Good Lord, we just got hit with an unreal severe storm squall line here in Katy. It's moving inland off the coast. I've never seen the wind like that. I took a few pictures when the storm was in "white out" mode and will have to try and get those uploaded. I've heard a few of the loudest thunder claps I've ever heard as well. The last time I saw the wind that bad was when I was at Reliant Stadium in 2004 for a high school game in zero week. The wind was so bad it blew the concourse doors open into the stadium. That game we had to move because the roof was leaking water from the storm. It was pretty surreal watching football while you could hear the thunder as if you were outside in it.

Yea, this storm was ridiculous. Sounded as if 3 or 4 strikes were right in my backyard.

I looked outside and thought some of the trees were going to topple over.

In Houston, it's freakin black outside. I hear some thunder... but most of it is distanced. Crazy stuff... for a holiday.

Alright, so I'm almost positive that last one hit my neighbors house. Brb.

I adivse you all NOT to use computers....if they're close to hitting your house. It can be expensive if one does find the spot and overloads most of your electronics in the house.

My XBox fell victim to that a few months ago.

That's why people have surge protectors, isn't it?

Good luck, man.

Thanks

Btw if you're catching The Woodz and CP game make it a point to stop by Market Street, Town Center and The Waterway in The Woodlands on the way to the Stadium. I think you and your family/friends would enjoy a meal/drink at one of the Restaurants there.

Yea, stopped there a few times on the way up to Huntsville/Sam Houston State. Will probably stop by before the game.

Thanks.

You can't tell in this pic, but the wind had to be 40-50 mph sustained horizontal when this thing cranked up. You could see the rain "rolling" across the roofs of the buildings across the way there. Keep in mind that pic was taken at about 1 or 1:30 pm.

I was watching TV and heard wind chimes start going crazy outside, so I looked to see what was going on. I could see part of the cloud about to come overhead, but no rain or thunder yet. It was really windy though. I saw leaves rotating in mid air outside my window, and knew we were about to get our butts kicked by something. It turns out this was a severe mesocyclone storm.

They have a problem with 10,000+ volts DC with at least 100 amps.

true, cheap surge protectors don't work well during storms. my moms computer got fried while plugged into one.

That storm just made it's way here. I heard the rumble in the distance and then it finally started to rain. There was nothing unusual at first but then it sounded like it was raining in my bedroom and I don't think I have ever heard it sound like that back there. So I went to look out of my bedroom window and saw how hard it was raining. I then went to the window by the dining area and looked outside and it was pretty much a white out. Yeah the wind was blowing pretty hard here too. It is just starting to die down though.

Whatever I'm turning all my stuff on in storms so I get new stuff when it gets zapped.

It was pretty awesome, but these gulf coast storms just don't look as cool as the ones you see out in West Texas. Here's one I took last year...
