DJ Smalls was NOT at the game. is he still on the team?

Montague is number 1's name. Not sure of the spelling. He did look fast, and made one pretty nice catch. If we have lost Drabek for the year as some in the stands were saying, then he will be a definite help. Looks like the third playoff spot will be decided this weekend between the Woods and Collins. I am not sure about Smalls, what I heard has not been confirmed.

I was surprised how TWHS looked Friday night against a bad Klein team. Your QB stepped up at the end of the game and hit 3 good passes. The coaches had left the CB a lone until the end of the game when they needed the big catches.
Why is the O and D line so small? Are there some bigger kids coming up next year? If TWHS playes Collins like they did Klein they maybe staying home. Right now I would guess the district is Lufkin, Forrest and they a scramble for 3rd. I thought Klein had a chance but after Friday it looks like Collins and the Woodlands unless Conroe slips in. I have not seen them yet but they played Lufkin tough.

O-Line has always been small. Never really had a big Lineman that I can rememeber. So this year is the year they let 4 teams in the playoffs?
If we had Drabek and #1 then watch out! Just need the QB to throw more accurate.

I was impressed, for the most part, when The Woodlands played Katy, Have there been any improvements?

The only difference is that the defense is working better at rotating the bench in to keep the starters from getting exhausted like they did with Katy. The Offense is getting better with time but we need to make a decission on the quarterback and stay with it. Austin's arm is not going to get any better this year and Parsons isn't going to get the experience if he gets pulled multiple times per game. I liked the way they put Austin on the punt return because he is fast. I think Klein Forest will have a battle on their hands if they come into Friday's game thinking easy victory. You can say what you want about Klein but they have an Offensive line like North Shore (Big and Strong). I would pick them over Humble id they play.

I Agree with you! Let Parson's get the experience! He can only get better if he plays. Klein's O-Line was HUGE! Hudson ran back the opening kickoff which was a huge plus I think. I would leave him back there with Grote. Good coaching move!

No it was Austin that returned the opening kickoff. Called back on a penalty.
Also last years Oline was huge. Not real fast or athletic but very large. I haven't seen Collins this year, but I have to believe that the 3rd spot is between them and Woods. Looks like a tossup to me.

Westfield had Friday off, so I got to see Collins and Forest. Collins did not look good, once Goodson was stopped there was no offense. On the otherhand, the Forest So. QB Lakin looked pretty good completing two nice passes for TD's and making some nice runs himself. Woods should do well if they stop Goodson the way Forest did. Good luck with Forest this week!

Conroe played tough for the 1st series and then Lufkin dominated. Conroe does have some big kids and a solid rb. Lufkin held them to about 20 2nd half yards though. They seem much improved since last year. Their big monster fb was hurt and was on the sidelines the whole game. They could pull a few upsets though.

Winner will be in drivers seat for sure unfortunately, I don't think my Tigers have enough talent and are still injured (So is The Woodlands) enough to pull it out. Lufkin is team to beat with Woodlands AND Forest at ABE so they will run the table. I too saw the KF/Collins game and I don't think KF matches up as well as I thought to Lufkin. They ran at ease on Collins but QB missed many easier throw. That one TD was a fantastic catch #22 made. KF talent wise should have blown out the Tigers but it was 19-14 with 5 minutes left in game. KF has an excellent defense with speed.
In fact, 3rd place will be the race to watch this year and the only thing to keep 14-5A interesting. 1. Lufkin 8-0, 2. KF 7-1 and probably 2-3 teams with 5-3 records going to a coin flip.

Yes, Lufkin corral those Conroe backs after the first drive. I think that Conroe can make some noise if Maxie and that other back can start a ground attack. If Conroe can control that clock on some teams, the other teams will be in a world of hurt. They got the ball on the first drive and scored but ate up over half the first qter. :o
The winner out of Conroe and the Woodz will have a clear shot at 3rd. place. Klein Collins have to show a little bit more than the other nite.

Duke, do you have a hard on for #1 Montague? What makes him so good? From what I remember he had 2 carries (reverses) for -8 yards, and a dropped ball at his knees.
Parsons seems to be improving. He made some great completions when he didnt hesitate, especially that touchdown to Grote to win the game. But what a great last drive he had. Two competions with Bova, one with Grey, and the icing on the cake was with Grote.
As usual the Defense stepped it up again. Who cares if they are smaller than last years line, they have only given up 3 touchdowns in the past 3 games, you cant complain about that.

Mo MacArthur is the monster (6'1" 300lb) running back for the Conroe Tigers who is injured. Ironically, he tore his ACL playing against Lufkin in the 7 on 7 State Championship @ A&M back in late July. He was playing wide reciever and the field was slick and muddy. His own player under cut him in the knee diving to catch a pass over the middle. It was a freak accident, but that is the chance you take playing 7 on 7.

6'1 300 pounds....that would be a sight to see! 6'1 300 pounds in College or NFL is totally different than that of HS.
Just talking about reminds me of Jamar Toombs! Everyone remember that kid....ended up 287 pounds his junior year at aTm.....then ran a freakin' 4.88 in the combine.
Wow, turtles are world class sprinters on the side of that guy!!

Thank You Highlandballer for pointing out the obvious. I am not sure why Duke is thinking that he looked so "GOOD" ? Yea, he looks to be an athlete and has good speed but, I was not impressed with him as a WR and he did little to help us get the win. He looks more like a RB than WR. Furthermore, I am equally confused as to why the coaches would design an offensive game plan around a kid that is largely an unproven commodity. At least that is what it appeared like to me and many of the folks in the stands sitting around us.
Gents, I suggest that we quit worrying about what we don't have (i.e. Drabek or D.J.) and focus on what we do have. We do have great talent and sooner the coaches and the community start supporting the kids on the field and giving them some confidence, the better the team will get. I agree with Duke that we need to get Parsons more experience.

My take on sitiuation ( with facts ) :
1. Montgue ( sp ?? ) --played WR & RB in New Orleans --- he was a stud from what I have been told -- I saw him play in a JV game ---very impressive> He may not perform at Texas 5A varsity level --but Friday night he was nervous --obvious that he wanted so bad to do well & impress --a;so had problem with footing ( first time on turf probably ) ---largest crowd he ever played in N.O. was about 1000
2. DJ Smalls is off team for season --that is all I will say about that --real shame --started 3 games as soph --out all JR year --- now this ---
3. Drabeck would be a big help --- but if he is out --TWH must move on
4. I still think TWH in good shape for playoffs if Parsons can learn to set-up quicker ---- I have seen Conroe play 3 times this season -- not impressed ... their non-district 3 wins are a joke --those 3 teams would have a tough time agianst a good JV team ----Conroe looked good opening drive agianst a Lufkin team in chaos from Rita --- once Lufkin got their legs under them --they shut Conroe down -- started wholesale subbing at end of 3rd qtr
5. Winner of TWH / KF should have playoff in the bag --- but loser not out ---- 3rd place team can make it with 2 loses ( 1 to Lufkin + 1 to KF / TWH winner ) as long as they run the table against the rest --way I see the remaining 5 teams :
Klein ---already lost to TWH , probably lose to KF & Lufkin ---3 loses & out
Oak Ridge --will be lucky to get 1 win
Huntsville --beat OR ,, might win one more
Conroe --- probably beat OR , Huntsville , maybe Klein --4 loses & out
Klein Collins --the real wild card
The way I see it ---Collins , Forest , TWH fighting for 2 playoff spots ---- with Conroe & Klein laying in the weeds if something strange happens

Klein has a big O-line. Our defensive line play well as with Katy, North Shore & Humble. Small? Matt Hinton (#99) set the squat record is freshman year @ 620 lbs. Def-ends are very fast & strong. Klein is a good football team.
The only reason why the Klein game was close is that our offense is still WIP. It was good to see the last drive; typical Woodlands play. With more experience at the QB position (Parsons), look to see this improve. We have many weapons without Drabek. DJ Smalls is out for now. We might need to move one of our fast DE's to fullback.
This Friday is a playoff game. We simply must beat Klein Forest. This will be a defensive struggle. Alan Weimar is back at DE & Safeties are the best in the district; especially against the run.
My prediction? Woodlands 28 vs. Klein Forest 20.
You heard it here...

Hold on there MOUTHY!! I never said I was impressed with him, my point was I have never seen him before but he looked good as an athlete! As far as I am concered he wasted 2 or 3 of our drives trying to get him the ball. I think he can improve our team but he has yet to show me anything so far. Once again, I said he LOOKS GOOD because of the Athlete that he can be. Not for his performance that he did. I think he could break for a long run at any time.
Parsons is SLOWLY getting better and that is better then nothing! I was expecting more from Haywood, he has NOT impressed me AT ALL!!

If this Small's guy is in trouble, I wouldn't worry about his talent as a football player as much as I would about his character as a person. I could care less about his athletic talent, you need to fix the person and his problem. Even if he has the ability to play in college, what good is it if you can't keep your head on staight and stay out of trouble.
I feel sorry for him as a person more than an athlete.

My man Duke .... Controversy seems to follow you around on this board. You need to chill. Your point was not very clear as you used caps "GOOD" to describe #1. Others on this board interpreted your words the same way as I did. You seem to use caps alot.
While you may not agree with what others such as myself say on this board or the way we say it, you need to accept that there are other opinions from yours. I meant no disrespect by my words but, it sure did seem like you were way impressed. Anyway, calling me names like "MOUTHY" and a young "PUNK" is not exactly mature and shows no class. #1 Montague ?
He has great speed & suppose to be great in the open field. That did not materialized in the Klein game. There are only three reasons for this: 1) QB did not get the ball to him, 2) play call against defense or 3) not a game day player. The last drive did not include Mr. Montague. Good calls, good receivers, and especially good passing; something we have been waiting for.
Do not get me wrong, Montague will make some big plays. His hands are not as great as Drabek, but does run well. Grote runs good & Bova is solid w/good hands.
When the QB kicks in, this will be an explosive offense. The TE (McKey) is a tall target & a sure catch. With DJ Smalls out, we need a fast, strong fullback at around 240 lbs. That is the only hole right now.
Offensive line is improving w/each day. The offensive player of the week are the JV players of last year. That says something...
Watch out Klein Forest... What did I say? 28 to 20 Woodlands?

actually, mcarthur didnt tear his acl, he broke his ankle. and he was playing WR against lufkin because he was head up on hewitt and taking him across the middle, and completing 90% thrown to him. therefore, hewitt's great CB skills were cancelled out and mo was maximized. when mcarthur comes back he will be 100% and should definately help control the ball and time of possesion, and should help conroe contend for that third playoff spot
