Who is suprised by The Red Raiders record so far? I really thought they would be a better team this year.

Im sure they will STILL be ranked in the 5A AP state poll somehow this coming week. :D

If they are, the writers are stupid for that. They MIGHT do it, just to make the Longview game that much more enticing to the television audience. BUT, how many "#10" teams do you know that are 2-3? I don't think I've EVER heard of that. 2-2 is bad enough, but 2-3? I don't think they'll be ranked at all.

Well, I am downright flabberghasted that Rockwall pulled off the win  . Ok, I'll admit that I was wrong about thinking that game would be a total blowout. But I think that if a high ranked team loses to a non-ranked team then they should be dropped off the top 25 until they redeem themselves.

I guess I was one of the only ones NOT surprised that Rockwall pulled it off. I just had a sneaking feeling about that game Not to look ahead too much, but I guess we will see how good Rockwall is when we face them after Lee. I am looking at the Lee game right now, but I think all the Lobo fans remember the fight we got out of Rockwall last year. We had to pull off an 80-or-so yard drive to win the game last year. Rockwall is a feisty bunch.

I am very surprised that we are 2-3 right now!! I am so disappoating now. Tyler Lee been to the playoffs 9 years in the row and maybe this will be there first year in the last 9 years that they won't make the playoffs, I would be very surprised if that ever happen and I know all of you will be if that happen, I know that for sure!!

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they miss the playoffs. And I am sure of that.

Hey, I'm not resorting to name-calling here. I am jus tsaying I wouldn't be surprised if they miss the playoffs. If they lose to Longview, they will have a deep hole to dig out of. I'm sorry you think I'm stuck up, I am just a loyal Lobo fan that calls it like it is. And, frankly, Lee is NOT the same team this year. I guess we'll see what happens Thursday won't we? And, I am not a boy, I am at least old enough to remember how to write an intelligent sentence. But, I'm not going there.....see you at Rose Thursday.

You know what this is about? Billboard material. You East Texas guys sure pissed of Rockwall by ragging on them for not wanting to be in your district. Its all about the fire baby.

I think the Jackets earned the Lobos' respect last year when they almost beat us. I knew they would play Lee tough. I don't think you'll see too much billboard material from us Lobo fans.

We didn't want them in our district? Where did you get that? They were the ones trying to get OUT of our district for the past two realignments. The first time it worked. The next time it didn't.

will tlee look back to the debacle in ohio as a bad idea. i know i won't be convinced it didn't help a struggling team trying to find itself. i wish longview had been the one to go up if they had to have an et team. coldrain would have rued the day.

That trip to Ohio would have done few if any teams any good. Most teams are stuggling to find themselves that early in the season. SLC was. Any coach who agrees to such a game is would be a fool in most cases.

im glad tyler lee is finally starting to get looked at like they need to be. It seems to me that for a while people were constantly making excuses for why they were losing and not living up to peoples expectations. winning state one year doesnt mean you will be a good team the next, and people seemed to think that about REL. Maybe now that they dont have all this hype surronding them they can step up and play and possibly still make the playoffs.

SLCdad, please enlighted me on when SLC has stuggled this year. 2003 maybe when we played and then again vs Katy, last year in your tittle game maybe vs SV, but I must have missed the one this year.

Most teams are still working the kinks out that early in the season and SLC was no exception. Yes, SLC won the first three games by a large margin but each game showed much room for improvement. The biggest hole was the lack of a running game. They were pretty much a one dimensional team. That is why all of us SLC fans are so excited to see what Tre Newton and both QBs are doing over the last two games (with the help of a great offensive line and some 1st class play calling).
After game three it was apparent that SLC would need to improve if they were going to defend their crown. After seeing games 4 and 5, I think that SLC has a very good shot at going all the way. In fact, I posted here last week that I think this 2005 team may be the best EVER at SLC. After seeing what they did on Friday, I'm sticking with my opinion. Both the running game and the passing game were very, very effective the last two weeks against good competition.
Thank goodness Todd Dodge didn't take the Dragons up to the fiasco in Ohio. I believe that is the worst thing you can do to a high school football team early in the season. REL is now paying the price.

Going to Ohio is not what put REL in the position they are in right now.
They are just not a very good team so far.
Southlake Carroll would have been just fine traveling to Ohio.

I will jump right out there & say that IMO, this is the deepest Carroll team I've seen in 13 years of fandom.....I think that is why it has taken them a few games to become the well oiled machine we're use to! Coach Dodge has been using more players throughout the game than I've ever seen..whereas a lot of posters are posting that carroll is running up the score, it is obvious to anyone who is at the games that the Dragons are shuttling players in & out of the games with the same frequency at the beginning of the games as the end. I can't imagine what it will be like when he fianally settles on a starting crew & lets them play the majority of the game.

i'm not sure he's ever going to be as 11 man driven as in years past. keeping all hands fresh and in the game, with very little drop off in efficiency is certainly something new to us, but it isn't any bad. hurts individual stats, but in TEAMme environments, it's all good.

Your right, we'll never know, but I can't see a team from another state being able to keep up with our wideouts...either from a lack of conditioning or scheme issues, I just don't see it...

McElroy was under throwing the deep balls and the timing all the way around wasn't perfect. Fortunately, both of those things have improved greatly since then.

I have got to agree with Pride, that I don,t think the Ohio trip is the problem. Lee lost players last year and it hurts and shows. Just as the case with the pack this year. All teams will have this happen to them, I ve never seen it fail yet, as I have said in other threads, a team can,t win forever, even the mighty fall sooner or later.

Unlike college or pro teams, high school teams only have 1 or 2 years with most of their players (sophmores who play regularly are rare). That is why pre-district games are so important as preparation opportunities. Not only that, the mental aspect of high school football is HUGE. If a player or team doesn't have the confidence, they will lose. A few preseason games help players build confidence. When a team runs up to Ohio with a bunch of new players carrying the pride of Texas on their backs and being billed as the Texas big school champions it's a disaster waiting to happen.

problem with games like that we always wish some other team could have went up there then when they decide to play that team, the team is usually down in the dump's
Does any one know if Ohio Col will be coming to texas next year?

I hope you are right, I would like to see it be a game like the last five or so. I had not seen a Lee team get blown out until that Trinity game. It was a strange feeling.

I saw this coming after I saw the Colerain/Lee game. I've also seen several other teams play this year....and there is way better teams, here in Texas, than Lee and Colerain. I didn't mean the beginning of the year. And if you check my Rockwall vs Lee pick (a week before the game) I picked Lee to win a VERY close game 28-24....or there could be an upset, with Rockwall winning a close one.
And the whole, "Nostradamus" thing is useless frustration. So I don't hold it against you.

I thought that comment was kind of clever! haha. Game was looking good 'til Hill got hurt and went downhill from there. We actually moved the ball a little bit between the 20's but couldn't punch it in! I was in the middle of a losing weekend in games that should have been won!
Lee lost to Rockwall
Baylor lost to A&M
Dallas lost to Oakland
Jimmie Johnson crashed and fell behind in the points.
As you said, "useless frustration!"

You can still be critical of your team and a very loyal fan at the same time. We all do it including me!! It is part of being a fan. Now if you completely abandon ship and you quit going and listening to the games and all you do is trash your team when they are losing, or if you start cheering for a different team that is winning?? Then that is when you are a fairweather fan and i cannot stand those types. No worse type of fan in my opinion. I will be there win or lose for my teams. I might get mad or disappointed at them sometimes but i will still support them 100 percent in the end. It is just part of the normal emotions of being a fan of a team.

I agree pack. The Longview/Lufkin fans go round and round all the time about their teams. But, we are fans. We stick with the team through every win and esepcially every loss. We've all had disappointments from our teams. But, they are just kids out there playing for their teams, their schools, their cities. They don't get paid for the long hours they put in.
I will go into this game worried, like all the other games. I know that at any moment the game could turn and Lee could pull the victory out. That's the beauty of HS football....anything can happen at any moment.
