Tonight, there was only one word to describe him.

Amazing

His catches were incredible, i've never seen a high school athlete make the grabs that he made. If he is EVER in single coverage, he comes up with it. No lie, no joke, he gets the ball.

This guy is on a whole different level than any receiver i've witnessed in HS.

We don't know what its like to throw the ball down here in the Lake, from past experince and from what little passes we've seen though we got a really good reciever who just never gets a chance, Vincent Brooks.
Whenever he gets the ball he is money, and the only two players who were money during the Smithson Valley game last year were Elrick Jones and V. The cool thing is I used to play football with this kid out in the street (one of only a select few who have tackles against this kid, if a 6th grade two hand touch counts as a tackle). Because of the option Offense we'll never know how good he really is.

Oh yeah Dez is one of the best if not the best in the state, saw some highlights of him, all I could say on one of his catches was "damn"

Go Lufkin I'm rooting for yall this year, even through one of the most powerful hurricanes in our nation's history yall still had kids that didn't miss a damn practice, talk about dedication.

Hey guys I don,t know if he is the best in the state, really does not matter to me, but I glad he,s on Lufkin,s team because this kid is for real.He has got to be in the top ten.And I found out that he is human, he missed one last night.... :p That catch with the defender all over him and he would not let go, just awesome.

The Drabek kid is pretty good too. Seeing Dez and Drabek play against each other will be fun to watch

Please man?? I have seen a lot of football in my life and trust me i have never seen a hs receiver this good?? He is the real deal and all of that trust me. Do not forget this is an offense where Lufkin throws to 4 to 5 different very very good receivers. Trust me!! This guy is scary scary talented i kid you not!! He is just one of those special players that you do not see very often. AKA Reggie Mcneil or Javorski Lane. He is on their level but at a different position. Stats i am not sure but i know he has about 8 td's in 4 games and is averaging well over 100 yards per game.

Stats........... Great stats don't always equate to Superstar. There are a lot of High School players with some huge stats but alot of them are not good enough to move on to the next level and play College Football. That is just a fact. Now maybe the guy you are talking about is a College Prospect and if so then good for him. What class is he(Soph, Jr or Sr) and what Colleges are after him?

Dez Bryant in my mind is the best WR in Texas. Now I am a Lufkin fan, but I have never seen a WR dominate the game like he has in a while. He really just out jumps the DB for the football. If he is not double teamed call it quit its his football. He is already physically there at the next level. 6'3 215lbs. 34inch verticle last summer. He has already performed well in clutch situations catching 2 TD's against SLC in his first career varsity start. Wow and he almost had three as that last one was jared loose by DB Simpson at the last second with Bryant reaching over his body to make the circus grab.

But hey Renfro and Jacobsen are up there. I really like Clint tho but McKay will be better at the next level.

Top 3 WR's in Texas

1. Dez Bryant
2. Clint Renfro
3. McKay Jacobsen

The only reason I give Dez the slight edge is becuase of his Physical feature no disrepect to Clint he is an amazing WR who can make some grabs and some I wish he didnt make (At Floyd Casey Stadium).

I would go with those three as well, maybe not in that order ;) I hope I get to see Dez again in round 5

A&M - a name might help - who are you talking about?

I think he's talking about a junior they have named Detron Lewis but I'm not positive.

Lewis is a very good player, but not quite the physical specimen that Bryant is already.

Funny how he brags about this player, but does not know his name....I think between Dez Bryant and Renfro for sure.

Isn't there a guy from South Garland that is supposed to be very good?? Also, Drabek would be up there if he was healthy.

South Garland has a couple of very good ones; however, one of them has had to play RB to help the team there...Phillip Payne (Texas commit). Derron Montgomery is the other, but I think he got injured.

How big is Lewis and how many TD's does he have. Bryant is around the 400 yard mark with 7 TD's and he has not finished one complete game yet. I think the Nac game was his longest stay in. Im sure if Outlaw wanted Bryant to build his stats he could have around 14-15 TD's cause we havent seen a DB jump with him yet.

detron is 6-1, 180 pounds and has 8 touchdowns, including 3 last saturday vs waco

Lufkin fans is it me or does Dez Bryant kind of remind you of Braylon Edwards. If you look at the way he catches the ball in the redzone and how he uses his body to shield off DB's. It is very similar. I do know Edwards is Bryants favorite WR. I will have ask him if he uses film from Braylon to help him. If you never seen Bryant play he will only amaze you catch after catch.

there arent too many junior classes like consol's and detron is probably the best player on the team now that daniel failed

we are going to go very deep in the playoffs next year

How many rb's can Texas load up with? As good as McGee is - you wonder why he's going to UT? Charles has the position in hand for 4 years, unless McGee is better than him - that's a big gamble.

I see both Mcgee and Goodson are rated as one of the best rb's in the nation in Rivals. They are listed as 4 star player's which is excellent. 5 star's are very rare. Hewitt is a 4 star also and Shankle is on there. Texas players everywhere like usual if you go look at the top 100 by position. Not a surprise. I see this kid named Eddie Jones from Kilgore is listed as the top defensive lineman in the nation!! Marshall just beat them in a very low scoring game. Dez will definitely be ranked as one of the top wr's next year and he will be a blue chipper and possible 5 star in my opinion.

I said one of the best rb's in the state and i meant nation obviously. I changed it. Big difference. Well maybe not?? Usually if you are one of the best in Texas you are one of the best in the nation.

Dez will be twice the football player J Mike was by the time he finishes up his SR year now that is scary. We used to argue who is better Sparky or "Q" this cat can do Both Out Jump you and explode in open field. So Dez might end up being better then both of them.

I personally thought Q was the best Lufkin wr ever until Dez. There is really no comparison and that is scary to say when comparing Dez to Q and that is really saying something. And yes he does remind me of a young Braylon Edwards. If they start doubling him Lufkin has so many other options at wr to go to. Heck, even if they start doubling him on the fade route we have Thad on the other side at 6'3!!

A double team may not stop him either. Last year in pratice Dez ran a drag I picked him up made a pretty nice play walled him and had my body on him Claybon threw him a bad pass low and away from him. Bryant leaps about 5 yards a catches the football I just sat there and shook my head I had good defense just couldnt stop him from catching the football.

i'm suprised there hasn't been a slew of dragon fans chiming in giving names of dragon receivers, but i think i'd have to agree here. The best individual receiver would have to be dez in my opinion. Of course the best receiver core still belongs to slc ;)

You're probably right Crew - the key to SLC has been and is that you can't iso on one receiver. Your best might cover Renfro ok, but your second and third best cover men are going to be wayyyy overmatched with Jacobsen and co. Teamwork is the key for you guys.

Having said that -- this is clearly the best receiving corp. I can remember at Lufkin. Bryant may eventually start drawing a 2 deep coverage - leaving Shankle (fastest wr in state), Thomas and Gordon fairly free. I'm hoping by late district - Claybon will be 2/3 as efficient as McElroy on reads - then LP will be lethal instead of just dangerous.

I've never seen him play, but if Dez is a Reggie McNeil/J Lane at the wide reciever position as far as dominating the opposition why wasnt he on varsity until the playoffs? It seems like he would've/could've been your best receiver last year.

I agree that Q was something else, and I did not think we would have one like him here for a while, but (ding) along came some kid name Dez.Only six starts at the varsity level and he,s going to be a nightmare for some db,s.

LL - Dez had a litttle growing up to do, nothing major -- but it was certainly a case where they absolutely needed to put him in and they did. We heard the buzz all year on Dez. I don't think Coach Outlaw was expecting him to come up with 5-6 catches and 3 td's in two huge playoff games. In hindsight, I'd bet a few coaches wished he had played more.

Dez had his chance but his attitude was not there. Now Dez is a completly different person great attitude, and team player. The Sky is the limit for this young man and I wish him the best.

LOL JV was so funny the DB's didnt know what to do.
