

Every once in a while a group of kids think they will win because the teams before them won. I think that this Judson group is struggling with that right now. Sometimes..even when a group has the talent to win they dont..because the dont deseve to....meaning they are relying on the past to win for them. I think that the players at Judson expect everyone they play to be intimidated and not play hard. They need to understand that everyone they play wants to beat them and will play their best against them. This team should be ok. I hope that the loss to SV will be a wakeup call and they will get it together. They are struggling with the new offense and its like the TAKS test...its not gonna go away!! Hopefully they will buy into it and make it work. I was looking down the bench the other night and realized that they are not very deep at any position. They have a lot of kids on the sideline but not many players. When I was at Judson we had players on the field and some good ones backing up..not at all positions but it looked like they are one guy deep and not much in the bank. It will be interesting to see how they respond this week. Im sure Rackley has picked up the pace this week and will have them ready!! I see Judson winning by 14 this week...I think there will be a sense of urgency this week and that has been missing!!

The key for the Judson staff is to get the kids to buy into what they are selling. If they cannot get the older kids to do that, I see an early exit for the Rockets. You have to make them believe, before they will sell out.

I know that Judson is trying to grasp a new system, but from what I saw last Friday night no playbook will help. The O-line was terrible at blocking and those plays have been around for years. I just don't get it, the O-line has some big kids and yet they are being pushed around like rag dolls. I just don't see a big enough improvement by years end to get them in the playoffs. THey need to start to use that Porter kid at runningback, hell he couldn't do any worse then what they have.

You crack me up. You must have computers in your homeroom to have time to post so often. I do not take back what I said about it being the new offense, I do not recall saying it was the new O line coaches fault, but if I did, I was correct in the statement. For the kids to buy into something, they must be convinced that it is the best offense for them to run. Who's job is it to sell that to them. The coaching staff. Now within a coaching staff you have a Head coach who makes all the final decisions. You have two coordinators, an offfensive coordinator and a defensive coordinator, who make decisions about their respective sides. Then you assistant coaches that coach positions. Now the head coach is the guy who pushes the overall philosophy of the program to the other coaches and sells it to them. It is imperative that the coordinators and assistant coaches buy into this or move on, because if you do not believe in what you are teaching then it is hard to be a convincing salesman. The offensive and defensive coordinator must fit their systems into the philosophies of the Head Coach. If they cannot do this then they either need to adapt and move on. I believe the offensive coordinator has fit his system into the philosophies of the head coach. Then he must sell his system to assistant coaches, which often takes time. If he cannot sell his system to his assistant coaches, then the assistant coaches will not sell them in a optomistic fashion to the players. Once again if the assistant coaches do not believe in the philosophy of the program or the system in which they are trying to teach then they need to move on. The players who are being taught have been in a system since they were in 7th grade that had won 6 state championships in nine appearances in the last 25 years. Which was smash mouth, run it down you throat, two tight, no frills, just results type of offense. And they believed in it. And the ones who did not stopped playing football or moved to anther school to play football. The problem is not the system, the system can be effective. Look at the success Madison has had with it. The problem is with the selling of the system. Any system can be effective if the kids believe in what they are doing and give you everything they have doing it. But, until the kids truly buy into the system, then the offense will struggle. Yes, it will have good success against lesser teams, but it will not truly take off and be a good offense until the coaches do a better job selling it to the players. And as I stated before, it is ultimately the offensive coordinators job to sell his system to the players and coaches. I think the O line coach has great potential, but this is a new gig to him (being OC at The power that is JUDSON) and he needs to figure out how to sell his goods. I think it will come as the younger guys grow up through this new system. And why are you so bitter that I cut you from the tee ball team. You kept striking out.Now you gotta LOVE that color.

I’m happy I can give you a laugh, sometimes you don’t sound like you’re enjoying yourself here. The homeroom thing cracks me up because you are very close. I actually have computers in every room in my home. :p
Thanks for the clarification on the Judson O coaching situation. I suppose the posts I referred to could have been in jest or lacked the detailed explanation you provided here. You see, I have a great deal of respect for the programs at both schools (Judson and Madison) and I believe the system can work for Judson. If members of Madison’s coaching staff need to move on, I’m happy to see them go to Judson.
I’m not bitter about being cut from tee ball. In fact I owe you a debt of gratitude. That started me on my independent streak. I’ve been working for myself a long time and have nowhere I have to be unless I schedule something. That frees me up to post here. If you had known it would turn out like this, you might not have cut me. :p
PS I do love the color, just not on Burnt Orange day. There are very few days (only once a year now that we have DI and DII) that I have to choose between Madison and Judson. On those days it’s Burnt Orange all the way.

Judson has always had good OLine coaches..I think Coach Webb is as good as it gets. Here is what I think is the problem..First..they havent bought into the system..which is hard to do when the old system was SO effective..
Second..I dont think Mangold is comfortable calling plays..I see Coach Rackley always standing right by him as he calls his plays. I think Mangold is probably calling what he thinks Rackley wants him to call and not getting fully into the game and calling what he thinks is right. Third..When Jeter and Gibbons left Judson...as well as all the other coaches..Judson changed...Rackley is not Judson in and of himself..Jeter and Gibbons were Judson!! I think they can be good again but they will be different..They certainly dont have the same attitude or style of play that has made them so good in the past!!!! Just my 2 cents

I was just adding to the already longest post in the history of the world. You must be one of thoes guys that talks too much!!!

Burnt Orange only looks good on a Longhorn!! Did you understand what I was saying in that last post? It is not completely on him. It is a matter of time and what sales pitch you use.
Well, I did thank you for the clarification. Selling the system will be part of it. I have friends who sell cars. Some of them could sell glasses to a blind man. There biggest problem is usually selling themselves to people who go through a lot of car salesmen. On top of selling a system, the O-Coordinator has to sell himself to the kids, the head coach, other coaching staff, the administration, parents and everybody else who expects him to deliver. Not an easy task.

Webb IS a very good O-Line coach. If you notice about the 2 games we lost (Cove, SV) we got beat in the second half, not the first.
I think this is the problem:
Our scout team runs the scout defense the same way the opposing team runs defense, so our O-Line learns how to block for that D. But after the half, when the opposing D has adjusted to our blocking, our O line doesn't know what to do. I think we were out-coached in both of those games. About Mangold being afraid to call the plays, Rackley IS the boss, and what he says goes. If he wants us to give the other team the ball and let them walk into the endzone, thats what is going to happen. All of the new coaches are great coaches, but boy I sure do miss Gibbens and Jeter. Gibbens had a whistle that would pump you up even if you hadn't slept for 2 days.

I never used the word afraid. i said uncomfortable. There is a big difference. If you are afraid you shouldnt be a coach. What I meant is that if he is calling plays predicated on what he thinks Rackley wants then he needs to go back to Madison. As far as Rackley being the boss..you are right and if he wont let Mangold call the plays he wants then he needs to call the game himself. You hire coaches to do a job and then you let them do that. You will never be successfull calling plays and looking out of the corner of your eye to see the head coaches reaction. Watch the game and see if it works and go from there. Jeter never once looked at Rackley for his approval. Im sure he called some plays that Rackley didnt like but thats part of the job!!

I noticed in the SV game Rackley doesn't wear a headset. Does he never wear one and let his coordinators call plays?

Damn Bucky, that sucks when you are being misquoted from a quote that misquoted what you said in the first place. That I would be afraid of... :D

Coordinators call the plays, but in critical situations (4th down, etc.) Rackley will be the final facto r. Kids have to buy into any system for it to work.

First of all. I DON'T CARRY THE DAMN WATER. YOU CAN SHOVE THAT CRAP UP YOUR ***. And second of all, I have not declared myself an expert on the subject of football. I go to every practice and every game with Judson, so I think I would know what goes on. If Rackley wants a play run, that play is going to get run. Mangold is a very good coach, but he knows Rackley has the final say in everything. The only reason I said anything about this was because someone else mentioned it.
Don't ever call me a water boy, or refer to me carrying water, because you obviously don't know what I do, otherwise you would not have made such a stupid post. Does whatever you coach make you an expert on the subject of football, or on what Trainers do? Because if you think all we do is put out water for the players you are seriously mistaken.
And no I am not Granger.

One of the things that hasn't been mentioned about the Judson-Roosevelt game was the outstanding goal line stand by the Judson defense. Rosie has the ball 1st and goal from the 1 and on 4 tries they are denied a TD. On the third try, RB was stuffed at the 1 foot line and on the final try the RB tried to go airborne, but got spun around in mid-air. His lower half of the body went over the goal line but the upper half and ball didn't make it since he was spun the opposite way.

Damn didn't you read my signature? Please don't cry. Yes it is the job of the student trainers to bring the players water. It is also their job (if they are good enough) to help tape. Get ice for players who might have a bruise. Stay out of the coaches way, etc..... Student trainers are also needed to set up equipment so the coaches so the players dont have to. Just get my water when I am thirsty, bring me ice when I have a contussion, tape my ankle when it is sore, set up my equipment for practice, and stay out of the way.
