It's bad enough UT played so horridly Saturday. Now the officials admit the Ark. St. penalty for "improper alignment" on the on-side kick was not a penalty at all. Sorry Ark. State - you had a chance to pull off at LEAST as big of a shocker as App. State - but the refs decided to throw a bogus flag to end it right there under their own Zebra power.
Would Ark. St. have driven 60 yards in 55 seconds, scored a TD and 2 pt. conversion just to send it to overtime? Highly unlikely - but thanks to the refs they got no chance.
These are the types of calls I hate.
"Well, see, we thought we saw a mis-formation."
Nonsense! Let the kids play for cryin' out loud - and call the real penalties - thank you.

tu gets another break?:puke they have the same karma as the D cowboys, I hate that. Sad for Arkie State. You are probably right about them not driving the field and scoring...2pt conversion..yada yada yada. They were in the red zone how many times and didn't score? They might have driven the field, but once in the red zone....the clock...would have...turned 00:00.0, WHERE WAS THE TIMEOUT!!
COME ON!

the near miss may have portended future problems for the sips, but more than likely was rather a hiccough which will be forgotten as the season goes on, thanks to some timely mis-officiating.

Maybe the officials had something down on the game. ;)

not to mention the selective memory of certain fans. The same ones who remember the A&M Army game to this day, but have gone MIA on any thread to do with the tu-arkie st game.
They'll re-surface if they beat TCU.

If this Texas team is as bad as they played against Arkie State, we will get what's coming to us...maybe even this week.

I don't have a problem with Orangebloods laying low - I mean, what are you gonna say - Ark. St. is going BCS'ing?
No win situation - Mack has sounded relatively high schoolish acting like it was no big deal to almost lose at home to a I-AA school.

ASU is a D1 school

Well considering that our main Horn fans have either been banned, or no longer exhibit much of a spine...or like myself...feel as if their is nothing to speak about...I think it was a hiccup...
we barely pulled it out...and thats not acceptable for any Horn team (Not against a team like Arkie)

A little different situation I think.
a$m was behind, tied at the half, and Army was down by 4 w/1st and goal.
Texas was up 21-6 w/a minute left. The game only became close at the very end.
That being said, to me an Texas homer the game was concerning, but at this point I see it as a wasted opportunity and a complete waste of time. In my opinion we did not really learn anything from that game at all.

I understand what you are saying, but Ark State is not I-AA.

My huge problems with the game were on both sides of the ball. Jamaal Charles couldn't get a hole to run through to save his life but did well (averaging over 4.1 yds per carry) with what he was given. Colt did well also considering the pressure that was put on him. The big problem on offense is very obvious: the O-line.
Defensively, ASU was able to move through way to easily. Either their running back was amazing against UT's great rush defense, or the rush defense is overrated and needs a lot of work. ASU's RB was averaging 6.2 per carry. ASU was also getting around 13 yards per reception. These are unacceptable numbers allowed against a team that is probably at around 100 if all D1 teams were ranked. The score on ASU's side was far below what it could have been if their players had their basics down (i.e. catching open passes, avoiding stupid penalties). Texas kept the game in control only by the graces of Colt's TD passes, Jamaal's TD and the fact that they were able to shut down ASU's offense once they got within the 30.
If Texas' O line can shape up and the defense can transfer what they did in the red zone to the rest of the field, they will beat TCU. Even if the O line decides not to shape up, I think if the defense plays better Texas can win in a close game.

I understand what you are saying, but Ark State is not I-AA.
The main difference is that Army had the coaching and decided to capitalize on our mistakes. Apparently Ark. State not only turned the ball over in the red zone, but also dropped 3 sure picks. Meanwhile, Bobby Ross had enough poise to score on us while in the red zone (and even when not in the red zone sometimes ) Oh well, we turned around and had a good year, so nothing is stopping Texas from doing it this year. Sometimes teams get those first-game hiccups.
