Please pray for a SV JV player who was airlifted off the field tonight and for an extra hedge of protection around each and every player who steps on a football field this season. It doesn't matter what team we root for, when a player goes down with a serious injury they quickly become our own. God bless each and every one of them.

Definitely. I have seen a few times Judson players have been carried off the field during a JV game. It hurts when you see it happen!

As a trainer I have helped remove players from the field. While it is always hard to put a good friend on a stretcher, it is even harder to put someone you don't know on one. Because you may not hear about how the person you don't know turned out, but a good friend you will know.
Keep all the athletes in our prayers ya'll

I am sorry to hear about any player that gets hurt, we should all say a prayer before we leave our house for a game that no player on any team gets hurt. So my prayers and thoughts go out to that young man. Hopefully everything turns out okay.:(

Yep Jrock MOM. I used to always do that before long away game trips but haven't gone to any since. I just pray no one else gets hurt and I will for sure pray for him.

I am praying for this young man and his family. I am also praying that this does not become a trend this weekend/season. I hope the young man is ok.
I posted on the Summit thread that I think it is awesome we can all put our differences aside and remember we are all Texans. May God bless these families and all of you.

It is tough to put anybody on a backboard and lifelite no matter what the situation. I pray and hope not to see this in person at any games this season.

Here is the article that was in the paper this morning. No update yet on his condition this morning but he was moving his hands and feet last night at the hospital. Thanks for praying.
SV player airlifted to hospital

Smithson Valley White football player Kelly Kirkpatrick was injured during the first half of the Rangers’ junior varsity win at Canyon Lake on Thursday.
Kirkpatrick, 16, was injured making a pass deflection during the second quarter of the Rangers’ 18-0 victory over the Hawks. Midway through the third period he informed his coaches and doctors attending the Smithson Valley sideline that he felt tingling and stiffness in his arms.
Not taking any chances, a helicopter was called to airlift him to a San Antonio hospital. Kirkpatrick was taken to University Hospital, where no word was available on his condition late Thursday.
“We wanted to be extra safe and extra cautious,” Comal ISD Athletic Director Jim Rodrigue said. “There were two doctors treating him, and they felt it would be better to be safe and make sure.
“Quite obviously there’s a possibility of it being serious, but they were optimistic about him being OK.”
The doctors attending the game said they were concerned about Kirkpatrick’s condition.
“It was more than playing it safe, because he left here still having significant neurological problems that needed to be evaluated further,” said Dr. David Starch of New Braunfels Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, who treated Kirkpatrick along with assistant, C. Michael Soulas.
Starch said EMS personnel treated Kirkpatrick until the helicopter arrived. The game was halted for an hour, as the player was strapped to a stretcher and transferred to the helicopter.
Officials had no further information late Thursday night.

Let's take a moment to pray to God and thank him...
Thank you God for listening to all of our prayers. We are all very thankful that this young man is going to be ok. We now pray that you watch over all the young athletes at the games tonight and tomorrow and keep them safe. Keep your hand over all of them Lord, as a W or L is nothing in comparison to one's life. Thank you again, Amen.
God bless all the athletes, their familes, coaches, friends, and teammates. God bless you all as well, stay safe.

Owned,
The kid got life-flighted to the hospital.
“It was more than playing it safe, because he left here still having significant neurological problems that needed to be evaluated further,” said Dr. David Starch of New Braunfels Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine, who treated Kirkpatrick along with assistant, C. Michael Soulas.
Obviously someone qualified to make such judgments took his condition seriously and thankfully the kid's OK.
