Horrible game - wish the varsity had shown up!! This team is like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde - Mr. Hyde showed up tonight. I don't know if there were losses of players due to grades or they just don't have enough heart but it looked like they brought JV players up or maybe Cy Creek is just that good - and I believe they are after what I saw. Falls is way overrated at this point (you were correct Eagle Fan!!). They had so many mistakes, turnovers (I lost count because Tillman thought we were in the BLUE jersey's and completed several "passes" to those blue jersey's), Bry Roby got hurt right before halftime so we lost our kicker, penalties out the you know what...a terrible night all around, especially with the Astros losing. Cy Falls playoff chances seem to be getting dimmer and dimmer.

And to top it off, and I can say this because I was a band mom for 4 years, that band halftime and competition show is embarrassing it's so bad. I have always been so proud of their shows and I was hoping they would get it together before BOA but it is just bad...kids falling all over themselves, flags falling, some toilet paper looking streamer thing littering the field - not sure what's going on there. This years color guard is SO bad it's really not even funny and they were #7 in the nation at one point!!! Just a bad night for Cy Falls from start to finish. Okay, I'm through commisserating. Let's get it together EAGLES!!!

Another great offensive display by the eagles. Preseason #4 in the area and receving votes in the AP Top 10. What a joke. Sounded like the coaches had them ready to go. My new picks for the playoffs are Cy Creek, Cy Fair, Tomball. Impressed with Cy Creek and how they moved the ball. Maybe falls should switch quarterbacks again.

AMEN!!! At least David knows which team is his. And this guy has a scholarship already - must be a small college.

Bad football by two bad teams. Best offensive play for either team was a fumble by Creek which the center picked up and ran for about 60. I don't know if Creek's D was that good or Falls O was that bad. Creek made some nice offensive adjustments at half to open it up a little in the second half.

Falls has let me down this year. I really thought they'd be a contender. Some programs just implode...whether they're good or not.

Falls defense is just playing lowsy. They need to step it up, BIGTIME.

The only chance, if any, that Falls has is to beat Tomball and Jersey Village! And you know what? I think they can do it!

This coach just needs to take his head out of his...well, you know what I mean!

I think people underestimated the effect that players like Ricky Price, Andre Sexton and Joe Bell among others had on last year's team. I thought the Falls offense would be better this year, but I expected the defense to be in rebuilding mode so Falls' season start isn't that shocking given my thoughts on the Eagles pre-season.

I see what you're saying. But there is some bone-head type of playing going on! And no one wants to bash a coach, but come on...your offense is boring and your QB is not a QB. Plus your defense is worn-out from being on the field 94.3% of the time. (It's not really 94.3%!)

But I see what you're saying....from your point of view!

You are supposed to have 3 great wide receivers and they are all averaging less than 15 yds per catch. Man that sure must be some creative play calling. I said it that last years playoff run was a fluke. Would have been one and down in region 2. Eisenhower was not IKE and Kempner was from Fort Bend. Last Fort Bend school to do anything was Dulles back in 1994 I think that lost to state to Killeen. Cy Creek has turned it around, congrats to the cougars.

the defense looked exhausted by the end of the game - they were not playing bad the first 3 quarters in my opinion - they just ran out of steam. The offense is KILLING us. They never seem to know what they are out there for - looks of confusion and such. I am going to say it again - when you have to read the plays on your wrist and you are STILL reading when the play begins - that's a problem. Also, those guys who get antsy and want to start fights - refrain please!! Those penalties kill us too. And Tillman with the same two or three plays (because you can only get so many on your wrist) is getting VERY old.

Yep! You know I've been intrigued, lately, about getting into coaching HS. But what keeps me on the post is bone-head...head coaching. You take some athleticism and determination, and mix that with a stuck-in-his-ways coach, who never wants to adapt or evolve with the game, you get good teams that falter year in and year out.

When I see games, it's odd, because I sit there calling plays before the offense or defense runs them. I know immediately certain formations will be hazardous to a certain team. I can tell immediately a team will not have the depth to overcome.

At this point...
I don't know what to say.....there's always next year.

But, then again, this year ain't in the books, yet! You guys need some trick plays...preferably on the very first play of the game. And what ever it is it needs to produce td's. The offense needs to open up. Options are always good, for situations like this,...and you don't even need a good o-line or a "QB". A faster, trust-worthy, athlete can run fake option/keepers all day. The o-line, if not sizeable or powerful, can chop block all day...cut them at the knees and they'll be timid all day. Little things. Shotgun QB draws. Reverses, using a wide receiver as the pitch man. (Kinda like a double reverse.)

This team needs to wake up or unfortunately their year is through....early on.

Like someone said - we never knew how much we'd miss Andre Sexton, Ricky Price and Joe Bell. There was much more exciting football going on last year - I feel like I'm watching them in slow motion sometimes. I, too, have called more than one play before they run it - the opposing defense has them figured out in no time - not real creative Coach!! I like Raffield as a person but the coaching is driving me crazy.

That's the reason Chris Palmer of the Texans got the axe...and why Capers should be going with him, in no time. BORING!!!

Then again, all of this starts back in off-season. It always amazes me how these coaches TRULY believe their play calls are going to work during the regular season.

Honestly, think about it...your HC and OC sat back and drew up the playbook. Wow! I hope the romance in their relationships aren't as "well scripted"!....That would not bold well for the "Mrs"!

I was truly disheartened after last night's game. Nothing about it looked promising. My biggest concern is the "heart" thing. Outside of Brekke, Xavier and Holland I am not seeing much heart. I saw a couple of kids on the sideline last night who looked like athletes and were chomping at the bit to get in. Who is #20? Some of the kids started the year coming onto the field walking on, trying to imitate North Shore from a few years back. Last night it was some kind of ochestrated hand thing while jogging down the field. How about the serious players take control of this stuff and get the athletes to working on getting ready for a game rather than orchestrating their grand entrance?!

All I will say about the offensive play calling. Throw down field! There is not enough time for Tillman to make the short pattern reads. He has an arm. Let him use it.

What is it the DC always use to say and probably still does? PLAYERS MAKE PLAYS! Got to get back to that.

You know that the play calling will not change. That will be tough on the coaches. Hopefully players can start making plays. Maybe they should even go to the 3rd quarterback that started as a freshmen. Cy Falls historically has always been high on talent and low on result. It is a shame that the cy fair district has turned into a mediocre league. I never thought I would see the day were cy fair turned into fort bend but we are darn close.

This season I am beginning to have to agree with eagle fan on the fort bend part. Really thought something could happen for falls this year. Do not agree with the 3rd quarterback part, though. It was tough on my son to endure his varsity year for the program to commit to a kid straight out of 8th grade put in charge of a 5A program. Was not fair to the team or the kid. Arm strength was not there to get the ball more than 15 yards down the field when you had a receiver who started at a BIG D1 school his true freshman year on the field with you. Bad OC call then, too. After the leg break, Brekke came on and was able to throw the ball farther and they wound up winning a couple of games that year. Even beat JV for the first time in school history. Throwing down field. What a concept when you have speed at the wideout positions. Get off this idea of 50% run and 50% pass and start calling a game plan. Burn them deep quick a few times to start the game and then go to the run to run the clock. A 50/50 split is not intended to be averaged over every 4 plays. Its over the entire game.

Not all offense though. Defense has got to make tackles, PERIOD! Players can not just go up and hit. They have to wrap up and bring 'em down! Defense has got to want it. Except for the Westfield game, I have not seen the defense want it very bad. Except for Xavier. That MAN wants something. He needs to take control of the team maybe. Who would not listen to that MAN when he got in their face?

The success in this game has more to do with heart than talent. Always has. Always will.

So what is it Eagles?

Show us something.

What do you get when you cross an ex band mom, a parent whose kid probably never got to play, a computer geek who thinks he knows more football than the ex-offensive coordinator for the Houston Texans, and a guy who got fired off of the Cy Falls staff because he was soooooooooo lazy?

A bunch idiotic comments on a message board. Get a real life and quit trying to pump up your own lack of self confidence by bashing others for having the nuts to make the decisions that you will never have the courage to make, because it would mean putting yourself out on the line. Let the kids play and the coaches coach and try and be a real fan. One that supports their team after a bad loss just as much as they do after a big win. But you guys wouldn't know anything about that. That would take some character. I am an ex-player and I know for a fact that the coaches at Cy Falls work as hard as anyone in the business to put a successful product on the field. They didn't have a successful season last year and then get "Dumber" this year. The players on this team have a lot of talent, but for some reason, they have not played as a team this season. Maybe it is chemistry of maybe a lack of senior leadership. I don't know nor do I claim to know. But I do know that you guys know NOTHING about supporting an organization.

Grow up and act like adults. Not a bunch of kids talking about people on the computer. What a JOKE! "Defense has to tackle"........You think so, what an incredible insight. "Offense has to score"..........Wow, maybe you should write a book about football. We should get all the coaches to just listen to your inspiring and earth shattering ideas. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

As a recent graduate of the falls who was on the football team but did not play much I can create my own opinion. I hope that Falls wins every game because it is my alma mater but they are underperforming and was thinking the offense could be better. I do know that coaches put a lot of time and effort into the season just hoping to see a little creativity. I think the falls still can make the playoffs but have put themselves in a hole. Still 5 district games left and need to win at least 4 of them.

A little uptight are we? I have plent of self-confidence - I teach it to others. If I could coach, I would be doing it...they don't like women to coach football. I have watched football of every level and have known and been friends with many coaches, players AND parents - for 40+ years. I have never played, except in my neighborhood when i was a kid. I can tell when a team has lost its will to play though. They are very Jeckyll and Hyde right now...they need to be more even. YOU are the one bashing people for going on a board and airing their opinions. I probably made the mistake of posting right after the game but what I saw was disheartening for a fan and I am a big fan of all Falls sports - my daughter is an athlete. I petty much live and die with my sports teams and am very passionate about it. I think those kids are awesome for getting out there and doing what they do - I don't think they are "dumb" as you say or anything else - just don't have heart this year that they had last. There are some players who DO have the heart though and do want to win...there are some who get easily frustrated and want to just fight with the other team.

I see that you are fairly new to this board. You are probably young since you played for Falls. I would suggest you look at other threads as well. People will post their opinions just like you did - you need to be able to accept ANY opinion that comes along. Yes, I was a band mom (now a college band mom) and I love band - in fact I'm going to a marching contest today - but my passion is football and I KNOW THE GAME contrary to your belief...I was watching it WAY before you were born. I watched the first Super Bowl with my dad and knew what was going on then - I was 7 (picture the little girl from Remember the Titans - that was me looks and all). So post away all you want but try to refrain from attacking those who post here...It's an OPINION.

You watched the SUPER BOWL??????????????????? Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know that. Excuse me, I am soooooooooooo sorry YOUR EXCELLENCY.
It seems that you too have a problem with opinions, especially when they are about you. No problem voicing them about others, but no one should have an opinion about you. Now Now....that wouldn't make for much of a coach.........would it? :p

I can accept opinions...by the comment about the super bowl, I meant that I have watched football AND understand everything it is about - I don't have to sit here and explain every play, penalty, game I've watched - it was just an analogy. I was, I'm sure, highly knowledgable about the game before you were born.

You seem very angry about something. I haven't done anything to you personally. I expressed my opinion and you expressed yours. No big whoop. I'm not on here to fight with you so I am more than willing to pass a peace pipe...I just want to talk football with everyone else. I say again, go to other threads - mine was tame compared to some. I was not attacking - I just want them to win so badly and I don't understand why they are playing like they are. Yes, some of that is the coaching...no doubt. I KNOW they work very hard out there. I know that most of them are trying their best and it's just not happening. I just don't understand your anger at me. I know the game inside and out and NOT because I watched one super bowl. My dad taught me everything there is to know about the game and we watched like addicts every weekend and every high school game that we could get to - and that was in the 60's and 70's.

As far as band, I go to a website for that too. I am guessing from your post that you really don't like band but that's okay too - lots don't. Please block me from your list if you don't like what I have to say and I will do the same unless you want to take my offer of a white flag.

They would have on Thursday - as much as I hate to admit it. They just didn't come to win and Creek did and I think Creek may just win district...they looked pretty solid. I still think that if you are picked to win in Dave Campbell, there is a chance you will fall on your face...it's the kiss of death. We were picked to win a couple of years back and we won 3 games.

Keep things clean or we'll have to lock this thread up.

No reason for the in-fighting over a school most of youl want to see do well. My advice, although no one asked for it, would be to continue supporting the players regardless and keep showing your support for them at games.

I've seen a lot of football in this state, and many programs just don't get proper support and that's sad...especially when you can see there aren't enough people in the stands to show that there is at least a parent or guardian there for each player.

I'm sure last year's run to the quarterfinals got many of you very excited about the future, but it's extremely hard to sustain those kind of runs season after season. However, community support is absolutely vital to any program that has visions of consistent success.

Oh my - that seems so long ago!! I was so mad that night and never should have gone near my computer  The Eagles just had a really bad night and the Cougars were phenomenal and I took it too seriously. You don't have to win district - just get to the show!! Then, just when you thought it was over for the Eagles season, they started playing some very good ball and mixed things up and it was very exciting as evidenced by the fact that we are playing in the second round of the playoffs. Last week's game was very exciting.

Since this thread is up, I might as well use it to call out to all of the other teams fans in 17-5a to try and come out to watch these three teams this weekend - support the district teams that are still in it. Katy district fans are supposedly going to the sit on the Strake Jesuit side in droves on Friday night and we need to do the same - show that 17-5a spirit!!! Wear your school colors and letter jackets - won't that be pretty and colorful :D
