It's not a big deal to beat Judson when they don't have any offense. All it takes to beat Judson this year is a stout defense and some offensive execution.

1. why the cheap shot on our WR when u got that sack in the 3rd Q. near the Judson 45 yd line.

2. why was the team still blitzing up by 2 TDs, judson 80 yards away, and down 21-7 in the final minute.....to me that was ridiculous.

other than that, i thought SV played a solid, classy game.

BTW, that 4th down play where SV got the 3rd TD was a sweet play. Judson totally got fooled.

hookem, rangerpride & pack hit the nail on the head in their posts. Judson defense is outstanding. Judson offense & kciking game is average. Punter takes way to long to kick which is something that Coach Hill said in his post game interview & his staff picked up in game films. 1st time in decades that I've seen Judson have a punt blocked for TD.

Rockets offense must be at the hospital right now getting all of the self inflicted bullets removed. SV take advantage of the opportunities and made the most of them, which is one of their trademarks. Rockets were basically outplayed & outcoached. Rember as far as the offense is concerned: it's not the same because it's not the same.

SV 'D' came to play tonight. Judson's offense could never get anything going. Congratulations Rangers, you guys played a great game and deserve all the glory in the win. To the victors go the spoils as they say. I know that SV's D was a big reason for Judsons offensive problems, but Judsons offensive line needs a lot of work. Didn't see the game (listened on radio), so I'm not sure about the supposed "cheap shot" but I do want to address the "blitz while up by 14" issue.

If SV does not blitz, and instead, allows the Judson QB time to sit back in the pocket looking for Wr's with a BIG SPEED ADVANTAGE over SV defenders, the Rockets possibly throw a long TD strike, bringing the score to within 7 with under 1:30 to play. What does Judson do now???
They ON SIDE KICK and possibly recover it and get a chance to TIE the game or win it on a 2pt conversion.

NO WAY COACH HILL is gonna put the his team at the mercy of Judson's offense. A 14 point lead (even with 1 minute) is not a guaranteed victory. Blitzing in that situation is not "rubbing it in their faces." It's called SMART FOOTBALL. The pressure kept the Judson QB from being able to set up and launch a long throw downfield to his speedy receivers. I'd take A Judson WR over an SV defender in a foot race down the sideline ANY DAY!!!

Lonny, you can't believe that. Standing by what I said weeks ago, Lee, Reagan, and Mac won't be there. I think tonight's game between Churchill and Roosevelt could be the game of the year in 265. An 0-2 (district) Roosevelt has no playoff chance. Likewise, at this point, a 2-0 Churchill is the end of Madison.

Judson will have to suffer a major upset (which last night's game was not) in order to miss the playoffs. I don't think that will happen.

If Roosevelt gets one over on Churchill tonight, the race between Roosevelt, Churchill and Madison is going to be very exciting. Anyway you figure it, there are four, maybe five teams, looking to fill three vacancies and I still Judson and SV already have reservations. :D

what are you talking about? It was a clear as day call. The stinking corner back lined up offsides. I watched the game on Time Warner Cable and I remeber it vividly. The ball was a line ( I think the 47 maybe) and the corner lined up infront of that line. It was an easy call, and if it wasn't such a obviously call it wouldn't have been called because the ref that threw it was on the Judson sideline. So none of that please.

If you want to argue about missed/bad calls, how about the pass interfernce call on Andrew Sendejo in the 2nd half. The Judson O-line TACKLED our defensive end and laid on top of him while our guy tried to get up, but no holding call. That should have been OFF-SETTING penalties and replay of the downs, but Judson got a 1st down instead.

There were missed calls for BOTH teams, so don't try to blame the referees for this Judson loss. For God's sake, it was AT JUDSON, you guys were supposed to have the "home-cookin'" from the officials.

Ah, the "possibly" is the rankings that the Express-News likes to dish out every week....they're extremely inaccurate however....that's why I said "possibly" cause Clemens is gonna be there until either they lose or the regular season ends.

To me, they're the best team at the moment. And because Churchill beats them I would rank the two pretty high.

As for me predicting the outcomes, I remember saying that if SV could stop the Judson run, then SV would win....I also made a joking statement saying that it'd be a shootout.

Great game played by two very good teams. SV played a better game and more than deserve the win. I have to say that a few weeks ago I ripped Bullrock for comments that he said about Judson and that they were "dead", I appologize for that and I am starting to think that you were correct. The Judson Offensive line and they do have somm big kids, couldn't stop 5 75 year old women from sacking the quarterback. That #1 kid is a flat out stud and even though it would not have made a difference it might of helped in a small way. I feel that Judson will not make the playoffs and that SV will have a very long run in the playoffs. I would also say this to Clemens Buff - it will not be one and done for you this year, if and that is a big if you play Judson you should not have problems at all beating them, iof your defense is that good.

I will not congragulate the Smithsion Valley Buzzkills not because I don't want to but because when I try to my fingers simply won't allow me. However I can type that this was from what im hearing a well played, respectful sportsmanlike game. The buzzkills should be proud of themselves for this win. I went to the game,and didnt leave until SV sang their Alma mater.Judson was playing dirty,it wasnt as bad as Clark last year when we smoked them in the offs.Judson was doing some extra mugging in the piles,and pushing down on SV players while getting up.I saw Judsons defensive captain kick Rios (sv rb)right after the whistle.Rios always jumps up as soon as he goes down,and the Judson player didnt like it,so he kicked him in the shin.I saw the refs warning the Rockets all night.


Kinda like the Redskins of the 70`s playing the Cowboys.The skins were always trying to get the cowboys to react,but for the most part they were cool headed like Tom Landry.It`s the same for SV they take on the personality of their coaches.Once again the BIGGER,FASTER,MOST ATHLETIC TEAM,didnt beat the well coached,TEAM,with no "I" in it.SV just might really start rolling again ,just like last year after the Judson game.


With that said,Judson has a really tough defense.Their run defense is awsome.With that defense they will be ok in the play-offs.Their offense is good enough to win some big games.They have maybe the best wide out in the SA area in Williams.All you Judson fans crying about running the ball,you need a good running back,you dont have that Jerrod Douglass,Chris Pryor.or a Fox.But you do have a great wr,sometimes you need to play to your strength,this is sometime right now.You better back em,or just jump off the wagon,err Rocket...

You can win championships with a defense like that.The N.F.L. Ravens did it.The Ravens went like 20 straight quarters with out scoring a TD on offense at one time during their superbowl championship year.When the other team cant score,you have a good chance to win. :cool:

6. True, given the history of REG 4 D1, everyone knows that SA teams(and Judson in particular) struggle past round 2. Those Valley teams almost always beat them. SA/Judson teams almost never make it to the semi's at least. So yeah, Judson might go past round 2, but certainly not much further.

8. Perfect summary. Nothing says "we're classy" more than saying it, and then calling someone "*****es" and topping it off with the truly timeless, but classy, phrase "up yours".

Posters on here do it all the time. And if you came away with an impression of Judson from the pre-game music, atmosphere, etc...then how do you think you represented Smithson Valley in your last few posts? Is that the impression you want to make for your school?

They almost always report Judson home games low. The stadium supposedly seats 12K, but the band takes some seats and the only 10K+ attendance I remember being reported was Madison-Judson in 2002.

And if you came away with an impression of Judson from the pre-game music, atmosphere, etc...then how do you think you represented Smithson Valley in your last few posts? Is that the impression you want to make for your school?

Talk about a fan who is classy. Ranger fans everywhere should be proud of rangerfan101. The guy is a piece of----work. SV great job on taking care of business and taking advantage of the opportunities that Judson gave away by shooting thmeselves in the foot--mainly penalties. Let's see, SV and Judson have both won once against each other and both have been successful in post season with one a little more so than the other. But it's great to see two teams from outside the NEISD & NISD doing well in San Antonio.

1. Didnt see it happen, but probably because the Judson players were smashing our players heads in the grass after the play was over (they did get warned by the refs for it)

2. SV plays til the end. Some of them saw what Judson did to Midland High at the state game a few years back in 2002. There was still time to make a comeback. To me that was great coaching, you did notice they could not get a pass off. What did you want them to do? Let them score and than get the onside kick?

That 4th down play was nice... Good game from both sides, started out a very good game, I figured overtime would come.




i did have a few issues with SV.....

1. why the cheap shot on our WR when u got that sack in the 3rd Q. near the Judson 45 yd line.

2. why was the team still blitzing up by 2 TDs, judson 80 yards away, and down 21-7 in the final minute.....to me that was ridiculous.

other than that, i thought SV played a solid, classy game.

BTW, that 4th down play where SV got the 3rd TD was a sweet play. Judson totally got fooled.

I didnt see it either, and I was right there. I am assuming that D Williams was #1? If this was the case, the corner was about 10 yards from him when his knee seemed to give out. Nobody hit him.

SV did a great job of defense in the second half. Now get ready for a rat race in 26-5A to the end. should make for an exciting finish. Can you imagine what will take place next year when 4 teams go to playoffs?!!

Congratulations SV, splitting up of the coaching staff with years of JISD experience between Judson and Wagner seems to be causing some chemistry issues and the changing of the traditional ways. You now see enrollment is not THE major factor in winning, playing good sound football is. I thought they were going to bring in former players who are coaches to fill that void. I think the biggest loss was when coach Jeter the OC and O-Line coach became the AD. I have to hope that the new system will start to gel or they will decide to get back to Rocket Football.

Enrollment is still the same this year! All of the seniors are at Judson and I'm sure a very solid core of the Juniors. Next year is when the enrollment could effect the Rockets.

neraly all of you prior to this game have been talking crap about how much Judson was going to kick SV's ***, and it even showed with most of yalls pre game predictions.Yall said that SV should never be ranked ahead of Judosn utnil Sv wins. I attended the game and i can confidently say that i was ashamed of how judson carried themselves. i saw numerous cheap shots after plays and i have never been to a game when the pre game had a bunch of rap music playing, our fans were throwing up in their seats because of the way the "mighty rockets" carried themselves...yeah real class act.

Great game SV. The better team won the game. After reading some of the posts in this thread, I thought I might offer my opinion.
1. The offsides call was correct. I was screaming at the top of my lungs for him to get back. The Judson coaching staff was standing on the line and said absolutely nothing.
2. I saw some of the dirty play going both ways. It's part of the game. That's why it's called "contact" sports.
3. I guess people are starting to see what I spoke of a couple of weeks ago. I never said this new offense wouldn't work, although I still haven't witnessed it, the style of football this team is playing is not even remotely close to what I would call "Rocket Ball". Sorry, that's the way I see it.
4. Coaching. I have read and heard how Hill is the best coach in the area and some say the state. I have reserved my thoughts on this and still do with the exception of saying he was the best coach on the field Friday night.
5. The speed of the SV DB's is something of beauty. They have to be the fastest we have played in a long time. It might have been thier angles, but we could never get behind them in the first half. They weren't very effective in the second half because we never crossed the line of scrimmage.
6. Adam Perez would make a big difference on the offensive line. I hear he is going to be back the game after next. Too bad he can't play on both sides of the center because I didn't see one on either side after the half.
All in all, the game was about as exciting as a root canal. It kind of reminded me of two big ole' sumo wrestlers tugging and pushing on each other until one of them made a mistake.
Great game plan for the Rangers. Just remember this, that was just one district game. Don't be satisfied with that one. It was not the state championship. Stay focused and you will go far.

About the rap music at Judson stadium.It was`nt that the rap music was in bad taste,it was that it sounded like blown speakers.If i knew some rap songs i might have been able to tell you what they were singing.But you couldnt understand a word they were rapping.


I went to the Judson-Madison game last year,and it was the same way.Sv`s speakers sound the same if you turn em up real loud,at least i know they did last year.You know the sound} your speakers cant handle any base,so you turn up the treble all the way,and then the volume.Maybe they were just trying to get us off our game plan. :cool:

SV better get on the ball then. I know it's a long road to the finals and SV has been there 2 out of 3 years. The fact is, it's hard to continue getting there and not bringing home the hardware makes the trip seem so much longer . Believe it or not, it is not your God given right to be there. That is something that is so easy to take for granted when you've enjoyed the success you have lately. I feel sorry for SLC when they fail to get to the finals. They will feel like losers. there were plenty of cheap shots being thrown around by the Judson defense which doesnt surprise me cuz they were pissed that they were losing a game which they were "supposed" to be winning. One example of mine was early in the 4th quarter when left guard Wade Haynes came out gasping for air after #58 reeled back and let one go into Wade's stomach. And what about Rios nearly gettin trampled by Judson defenders after an awesome play? There should've been a flag on that play but there wasn't

SVlo, so you want to whine about a win. And don't get started on the play; I heard enough communication from SV and Judosn both. Add this to your hat; SV fumble, ref on your side missed the call & pass interference against Judson, nope just the same ref missing the call again. Just let me know which camera angle you want me to verify it with: sideline, crow's nest or end zone. Would those two calls change the complexion of the game--we'll never know.

SV won the game; move on; SV defense did a great job; I hope they win the rest of their games and represent the SA area well in the playoffs.
