Martellus Bennett to wear #85 to honor friend Kevin Everett (http://www.coachfran.com/viewArticle.aspx?a=540)

"On my radio show last night Martellus Bennett revealed that he is going to change from his usual No. 13 to No. 85 for this game as a tribute to his good friend Kevin Everett of the Buffalo Bills. Kevin suffered a spinal injury last Sunday.

Martellus came to me about this because he and Kevin became close a couple of years ago when Marty made his official visit to Miami, where Kevin played. You can read the details in a news release from our sports information office that is posted on this site.

Also showing the usual spirit of team and togetherness that we’ve become so used to with this squad, wide receiver Jeremy Brown was willing to give up the No. 85 and wear No. 17 for a game."

Very classy move by one of my favorite college players.

I got to meet Martellus when he was a junior at Alief Taylor. He is easily one of the nicest, most engaging kids I've met. Many Texas fans have some animosity towards him for switching to Aggie at the last minute to go play with his brother, but having met him and working with his dad (absolutely great great guy) I can't help but root for him. He is a special talent and I expect him to get drafted in the first round when he does come out. He doesn't get many opportunities to show off his athleticism in Fran's offense, but he should shine in the NFL.

They had a good article about this in The Battalion the other day. It said they became friends when he made recruiting visits to Miami. Great guy.

That's an awesome tribute!!

I wish A&M would use his talent a lot more than they do. That guy really puts out effort. I think Fran will try to give him a little extra reason to shine this week.
