SLC - 59
Colleyville - 28

Boo, I had to park all the way over at Grapevine high school on the grass and run about a mile to the stadium to get there before kickoff. The stadium was jumping! It was packed with both CH and the Carroll stands filled from side to side, top to bottom, so packed that people were standing or sitting on the grass slopes that flanked the stands to each side. What an atmosphere!

If any of you Dragon fans saw me I was over at the Dragon side for the 2nd half of the 1st quarter with an LD Bell shirt on and black/green face paint under my eyes.

The game was only close in the 1st quarter when it was tied at 7.

I have to say that the officials were definatley biased towards CHHS. One of their touchdowns should have never happened, because it was an obvious Greg McElroy incompletion that they called a fumble, all the Dragons were standing around like it was an incompletion but a CH player picked it up and ran it to the 4 yard line. I think the penalties were Carroll - 15, CHHS - 1. And it wasn't just penalties, it was spotting the ball, and of course the "fumble" that was really an incompletion that got the Dragon side booing. They were booing most of the game with these calls.

The only way CH could keep their drives alive were from penalties. The CH offense wasn't bad but it wasn't pretty either.

The game was over at halftime with the score 28-7 which became 35-7 and 45-14. I did get a kick out of the Dragon band playing "Hey, Baby!". I wish our band played that song.

Good win for the Dragons, it just shows that they will roll through 5-5A this year.

I must also say that the CHHS fans and kids get the award for the most classless fans and students I've had the misfortune of being around in the past year...

Starting with booing the Carroll Alma Mater, and ending with some piece of crap kid saying 'Carroll sucks' to my 8 yr old... *AFTER* the game was over.

How about those lame t-shirts they made...

"Carroll is a girl's name"
"Dragons only exist in fairy tales"
"<picture of a drago> Ew."

None of them were funny, or made much sense.

There was ONE that kind of made me laugh, as it was somewhat original

"Your mom's name is Carroll"

I agree though, I was on their side the whole game and they had no respect at all for SLC.

This was a reality check for the Panthers. No longer are they playing cupcakes like Richland, Martin or Mansfield. They learned that early and have a long way to go for that playoff spot with Denton Ryan, Haltom and Fossil Ridge at full steam ahead.

We said worse things that that to Carroll during the games...any who...

I'm upset for two reasons tonight...one obviously my boys losing on a blocked field goal with 45 seconds to play...the second being my upset of the week CHHS over SLC upset was horribly horribly wrong...sad...

BHS you should have gone to the Coppell IMac Game...

Anybuddy heard of Micheal Fisher...yeah better then moody :)

For all the crap the CHHS people tried to bring..it was much worse than the score indicates..they are pretty much a 1 trick pony..Ponder & nothing else..no running game, no defense, nothing else....they won't get very far with what they have...they tried to load the box all night..it never worked & they never adjusted...Tre Newton is coming to a town near you..watch out! Next?... ;)

I should have now. If it were at Cowboy Stadium I would be there! It's my favorite stadium. I guess the location and the lure of the CHHS game where a few team mates of mine would be seemed to draw me more. Had I known the game would be that close I would have gone and cheered on the Cowboys.

Our game vs. SGP this week, in my opinion, features the best two defenses in the district. I think SGP will be the toughest team we had played so far, and I think tougher defensively than Trinity. It will be a tough one.

I think SGP is overrated, i really do...If they beat Trinity then ill give them respect, but You may have a chance in this one...

Top Defenses in 6-5A

1. Euless Trinity
2. SGP
3. Irving Mac
4. LD Bell (T)
4. Coppell (T)
6. Irving High (T)
6. Irving Nimtz (T)
8. GP....hahaha

Can I get a quick shout out to Greg "the beast" McElroy. I think he transformed into a mix between Mike Vick and Manning. I knew it was always there, and now the whole state and country will know this kid is for real.

I don't know if it was good blocking, or CHHS's defense playing the pass way to hard, but each time McElroy or Tre Newton would take a the ball on a draw play or QB scramble there would be nobody within 15, 20 yards of the ball carrier and it would be a huge gain. That one play where McElroy looked like he was going to be sacked by 4 different Panthers, but shook them all off and sprung out for about a 15 yard run was very impressive

From what I know, Greg "The Beast" McElroy and Joe "Namath" Mauro are good friends, as they are in many QB camps together. McElroy is a nice person, he was polite in 7 on 7.

Yeah he has said some good things about Mauro. But I honestly have never seen Greg move like that. Ridiculous moves. Even though we won the game easily, I will loose some sleep over that "fumble" recovery that they called agianst McElroy. That was absurd.

I think it was mostly because for some goofy reason, CHHS had 9 or 10 in the box all night...once Mc or Newton blew by them it was off to the races..strangest game plan I've seen in a couple of years by a defense...

Exactly. I was in the CHHS student section sitting there protesting the call. His arm not only went forward but so did the ball. If its a fumble the ball would have most likely just fell to the ground, but the ball went a good 5-10 yards forward. Knowing how disciplined and aware the Carroll players are, it would shock me that they would not attempt to recover the ball had they even might have thought it was a fumble. Also, CHHS was bailed out by a few SLC pass interference penalties to what I thought was just SLC playing DEFENSE. Although SLC could have avoided some of the stupid facemask penalties, but at least they knew when they did it.

Heard on the radio that McElroy had 155+ yards rushing, 250+ passing, Newton had 150 yards rushing plus Dodge had almost 100 passing and rushing. SLC had over 650+ yards in total offense

Ponder had over 300 yards passing and rushing. CHHS had a little over 300+ yards total offense. It is Ponder and very little else.

mc had 168 rushing and 226 passing on just 18 attempts. the chhs defense dared slc to run as they blitzed unmercifully all night. they seemed not to understand that the scoreboard would light up with rushing td's too. they also were able to somewhat hold down the passing attack by holding every play, either at the line or downfield while the pass was in the air. i am less convinced that the trinity-slc match won't come off after seeing the panthers in person. i give gv a pretty good chance of beating chhs, and possibly making the po's.

I honestly might skip town and be at that game - time will tell. ET vs. SLC in Round 1? - that's ridiculous - it would certainly be for the title -- or at least the chance to play Spring Westfield.

Sounds like an outside chance at best.

I still think GV chances of making PO's is very slim, their defense is non-existent. They were up 17-0 in 1st quarter last night and ended up getting torched.......

Remember the offsetting penalties on the punt that took 20 MINUTES for the refs to sort out. The two coaches had to teach them the rules.

The offensive pass int. call on Renfro was one of the worst I've seen. Underthrown ball, Renfro tries to get to it around a defender who has no clue where the ball is, & they flag Renfro...I would say there was easily a 21 point swing because of the officials..but like I said, it did'nt matter because Colleyville was so weak...

The thing that really stinks when the refs don't know the rules is -- it takes so long for them to decide - kinda like a TV timeout X 20. You get home at midnight, and there is no fun in a game like that.

Coverage, and tackling skills were sorely lacking. The safetys seemed more concerned with trying to make the big hits rather than sure tackles. I figured that game plan would heavily emphasize the run, as it was we could pretty much do anything we wanted.

I'm still pretty skeptical of Grapevine's chances. but i guess anything is possible. Their defense is the worst in 5-5A and their offense isn't good enough to compensate. I doubt if they have enough to handle either CHHS or FR......

"I woulda gone to Gvine/Colleyville but daddy got a job"

Allright now I don't know about that one. That is awfully snobbish. Toss out Haltom/Richland and District 5-5A is probably the most wealthy district in the area. Aside from Coppell all the schools in 6-5A have several students who are financially disabled. But I like it, I like watching the less fortunate students at my school work hard at their jobs and in school to succeed, they will pay for their own SAT/ACT, they will pay for their own car. It may just be a small little 92 Honda Accord or whatever, but it gets them from point A to point B and that is what matters to them so it makes them happy. Not to mention they have to help their families cover all their bills such as auto insurance and friends, and the rising gas prices. They get it done through hard work, not from their parents just handing over whatever they want. I saw a SLC girl no older than 11 years old tonight with one of those $300-$400 cell phones with the huge screen. I parked right next to an SLC guy who probably just got his license and pulled into the grass with a brand spanking new GMC Yukon(I wonder who foots the gas bill on that one). If anyone came into our parking lot rolling that it in would most likely be stolen. Back on topic, you can't put people down for how much money their parents make. Just because they aren't making 6 figures doesn't mean they aren't bad people or bad football players. You can't put people down because of that.

Most of you post is correct, but the T-shirt printed by Carroll is part of an ongoing satire war within the Grapevine-Colleyville-Southlake area....not anymore to it than that...The Carroll run-through banner last night said "Face your Fears" I don't think the team or their fans could face it...

Hmm.. ever thought of the offensive line? Yeah, Carroll's rushed for over 300 yards the past two games. McElroy didn't become Mike Vick overnight. The Carroll line was dominant, giving Greg plenty of time to throw despite 6-7 pass rushers every play and it was their doing that led to the huge holes and massive rushing yards. For some reason, alot of people forget these guys exist every year.

Absolutely right about the O-line...they were shoving the D-line out causing them to have to loop to get at the QB, which gave Mc & Newton huge gaps up the middle to run through...I know he's been a handful, but having Buford back has really brought em up a notch..IMO
