From What I understand the Blond Hair and Black Pants is a playoff thing, and if so it should stay their.
Bringing out a playoff tradition to early is a bad idea.

Other than the excitement some of the kids may feel because of the cameras, this game will be treated like any other nondistrict game. It's one of the hallmarks of the program, especially during the current run. One game at a time, improve each week, win district & be playing at Thanksgiving. It would absolutely stun me to see anything out the norm done on the Carroll side in recognition of this contest.

Absolutely not. While Carroll will be the home team, sitting on the west side of Ford, the Dragons will be wearing their away whites. Evidently the Bulls wanted to show their colors. I would be stunned if Carroll wore black pants.

On November 10th the lee Roosevelt game will be relevant the other game this weekend at SMU will be history and mean absolutely nothing. I sit here a read thread after thread asking "What color pants will they wear?" "how is the parking at Ford Field?" "What gas will you put in your SUV?" "Will you stand up or sit down when the ref scratches his ***?" "Are you cooking Brots or pancakes at the tailgate party?" "Will the QB throw up before he tosses a TD pass?" Some of the Tread titles don't even mention what team they are talking about, like there are no other games going on in the State of Texas on Saturday. This is nothing more than a glorified exhibition game. It has no more importance or relevance than the Madison v O’Connor game had last week. So while you are worried about protecting my States Reputation in high School Football I am just pointing out the fact that their are games that mean something this weekend. To me I don’t believe one game win or loose will prove anything more than SLC is better or worse on Saturday than some team that traveled a long way to play them. It really means nothing else to us down in South Texas.
Oh and to answer the question for the title of this tread. No the SA Southwest High School Dragons will not wear Black Pants!

Understand your frustration but, to be truthful, nobody's games mean squat right now. Not Carroll's or anyone elses. It's called nondistrict & has no bearing on the playoffs.

 Under any realistic set of circumstances what I said is entirely true. Maybe there's a mathematical set of circumstances that would dictate a squad's nondistrict record having an impact on their ability to make the playoffs but in reality there is no threat of it coming to pass. Especially now that we send for teams per district to the playoffs. Nondistrict games are played to prep your team for their district play. While you always play to win, these games are played for prepatory & improvement purposes. I can go 0-3 and then run the table in district & win the district title/qualify for the playoffs. The post was meant to address the claim that Carroll's game means nothing this week while other teams games do.

I guess Smithson Valley, SA Madison, SA Reagan, Converse Judson, SA Warren mean nothing to you? Not to menthion all of the El Paso Schools all of the Laredo Schools, all of the Ft Bend schools like FB Marshall.
"did you start in zero week" Yes if you have a 9 team district you have to play Zero Week, you also have to play Week One, you then start District in Week Two and everyone gets a bye week during district play.

From 80-89 there were 20 teams that played for a 5A title.
Since 90, 68 teams have played for a title.
http://www.5atexasfootball.com/champs.htm
Of those 88 teams, SA teams not named Converse Judson or Smithson Valley have a totla of four appearances and one title. That includes the '98 SA MacArthur team that got in on a technicality.
Compund that with they basically get their own region, and yeah I think you can make a pretty good case that SA football is basically irrelevant to most fans in the state.

Yes it is an exhibition and yes it is non district, but come on man...its the nationally ranked no.1 vs no. 2. Yes it won't prove anything is better or worse between either team (accept for some bragging rights) but if nothing else it should make for some really exciting HS football. It should be a great match up, and aside from the playoffs later in the season, anyone would be hard pressed to find a better match up this early in the season. And like I've said before, I'm definatley the last person to support SLC, but they are representing our state this Saturday and I think everyone should show some respect to that end. For the past few years...SLC and other tx schools have been playing out of state non district games and almost every time, the Tx teams have prevailed. So no, if SLC wins or loses Saturday it won't matter in the least for their district play, but it will yet again show the strength of Texas high school football if they win, and they are the ones setting that reputation. I live in Dallas myself, and will be attending the game. I urge everyone in the DFW area and otherwise, that loves to watch great HS football games, to come out and support the Dragons as they represent us this Saturday at Ford Stadium.

Seems everyone wants to make me out as someone that does not support SLC. My post has nothing to do with the game, or if I am a proud Texan and want to see a Texas team beat a team from out of state. It has everything to do with SLC fans starting post like this is the 5ASouthlakeCarrollTexasfootball.com forum. I respect SLC, I am in awe of their accomplishments, their backing and their spirit. I'm just making the point that this is a state wide board; try writing your subjects to a new post with that in mind

I can agree with that...there is certainly a large number of SLC oriented threads on this board vs. other great schools. I'm not at all argiung with you on this matter, but we both have to face facts. SLC has won 4 state titles in 5 years...(and while no one is ignoring that fact) 5atexasfootball.com forum or otherwise, its naturally going to generate some added buzz through out the state's HS football discussion. Being an SV fan myself, I used to get rather upset at how many SLC threads there was but after all they have done I have come to accept it and be used to it...I mean they have earned the recognition right? And I know I sounded like I was calling you out on your last post, but I didn't mean for it to sound that way. I was just stating that even though non district - the SLC vs. MNW should be a great game. It does seem unfair sometimes that SLC receives so much immediate attention around the boards when there are numerous other Tx HS programs that are deserving of such praise. But until SLC is knocked of it's high horse/ or until their football program starts to descend, it is something all TX HS football fans will have to live with.

All you guys have to do is start threads about your teams or schools or districts or whatever... Quit moaning about the number of SLC threads... They are proactive... You're reactive...
Start making your own... It's all free... I don't understand what all the complaining's about...

I have no complaint over a SLC thread. I don't care if there are 500 SLC threads. Just make sure you have SLC in the title of the thread. Yes it’s open and free to start threads and yes I avoid threads on subjects I really don't feel like wasting my time with. But look at the TITLE to this thread. It says nothing about SLC. When I started to Hijack this thread there were two other SLC threads started that said nothing about SLC in the Title of the thread. All I am asking is for some posters to stop acting like they are the only game this Saturday and respect the rest of us the same way we respect you. I don't start threads that are titled "The Dragon QB can't throw the Ball!" Because I respect the fact that there are other Dragon mascots. All though the Southwest Dragon QB can’t throw the ball! All I am asking is that start up as many Threads about SLC as you want. Fill up the whole front page if you need to just mention SLC in the Title so I can at least skip to the threads I care to read. I always see people complain “if you don’t like the thread don't open it.” That does not apply when the thread is Titled "Wonder if Dragons will wear Black Pants?" I have no way of knowing what Dragon team you are talking about. Just so some respect we are all showing plenty of respect to SLC and giving them much love and wish them the best but just give us an ounce of that same treatment back is all we ask.

This has nothing to do with the number of SLC post. You can search my history and see I have never once complained about the number of SLC post. I am complaining about the number of SLC post that don't mention SLC in the subject hell this one does not even mention it in the first thread. You are correct in that there was no mention of Southlake Carroll in the titles of the 2 or 3 threads that you hijacked. Now MOST people who click on a thread usually READ the first post on the thread and most of the time it is very obvious who or what the thread is about. You can't always KNOW what the thread is about until you read the first post. You clicked on the titles but then posted stuff that had nothing to do with the thread title and the first post. Please don't act like you truly didn't know what those threads were talking about when you posted stuff that had nothing to do with them. Did you not read the first post in those threads or do you just always post a message based on the thread title without reading the first post? I can understand where you are coming from on the thread titles because there are MANY throughout this forum that are vague. I have been fooled to think a thread was about one thing but then when I click on it, it is about something totally different. I find that out once I READ the first post. If I am not interested after reading the first post I just leave the thread. So I just wondered why you chose the three threads about Southlake Carroll to make a statement or complain about when there have been MANY vague thread titles for the past several years that you could have made your point with. I mean you could have a field day in the YARD section of this forum. I understand you don't hate Southlake and all that but I do find it odd that you chose those threads out of the MANY on here to make your statement. There are some things I don't like about this forum but I don't expect everyone in here to change because I don't like the way they do things in here. I doubt everyone will change the way they post a thread title just to please you either. We don't live in a perfect world and this is FAR from a perfect forum. I will say this is one of the best I have seen. On a side note, those are some good pics on your website!!!

Sure I knew when I saw the blond hair reference this was a SLC thread, and yes I could have closed it like the other two threads that were SLC threads and had no mention of SLC in the subject line. But this was the third thread that I had opened because I did not know if someone was talking about Southlake Carroll, the weather channel, or Saturday's date. It's called making a point that's all. I did get a little heated when some made it clear they had no idea the 265 was starting district play this year, but I am more than happy to let this thread go at this point. Let it slowly drift down into the 2nd and then third page and then into the great Thread House in the sky. I have made my point and in someway it looks like I got someone's attention. You don't see me posting in the brand new thread titled "SLC vs Miami is played in Texas right?" that was started at 3:00pm this afternoon. Why because I have no interest in it. I think I have made my argument well at this point, not that it is a winning or losing argument, just that I have made it. If it's all the same to everyone else I will go back to my crapy region, with our crapy football and start crapy threads about what crapy team will beat what crappy team because I live in San Antonio

Fellas. Shooter is NOT saying the Dragons game is meaningless. He is saying that there are so damn many threads about this ONE game. He was saying that people are starting threads without even specifying that it's a SLC MNW thread. There's more than 1 team named the dragons, there's more than one team playing on saturday, etc. That's what he was trying to say. He started talking about how the Lee vs SA Roosevelt game was actually important because it is a district game and that's why he kept bringing it up. It DOES mean something. Both of those teams could be a spoiler to SA Madison, Smithson Valley, or SA Reagan, all of whom are in most Top 25's, and Judson. Not to mention the other teams in the 26-5...

And they are playing Lufkin this week. Not sure what color their pants will be. They are the Golden Dragons and their other color is black. Glad to be of help.

Man...I seriously don't know what your problem is. Your making an irrelevant point about nothing. A SLC fan made a thread to ask his fellow dragon fans about the color of pants they were going to wear in the game Saturday. All anyone on this thread has tried (myself included) to do is be objective on the somewhat negative remarks you made in the beginning of the thread. And quite honestly, in my 1st post I wasn't even really commenting to you directly, but to everyone on the board about coming out to what I think will be a great game. You obviously must like to argue because every time they have tried to comment objectively to your posts, you twist everything around like we're spitting in your face or something. So you are interested in other games this Saturday besides the SLC game...fine. So you want people to put a subject in the thread title...fine. Not everyone is always going to be able to satisfy your whims. But you shouldn't dive bomb each thread just to satisfy yourself. 5atexasfootball.com is a public forum where anyone can get on here and talk TX HS football. If someone wants to go off on a tangent and start a thread about their grandmother's rat terrier, then thats their prerogative. And the site admins can also remove it if they see fit...its that simple. Your not the only one that posts on this site. If you read the first few posts of a thread and realize it doesn't interest you, you don't have to post anything, let alone be so negative to everyone else just cause you were mistaken. All I was trying to do was have a simple discussion with another HS football fan about a simple subject. I'm sorry you were mistaken about which dragons they were referring to, but don't go crazy over such a simple mistake. Its just a message board.

Is the back button really that much of an inconvenience for you? If one opens a thread that doesn't contain anything you're interested in, then there are easily two ways out: hit the back botton or use the "go to" button that the KTs provide. I agree that there are a large number of threads on this damn MNW game, but they are also quite easy to simply skip over.
