Chris Mortenson is reporting a Patriots camera-man has been kicked out of a stadium for the second time in 10 months for filming the Jets playcalling instead of his own team.
His camera was confiscated and film will be analyzed by Mr. Goodell. If found guilty, the Pats could forfeit draft pick(s).
The same thing happened against the Packers last year.
I hate cheaters.

Don't know - but one or all of them. It's against protocol to do that - the purpose of you filming your own team is obviously for your benefit in training - and you can do that. But you can't film the other team and try to decipher what theire calls are.

Losing the draft pick is not near enough punishment. If true, Goodell should take the pick and ban them from the post season. Yes. I'm saying he should make an example of them.

I don't think you should go to that length of punishment, because it most likely isn't the players having someone record the Jets' practice. Someone on the coaching staff should be the one to pay. If not all of them if nobody comes forward and admits it was them. I think the coaching staff should be suspended, and force the owner to appoint interim coaches. I think that would be a good punishment.

My understanding was that it was during the game this weekend. If this guy has been caught before, what's he still doing with the organization and wearing their credentials.
The punishment should be severe. If anything reflects poorly on the league, it's cheating. Ask the NBA.
I don't think a forfiet is too much to ask for, considering this was not the first time their employee had been caught.

But your not understanding what I am saying. The players are more than likely not at fault. Don't punish the players for what the guys in the offices are doing or allowing to happen. Punish those guys, and the coaches.

I would agree with you to a point except. It's not the players who reap the greatest rewards from the post season financially. It's the organization. Therefore, banning them from the post season for the year they are found in violation, hits the organization right in the wallet. That's how you get folks attention by taking their money.

The problem here is you have to get the attention of the organization. This is not high school or the NCAA. The is professional football. The players get paid (and paid well) to play the sport. They will not take a significant hit in the wallet if the organization gets punished severely.

I'm with you. However, suspending the staff and having to find a new one is going to be a disruption in and of itself. One loss due to a forfiet is not going to ruin the players chances at the post season. The players are already hurt by this. If they were stealing defensive signals, then that negates the entire offensive performance. It sucks.
If The Commish is going to suspend players for conduct unbecoming, then he needs to make as sharp of punishment on management and staff for this.

Amen. Maybe my idea of a post-season ban is a bit harsh. Maybe that could serve as a punishment for teams repeatedly violating the rule. A forfeit would do nicely.

That is exactly what I was trying to say. A punishment on the management and staff. As for the forfeit, I think it would be a good punishment but I don't see the Commish doing that. He is known for his strict punishments, but I don't think he would do that.

They should forfeit the win, get fined around 20 mil and yield draft picks 3 and 5 to the worst team.
And if there is evidence that they did this during the superbowl wins....well, hehe, forfeit all Superbowl wins, trophies, etc.

im not convinced that the players had no knowledge of this happening... i know its supposed to be innocent until proven guilty, but when has that ever been true?

I don't think there will ever be a way to prove who did or did not have knowledge of it. It's not a criminal offense, so there is no real leverage to use to force people to talk.
I wouldn't be suprized to see the caught suspect fired by NE as a PR move, but am sure he will receive a nice exit package for his confidentiality.
Then perhaps in the future if the NFL blows up like the NBA has he can write a book on how common a practice it is....LOL
