Well..if i had to be completely honest...Neither team impressed me.

Elsik
- They looked like a 2-8 team...and the only reason why Elsik would make the playoffs would be because the district overall is weak..
- Offensively: their sloppy...but still managed 300+ yards on what appeared to be a very poor Nimitz Defense.
- Defensively: Their not there. They cant tackle, they miss the opportunities to make the big play...Their D-Line appeared to be severely under coached. The only bright spot..Their secondary...its decent...not great...but decent.
-Overall: They don't look like anything people made them out to be. They are no better then 6th in 18-5a from what i saw today.

Nimitz
-No defense. I dont know if its because their really young on defense or what...they failed to tackle...big plays happened...and they just appear to be hanging on in their...If Elsik had less penalties...this game would of been alot closer.

-Offense: They run a pretty good system with Micheal Thomas leading the way...but i don't think they are successful up against the rest of 19-5a. i have trouble seeing Nimitz scoring on good defenses.

Overall: They are probably a 4th place team, but i actually am going to put that on a bubble...The mac game will be the deciding factor. I dont think they beat Stratford, IKE, or Aldine this year.... They were better last year.

Final Score: 41-21 Nimitz

I have to agree that there was some very sloppy play out there tonight. I was disappointed that Elsik wasn't able to keep their lead after the half. It didn't appear thatthey made any half-time adjustments.

Jeremy Hills (#1 Elsik and UT commit) is a hard worker but I think he is being over-utilized. Elsik had probably 30-40 kids in uniform on the sidelines but yet they were using Hills as running back, corner, and one of the back two on kick returns... He's a good player but there's too much potential for injury when you're on the filed that much.

Elsik just didn't look good...Hills on the other hand...looked very good. he did what he could with a bad O-line....But it helped that Nimitz couldn't tackle.

Elsik's #5 did a fine job too. But they just could get the rest of the team to cooperate.

You're absolutely correct, Hills would have been a matter to contend with if he had better blocking! There's only so much one player can do on his own.

What did you think about all of the penalties??? Miss Kitty and I counted about 14 in the first half, and about half that in the second half, mostly on Elsik. Those were all correctable mistakes and will need to be worked on this week in order to be successful. I'm not sure that I have seen that many penalties in one drive, ever (I think we counted 7).

Who finishes ahead of them, assuming KATY, Cinco, and Alief Taylor will be the top three.
(not necessarily in that order, except KATY:D )

The penalties show me that the coaching staff needs to get it together...Elsik isn't a very Disciplined team. Like i said before, you take away the majority of those Penalties and you have a much closer ball game. Nimitz was equally as sloppy, but were a little bit more put together.

The Penalties are correctable...and if Elsik wants to be that 4th place team...they better work hard this next week to improve themselves. But the thing i question is, can they be any better with the lack of Run defense and Offensive blocking.... I think they could of overcome their Penalties if they would of played a little harder. Neither team came off as intimidating as far as physical play goes.
