Give it time - once you are playing 5a varsity, I think Cy Woods will be talked about quite a bit...I know you guys are chomping at the bit to play the big time over there and I don't blame you!! Woods is going to have a good team

The Marshall message boards probably added quite a lot of fuel to Cy-Woods' fire.

Evidently, it carried over into the Coldspring game as well. They will be playing Bryan this week.
Keep up the good work Cy-Woods!

Yeah..a JV team embarassing a 4A varsity powerhouse was probably no reason to cause attention either.

If you are talking about the Marshall Mavericks, they are 0-2 this year and are not considered a 4A powerhouse. They were once very good and had a couple of more good years in 2004 and 2005, but not this year.

Didnt cy-woods put up like 60 points? Not bad for a JV...against a varsity team at any level.

I would not dare compare Coldsprings football to Lufkins, but they have a very physical and talented team. I would not be surprised to be hearing more about them come playoff time.;)

Too funny!! I know one thing I'll bet will happen - none of the 17-5a schools will be taking y'all lightly...that's almost a guarantee. Y'all are going to be so hyped up to take that first true varsity snap and the team has been together now for a couple of years so it's going to be a good season for Woods - of that I have no doubts. Notice, I've already taken the Cy off and you are just Woods now - welcome to the neighborhood:D:D

Thanks CFMom. We are glad to be in this district and hope to contribute to keeping 17-5A know as a competitor. We have lived in the area for 16 years and know most of the players at Jersey Village, Cy-Falls and Cy-Fair. Our kids have grown up and played together since elementary school. Now we compete against each other. We have a good time when we play each other and have a lot of respect for one another. Best of luck to all the schools in our district and we will see you on the field.

I saw that....the weird thing is...I can't find any threads after the beating they took. "Why are we trying 4 hours to play a JV team?" "What will this prove? we will probably be up by 30 in the first, I'd rather play a 9 game season" "WHy is their Stadium so Big?, they had twice the players we had"....hillarious.

LOL - sounds like us - I have to tell people who sit too close to watch out for flailing arms and they might want one of those headsets the airline employees wear. KTCarl swears I need valium during games:p. Of course, he sat TWO seats from me at the Stratford/Falls game - he knows how to avoid possible injury:D

After this year I have to move my loyalty from Fair to Woods. Oldest is at Fair and youngest ones will go to Woods unless we get rezoned again!!!

Well, we wont really know what they can do until next year when they play the big boys. I realize that most people on this forum could care less about a JV football team. It is over anxious parents such as myself that cannot wait until next year.

Glad to see Woods is doing well. A couple of tempering comments are warranted, however.
First, I think I remember Morton Ranch doing pretty well in their "JV" season also. Second, remember that your JV has 100% of the best players from the school on it -- it's not like the best 15 juniors and best 3 sophomores are playing up on the varsity. I think playing 3A and 4A varsities will be a much better indication of where you are than playing the JVs of 17-5A. If you don't run the table on the JVs in the district, something is wrong.
Still, I think you guys have served notice, and your neighbors in 17-5A have noticed. Congrats and good luck.
