Brent Garner broke a 44 yard td run on Cove's opening drive and took a knee in the endzone for a prayer. Garner threw for 173 yards and added 103 on the ground. I haven't seen the Dawgs this pumped up and motivated for a game EVER!!! This team is going to rally the rest of the season and could do something big. and i mean BIG, in the playoffs.. Our prayers are with all involved and GO DAWGS!!!!

I agree that the intensity on the field was the most that I have EVER seen with the DAWGS (and I have seen years of them). What also got me was how pumped the stands got when Brent was announced as captian for the coin toss, and we never settled down the entire game. I expect that to continue also. 05 are you on the field? If so can you hear the noise level from the fans?

That suprises me about as much as a bunch of cove guys gushing about how great their team is all the time. The mighty shall fall.

And, I for one, love the role of underdog. ;)

Pardon my ignorance, but what was the tragic accident?

cove QB drove over a hill and hit a freshman girl that was waiting on her bus, standing in the middle of the road. cops say it was not his fault, but a day that both families will have to live with for a very long time. taking a life is pretty rough.

T.D.
A large number of fans remember the days of every away game being someones homecomming for the simple reason that it was an easy W for them. So forgive our gushing. We have lived the days as a cellar dwellar, we will continue to praise what we have now become familiar with, which is winning. And we will continue to gush. This team has their sites set on another undefeated run through 13/5A, but they never expect that to be handed to them. The game in C.S. will most likely be for the crown again and I do expect the tigers to play them hard. Good luck, hope we have the 2 unbeatens on the field on the 28th.

They ought to be expelled! I played over 20 yrs of ball, and you guys have seen on Sportscenter what kind of language we use on the field.....but we never used language that pertained to subjects of this matter.

That's gutless!!

Well I am sure it is nice to say to Brent because it wasn't his fault and should have hurt his feeling and yes its very unacceptably to call a player a "killer" I mean very unacceptable and would have upset me very much if that happen to me.

If the refs were involved in the game and heard that type of taunting then they should have taken corrective action and either told the coaches to settle his players down or they would be objected from the game. That type of taunting is totally un called for.
If my child was to stoop to that level of play to try and gain an edge over another team or player he would not be playing any more football or other sport this year.
For Brent to come out and even play in the game says a lot about his character and desire to lead his team after such a traumatic event. I don't think i could have done it. I would be willing to bet that he or coach Welch talked to the other student's parents before Brent would play.
This was an accident and everyone involved needs to deal with it and begin to rebuild their lives.
Us Cove fans are very supportive of our teams and wish them only the best every year. We have been kicked around, bullied, etc. for many years and now that we are doing well we just want to be supportive of the team and hope that they have the ability to take this all the way.
One thing i will say is coach Welch has his faith and has gained the respect from his players year in and year out. He respects them and develops them to begin their lives as responsible young adults. He is there for them and is a role model of what other coaches should be.
He is undoubtidly the best coach Cove has ever had.

Good luck to all...............
