Hey, KT- You have Mesquite in DI and in D2, and no Tyler Lee or JT?

I always mess something up when I do these brackets the first time. Should be Garland vs. John Tyler. Mesquite in Div. 1.

Also, according to UIL, Berkner has a larger enrollment than Lake Highlands.
Last year Berkner went D1 playing Skyline in Bi-district w/ Jesuit and LH going D2.
Division 1 region 3 looks tough. Lamar, Westfield, North Shore and Pearland all have a chance to finish 10-0 and all 4 teams face each other in the 1st round. Wow.

If anyone but Westfield or North Shore emerges from that group I will be shocked...like second half Bills-Oilers, Frank Reich shocked.
I don't know what to think about HISD after watching Westside get undressed by Dobie last year. Lamar and Madison look good on paper this year, but they have alot to prove in my book. On the other hand, they've been there before whereas Westside was the new kid on the block last year.

Too bad we wont see much of them...and it's also a shame that either Westfield or North Shore wont make it past the 2nd round....either one of those teams could make a shot at it all.

Yessir...I totally agree. North Shore has had some brutal 2nd round matchups over the years, but eventually you're going to have to beat teams of that caliber to reach your goals anyway.
Last year, watching that Ryan-IMac game, I knew I was watching two of the best teams in the state and they were battling just to get out of round one! But, again, the winner would eventually face Carroll anyway...so, oh well.

I think I'm one of the few who thinks we should have a playoff system in which a district champ has a bye. District champs shouldn't face off in the first or 2nd round.....that's just me I guess. You have Lamar and Pearland who MIGHT turn out to be good teams and win their districts facing Westfield and Northshore in the first.

I've seen Pearland play twice and Lamar play once, this year....neither should advance more than 2 rounds in the playoffs. They just don't have what it takes!

Hey, we're right with you there. Have you seen our SuperBracket proposal? One bracket, One champion, and district champs get a bye. It was actually proposed to the Coaches Association but they voted it down. Coach Gage's comment was something like, "The only ones for this type of thing have never been there." I beg to differ :D .
Oh well, I can totally understand the coaches' reservations. It would be quite a radical change from the norm. However, the way things are headed, everyone will make the playoffs and people will get participation medals and, heck, why even keep score?

Anything can happen playoff time...I didnt think Lamar would beat PA memorial or that Westside would beat spring....but it happens.

I think this 4 team playoff thing is gonna water down High School football the same way players leaving early or going straight to the NBA watered down NCAA basketball.....just not the same.

if the districts include more teams(at least 8 more like 10) then I can see 4 teams making the playoffs.

I think they are going to the 4 team per district format next year. Just go back in recent history and look at the records of 3rd and 4th place teams. You can go 2-8 and not worry about missing the playoffs. All games might as well be district games.

All games might be district games when they go to more 10 team districts next year. 4 teams making playoffs make sense if the districts are large.

is Westlake really gonna go D1?
I think that gives them a good chance to go really deep.

If the season ended today they would if thats what the bracket says. Still a few games to be played (ok well a little more than a few lmao) so we'll see.
