Do we know this young mans name? Please all of us join in praying for this young man...
Oh Lord, please send down your angels and put a hedge of protection on this young man and ask that you be there with him and super--naturally come down and heal this childs injury...I pray for the family of this child that you give them peace and comfort in this time of need...
In your holy name we pray, Amen...

I only say that because an AED saved the life of a Westlake player who stopped breathing on the sidelines. You may remember the story of Matt Naeder.

I understand it was a JV game... but the trainers are still there.... the equipment should be there. I think the govener just passed a bill that required every school to have one... but they may not all be distributed yet.

Summit may consider canceling the game... I mean, he was a part of the football program. I would think that would be the thing to do in such a situation.

Yeah you're right. It probably would be best. But, if they don't, I would like for our announcer to acknowledge what happened and ask for a moment of silence.
I dont think they will cancel the game but I'm sure they will do something in remember of the player because I think most of the players on Varsity would would want to play in remembrance of the player

We care deeply for the safety of our players, and our opponents. We never wish nor want to see anyone get hurt, or in this case, for someone to lose their life.
Thanks:) It sad but GOD dont make not mistake.

Im really interested in knowing what exactly happened.... maybe he took some sort of pregame supplement.
I know I sometimes use supplements (over the counter GNC stuff) before I work out and sometimes they have an adverse effect on my body.
Idk... way to early to speculate.

But I wonder if they should. If I were a player, I would want to play. Both teams will be impacted by this.
If it were my decision I am not sure what I would do.
No matter what happen it just sad case of events not matter what it was

True, it would be a hard decision to make. However, I think I would do what the players want to do. I think Summit's players will want to play for their fellow teammate.

JV football player, 15, dies
Mansfield Summit athlete collapsed during game
A junior varsity football player at Mansfield's Summit High School died Thursday night after collapsing during a game.
Mansfield school spokesman Terry Morawski identified the player as 15-year-old sophomore Dozie Njeako.
Witnesses said Dozie collapsed while jogging to the Summit sideline following a play early in the third quarter against South Grand Prairie.
Athletic trainers from Summit and South Grand Prairie administered CPR in an effort to revive Dozie. Paramedics continued CPR as they transported him to Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, where he died.
Summit and South Grand Prairie officials will meet this morning to determine the status of tonight's varsity game.

I think it is truly awesome that while we all cheer for different teams around this great state, we can come together and realize life is so much more than football. The fact is, we are Texans and we stand by one another every time there is a need. May God bless all of you.

Here is what I posted on the other thread about the SV JV player and it goes for every player that walks out on the field.
I am sorry to hear about any player that gets hurt, we should all say a prayer before we leave our house for a game that no player on any team gets hurt. So my prayers and thoughts go out to that young man. Hopefully everything turns out okay.

a collegiate teammate of mine died in a similar fashion our freshman year. turns out he had a congenital heart defect. he and his parents knew of it but he made a conscious decision to play regardless of the risk. he told them he rather die doing what he loved than live as a cripple. it may be that this child had a similar problem, but didn't know about it. it is something that may not be predictable in an individual without a major cardiology workup/expense. our prayers are with the family and the community that is so devasted.

As the mother of a high school football player, I am deeply saddened to hear this news. My prayers go out to his family, friends, coaches, and fellow teammates. This is devastating. I pray all the time for the safety of all the players no matter what team they are on. I would encourage everyone on this board to do the same if they haven't been already.

My heart aches for Dozie's family, and for the Summitt family, which includes two of my good friends on Summit's coaching staff.
This is something that obviously no one could imagine, and that the kids, coaches, and community should have to face.
I can't help but remind everyone that TODAY is the day of salvation. Do not wait. For life is fleeting and our window of oppurtunity to make peace with our Lord and to make good with everyone we love is small. Never sleep on your anger and never walk away from those you know and love with spite in your heart.
GAME IS SCHEDULE FOR 1:00 PM AT WARRIOR BOWL!!
I dont think they will cancelle the game I think they will do something to remember the player before the game but to cancel the game I dont think they will do that because most of the Varsity players would want to play in honor of the player

Wow..> Three in one night. I don;t know what to say. I feel incredibly fortunate to have never suffered any injuries in football. I can only hw that continues.
