What does everyone think of Houston's first outing with Shaub?

He is that much better than Carr. I give Carr credit for enduring the sacks, but he was permanently rattled from about year 3 on. Kubiak gave him one full year - and he failed terribly.

Schaub is not all-pro, but he's good.

I think the real question is, is the oline really that much better?

Shaub played for U of H too?
(pro board material)

I thought he did fine. Of course Andre Johnson went off, so that helped too.

Ooops, my bad. I don't post in these forums that often. If the admins see this, can it be moved to the NFL forum?

Thanks.

Shaub is that much better than car. Some people in the Texans' organiztion has came out and said PUBLICLY that David Carr could not read defenses. They told him who to throw it to, and when he broke the huddle he already knew where he was throwing the ball. If the reciver wasnt open, he didn't(didnt know how to)look for the 2nd or 3rd WR...he tried to FORCE it(INT) or held it too long waiting for that guy to get open(Sack)...When Kubiack came in, he brought a more complicated offense which was even tougher on Carr. Shuab made some plays that David wouldn't have made yesterday.

Schaub's not All Pro yet, but he definitely made plays I don't think Carr would have made. I think the passes he makes in the face of pressure are the most notable difference. You'd see Carr's head immediately drop when heavy pressure was coming. He would duck and run. Schaub stays poised and finds a receiver. Schaub only made one really bad pass in that game that I saw, and that was obviously the INT.

the first quarter was something of a relapse with the sack by Donnie Edwards, the lofty INT into the endzone, and I thought we were about to ready for more of the same ole crap.

Schaub stood in there, and made some tough throws. he fought through it, depended on some other players to help him. as much as Schaub helped, the rest of Texans helped themselves. if the defense stays healthy, the Texans should be able to stay in some games. i do believe Schaub will make plays, and if his teammates believe the same thing, we could be in for a treat. if he gets beat to hell like the first quarter, then it will be SOS.

I am still cautiously optimistic.

It is way too early to tell. KC has the worst team in the NFL this year IMO. They are going to be the Raiders of last year IMO I do not bet much but I bet all over this one yesterday. No such thing as a lock but this one was close.

Kc is really bad, but I think Oakland is going to repeat as the Oakland of last year. They are still the worst team in the NFL.

well i imagine shaub is smarter than carr...just read the sports illustrated from august 12th i believe where carr told his kids they were moving to charlotte to be closer to the beach...charlottes like 200 miles from a beach compared to houston 40-50 miles...might explain a lot

I have to admit that the Texans look better than I thought they would. There may be hope yet.:D

He is WAY better than Carr and he did very well when his OL gave him time to sit in the pocket and throw it down the field. If that were Carr, he would be sacked on almost every snap and pass attempt. Expect Schaub to have a very good season for the Texans.

Better than VY has for the Titans.

What tickled me was the ineligible receiver down field penalties.

I'm sure the o line was used to having to block down field whenever pressure came because Carr would either take off and run or get sacked. However, Schaub would scramble and move around until someone got open then make the play.

The line will have to get used to staying in their pass blocking schemes when the pressure comes because taking off and running is like option Z for Schaub. He will make a play down field if he can.

I like this kid he has moxie and can stand and deliver.

The Texans coaching staff and front office continue to amaze me with the players they find.

That's exactly what I said about those flags. Give the OL another game or so to get used to that. Hooray for a QB not afraid of making a play with his arm.

Shaub has a coach that involved the tightend and the wr you can't go wrong that way.Capers never knew those two positions existed. Maybe a few more wins.

I did`nt read all the post in here. But the big difference is Shaub gets the ball out (Bam) quick. More sustained drives, defense on the field less, they get rest, and the defense therefore has alot more left down the stretch in there tanks.
